Really cool idea! now I want one for my shop. Current solution is to have multiple small bins around the shop. If I could just call him over to where I'm at then only one can is need.

This is a great project I myself have been thinking of making!
One thing I would add is an accelerometer or gyro like the MPU 6050 as a backup sensor. I would use it to detect "unexpected accelerations" by comparing calculated acceleration caused by the motor wheels (in my case, steppers) with the actual acceleration that has occurred. If mismatch is greater than a certain threshold then sound the alarm that the robot is lost! Useful for cases like if someone kicked your robot...

Absolutely cool. Mate, you could turn that into a business. At least until some company in China starts producing them for cheaper, you could make quite a bit of money. Yeah... I know... I'm boring.

Did you consider trying a mmWave sensor for person detection? It seems to work well in smart home stuff.
To be honest.. no!😊 I have heard about it indeed, And I wonder now if it would have been a solution for this project... I will definitely look into it for future projects!👌
@@ConceptCraftedCreations I have no idea how well it would or would not work on a moving platform, but I could totally see a v2 of this using that as a sort of external sensor. I assume it still also needs something to deal with collision detection?
My other questions for this actually is does it remember it's path and go back to "home" after a time or do you have to put it back?
Also how long does the battery last with this implementation? Seems like it might be power hungry, but that could be solved with like a charging "home" that it docked itself to.
Upgrade it with resberry pi zero w or resberry pi love ur ideas
