I’m buying it! I lost my husband in 2021 and MTB and training has become my therapy. However, I tend to not eat enough. Maybe your awesome food will help me in the nutrition department. I certainly don’t have any trouble putting in the miles and the time in the gym.
Pretty damn excited for this book! I’ve always been intrigued by the food I’ve seen in your videos. Very happy to buy this book for the recipes and to support you guys! Thank you for sharing!
Tip for cutting that cabbage, from when I used to be a chef/cook: take a quarter of it, take out about half of that quarter, then you press flatter the big quarter, slice, and then slice the inside part. Makes it much easier to handle than a huge piece. Proud of y'all for putting together the cookbook! MORE AWESOME!!
G’day Syd and Macky, massive congratulations on the cookbook (and a banging year). I’ve just bought the book and can’t wait to dig in! Thank you, and all the best for the holidays and 2025!
Awesome, just picked up a copy! If you ever put out a nice physical version I'd buy it, too. Same thing for a channel dedicated to the food side of what you do, maybe Macky Makes Meals to round out the offerings? 😂
as a longtime Syd fixes bikes fan, I am absolutely here for Macky cooks food! Also Syd calling me a wimp because I have no spice tolerance, it's very funny.
Interesting choice… a quick google and 50% of the US eat fish: "only occasionally or not at all“, so a bold move to "start on salmon", when many readers judge a book by its cover(story) - I hope it plays out for you: Good luck with the book! I had to smile briefly at the: "experience with shipping physical goods"-comment, I know what you mean: two Xmases ago I decided to sent all of my favourite mtb families an edition of send-it after getting one of our own in the summer and playing it at campsites around Ontario and shipping for small businesses around the globe is challenging.
If we can find a publisher who wants to publish it for us, then maybe, but we have some experience with physical products and shipping, etc and don't want to have to deal with that again 😁
Wow, no one could have predicted this turn of events 😀 A little cilantro goes a long, long way. That's enough for ten meals, or at least ten meals for me. I've often wondered if maybe some people are missing a cilantro tasting gene.
I'm loving the idea of "Macky makes food"... Great idea for the launch and generally absolutely hilarious. Is there any chance of you adding units for the rest of the world eg Celsius and grams or ounces?... Anything but cups (because I can't cope with doing the dishes that much) 🤣
Could you add another payment method, PayPal, I'm reluctant to give out my card details online but would love the book that's why I've been on the site to purchase it. Not sure if you can or not but anyway well done looks amazing
A lot of banks will let you create a single-use card number for just the purpose, it's usually really quick and easy to do, also. You can usually even set a limit for the single-use number, too.
My only contribution to cooking is sharpening each knife my wife needs to use. Every kitchen needs a honing rod. If you can see the very edge of the blade holding it up against a light, it is dull. It should not reflect any light.
This video makes me happy on many levels. So good to see the roles reversed. 😂. So glad to see you guys come out with a cookbook. I was just thinking earlier in the week that that would be nice. I am trying to get a better handle on my nutrition but struggle with all all that stuff. I’m looking forward to the help in the kitchen so to speak. Thank you guys so much for doing this.
I don't recommend eating stuff you can't have large quantities of. sea food should be limited and therefore tracked. Besides that most ppl are going to get farmed salmon which is terrible
With all the popular keto diets and is this the best for a healthy lifestyle can you apply that to athletes ? As we know athletes believe it is important to raise blood sugar levels to support exercising the body athletically having the hormone insulin turning that sugar into energy for the cells . In the keto world it is said that it's not necessary as ketones can take fat and turn it into energy and that is true also . There are 2 avenues for energy in athletes but only the blood sugar route is immediate . The thing is we don't measure glucose levels during at a race event that could tell us we are deficient in glucose to alert us to consume items that could raise blood sugar . That maybe something to test out with a glucose monitor to experiment with . Another aspect is carb loading before an event to store glycogen but as with anything those reserves can become depleted . It's why the body has some redundancy. It's a real balancing act for anyone who is a athlete or wants a healthy lifestyle . I don't agree with a strict keto diabetic unless maybe you have some medical issues like diabetes and sometimes I think athletes may overdo sugars and highly digestible carbs which may create spikes in sugar when you don't need it while at rest . So knowing what to eat at levels of activity maybe helpful . A slower digested carb like a sweet potato maybe appropriate at dinner . Now we also need protein to maintain and build muscle . Those types of protein can be vegetable or protein so that's another factor to consider . Can diet make you faster ? Probably but it would be a process to figure and discipline to stick with it . Other factors is a diet that keeps your cardio vascular system clean . Just a small amount of arterial clogging will affect performance. Athletes are known to have some calcification in their arteries . I am not sure why but diet could be a factor .
Popular doesn't equal intelligent. Keto diets are moronic and only good for one thing; to make you spend more money lying to yourself with more expensive cookies.
Because volume is easily visible. Further, if I give you all measures by fractions of a cup, then it doesn't matter where you are. If you use the same cup, your proportions will be correct. If two people use different cups, one will just have more food leftover. And anyways, you don't need precise weights. Just eyeball it like everyone that cooks from any country (again, why volume is a better measure than weight). And spices you can taste along the way to make sure you are getting what you like.
@cjohnson3836 You must have learned in the US. Cut a carrot into tiny pieces. Cut another into big chunks. Same weight, different number of cups. For those that can eyeball it, they don't need weight or cups, for those that can't, weight is so much better.
@@Fmstrat And yet, despite my American education, I don't need someone to explain to me the concept of density. Or the fact that 1 cup of julienned carrots isn't going to be measured with chunks. Why are you trying to create such a ridiculous scenario? No one is going to tell you the volume of an ingredient in some other cut than what you'd be using. Why the hell would you cut a carrot into chunks to measure, if you know you're going to julienne or dice? Do you like risking your fingers? Most recipes are just going to give you a unit count anyways; say 1 medium carrot, julienned. You must be from Europe and struggle with cooking, as the world knows from your bland ass food. But exact measure is, I say again, not necessary. What kind of white ass kitchen is someone going to be pulling out a scale every prep? "Hold up everyone, we're making curry. Lemme go calibrate my Mettler•Toledo." You write like someone who has never been in a kitchen before.

