I used a Dremel and cut out holes near the bottom for air flow, and cut more holes as well as slits along the top to allow the fire to burn more upwards. Helped a lot.

I ordered this stove. Not for regular camping but for a small twig stove in my get home bag in case of emergency. It's the smallest I could find. I already have a condor bag, GSI cup, a lid from a Stanley pot and a Klean kanteen bottle. It's a mix and match set up. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out but after seeing your video it looks like it works well enough to do the trick. Thanks for taking the time. Also I like your idea I'm going to put my Finn wolf knife in this kit.

does the stove fit your GSI cup?
@@familydahlin2544 Yes. I can put the cup in the stove and the two handles from the cup line up perfectly with the opening of the stove where you would put the wood in and it's really nice and snug perfect. It doesn't wobble or rattle around at all perfect fit.

I don't have the full kit. I got the bottle and cup in a Battlbox. I might buy the full kit just to have it though
The Cooker section is the weak link ... it's not really tall enough for efficient wood burning, just far too compact for that - which is a shame as if they just made it taller it would be a more useful unit. I'd still buy this unit for everything that comes with it but would do some modification to the cooker section or re-purpose it.
Yeah I don't even use the cooking part. I just cook over or in the fire. But with that said I love the robust kit , it's awesome. 👊💀👍
Just make a normal fire, then put the cooker thing on top for elevation and it will work awesome. I believe that is how it was supposed to be used. To not smother the coals with the pot or bottle directly on the coals.
I think it was built for a alcohol burner but not sure. I don't even use this part but it came with the kit. Cheaper to get the kit as is, at the time anyway.
@@REAPERMILITIAOUTDOORS Correct - it is meant for fuel bricks or alcohol burner though can be placed over coals as well.
