      So true, it all depends on the people you hang out with. We are generally a friendly bunch who will tell it straight but some are just more colourful with word choice.

      Yeah, as a Mexican I can tell you what a lot of people in the US (which is where I grew up) think of as Mexican food is TexMex, most Mexicans have never heard of half of the stuff they sell in Taco Bell.

    I used to work on an American military base where Australians came to visit, and I can say all of this is true. Not only did they about kill me drinking things I didn’t even know existed, they gave me some lanyard pins and drug me back to my room to hopefully survive till the next day. It’s an experience to hang with the aussies. They’re super sweet people though but they will test your limits for sure

    As an American who lived in Australia for 10 years, this is pretty accurate, especially the small citys/rural area. (I lived in the NT)
    Boy, do I miss it there. Friendliest people I've ever known. And with humor/teasing, they can dish it AND take it. Also if they see you have a good sense of humor, they immediately warm up to you. It's great.

    I have been to Australia right before the pandemic started, and let me tell you, almost everyone sounded like Mr. Drunk Pirate, and that is no exaggeration.

    I have lived in Australia since 2006, and spent quite a lot of time selling alcohol. Australians hate Foster's, and call it their export beer. No Australian wants to be caught dead drinking the stuff.

    Australian here. It varies, but yes. In some states it's called "sledging" and it tends to get more common the further you stray from the capital cities, with some exceptions.
    There's no real malice behind it, it's the equivalent of practical jokes. Not aimed at hurting, although some sting, it's about general entertainment.
    As for Foster's, each state has its own local brew, none claim Foster's. It's there but largely ignored.
    Also worth noting, Australian tourists get more Aussie the further they get from Australia.

    When I moved from NZ to scotland (family immigrated from scotland, so I grew up in NZ), my favourite thing was whenever there were australians around I'd either offer them fosters or point out where they can get it - nobody drinks fosters except people that don't know any better. ;)
    Oh, and Bundaberg is really good, but I prefer Mac's or Monteths.

    I think there is a longer version of this around. Where Fluffy goes to the airport and forgets that he has the knife on him... But I could be wrong here.

    Can confirm as a life long Aussie that I never seen natives drinking fosters. Growing up in the country in the state of Victoria, they would drink VB (Victoria Bitter), Carlton Draught and Crown Lager. I have seen more people drinking Corona in my life than Fosters hahahaha I myself hate beer and prefer Gin ;) Much love from Down under :)

    As an Aussie i can say never even talk about fosters you will be made fun of also the good beers are 4x, carlton dry, VB and great northerns and of course you gotta try some Bundaberg rum rather the coke mix or just straight from the bottle i seriously don't understand how Americans think we drink fosters its gross and most bws (bottle shops) don't sell them at all

    Fosters only sells in the USA and the UK. On a rare occasion you might find a can of Fosters but selling in a grog shop but if you buy Fosters to take to a party, you'll be laughed out.

      Piss does mean beer but it can be used in different ways much like mate or cunt can mean the opposite depending on the use. In this case piss was definitely used in a negative way.

    I'm Australian, and I love Fluffy's take on Countries he's visited. India was a riot. But Aussies have changed man! We have a lot of "soy" boys here now. Sad.