Thanks for this cookbook! Keep Macky away from sharp objects.

8:18 "measuring spoons and torque wrenches live in the same circle of hell as far as im concerned". My philosophy exactly! Love the channels!
Thank you for teaching Macky to curl his fingers, the way he was holding the onion was giving me the anxiety. 😅

This is great. The role reversal was so much fun to see how your dynamic changes.
Awesome, just picked up a copy! If you ever put out a nice physical version I'd buy it, too. Same thing for a channel dedicated to the food side of what you do, maybe Macky Makes Meals to round out the offerings? 😂

Tony Chachere's creole seasoning is a must have. It will salvage even the most basic and simple meals.
what brand of mini food processor is that? I finished reading the cookbook last night and Im going food shopping today (and food processor shopping)
So glad you mentioned "don't overcook it" for the salmon!!
Nice hoodie! 😃
Love having more athletic focused recipes, instantly bought the cookbook. Will you ever do a print version?
If we can find a publisher who wants to publish it for us, then maybe, but we have some experience with physical products and shipping, etc and don't want to have to deal with that again 😁
Lovely content. Perfect to watch while eating an apple-pork burger after the first day ⛷️.
Tony C’s is where it’s at!
You have a very nice kitchen! It must be a pleasure to cook there.
Always start with the mayo
Peanut butter + spoon, bon appetit 👌🏻

Bought for our nephew he needs to learn to eat to win 😂
Tony’s is the best creole seasoning!

Oh, and I need to make my own cooking technique translator... I had to look up what a broiler is... Confusingly it's what we call grilling in the UK.
I think we need a cooking channel now haha.
Could you add another payment method, PayPal, I'm reluctant to give out my card details online but would love the book that's why I've been on the site to purchase it. Not sure if you can or not but anyway well done looks amazing
We can't do PayPal via the site unfortunately, but Google pay or apple pay should work!
@sydandmacky thank you for getting back to me so quickly, it's a lovely thing you've made

I've never before seen someone measure the Tony's.

Beets and limes are the best

Pretty sure that meal doesn’t qualify for a one-pan dish…😂 just bought the cookbook as I’m always looking for new recipes
3/4 cup of cabbage. Why do our recipes do this? Cook by weight like every other country! 😉
Because volume is easily visible. Further, if I give you all measures by fractions of a cup, then it doesn't matter where you are. If you use the same cup, your proportions will be correct. Excellent choice leading in with fish tacos
