The thing about yoga is breath control, core strength, balance, and fine muscle control related to balance. It can also be mentally relaxing. If I had a good way to go back to yoga I would. I guess I better get serious and look around at options and finding some room so I can get back into it.

@@Razorslash312 if you are doing it correctly you are maintaining regular breathing and several poses you inhale into and others you exhale into and then usually hold the position for a certain number of breaths. Relaxed regulated breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth is part of yoga.

Regarding someone telling you what to eat. In my home town we have a service that prepares for you 3 meals plus a snack 6 days of the week and delivers them packaged evening before.
It has really helped me not have to worry about sticking to the routine, as someone does it for me.

I went on a scuba trip with a yoga instructor many years ago. Each dive was about 45 minutes and most of us would end with about the 1/6 air left in our tank. The yoga instructor would end dives at 60% air left. My mind was blown

I actually stumbled across the trick through working at restaurants. Limit yourself to about 6 main items. Ex. Burgers, hot dogs, pizza, salads, wraps, fried chicken, and just go for what you want from those options that day. 2 or 3 months and you'll be sick of all of them and less excited for the eating experience so you only eat when your genuinely physically hungry. Its still gonna be one of those 6 foods so you're not excited for it

What did it for me personally, while i did sports all my life , was to consider food as fuel, so it didn't matter if it was junk or clean and it was easy to stay on the right course and not care for "comfort food" I still enjoy it but it's all body fuel to me , so that mindset helped a lot.

I get it, but I can attest there's the opposite problem as well. I'm 5'11" and weighed between 165 and 180 for decades. I went down to 120 living in isolation. I'm genuinely struggling to get back to at least 145. A year of effort I've put about five pounds back on. I'm not hungry. I just forget to eat for a day or more.

No one is going to do that for you better than you can yourself, what worked for me was rough calorie counting. I burn 4000 calories a day on average, I used to eat around 4500 calories a day before I ever even looked at calories. Then I decided to try limiting myself to 3000 calories a day, on the average day I ate a 1000 calorie salad, a 1000 calorie sandwich, 1000 calories of something I was really craving that day and a gallon of water and I went super hard with weightlifting. Which ended up increasing my calorie consumption to 4500 to 5000 a day. At one point I was losing 4 pounds a week which is not at all recommended. Also hiking is a good way to burn a ton of calories, on a day that I hiked a trail 9 miles long and 1 mile up I burned 10000 calories total. It also felt like running a marathon though.

The reason people crave things like cheeseburgers, is because wheat and milk are both addictive. They are also common food allergens. Going "low carb" was Fluffy's solution. Take a big breath before eating one, then another a few bites in. If you are wheezing, you have a problem with one, or both. Quitting one could help you feel better than you've ever felt before, and that strength will help you to lose weight.

    How to lose weight:
    1. Cut out snacks, processed carbs, sugars, even artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners may not raise your glucose but it raises your insulin, which over time raises insulin resistance. Cannot lose weight when you eat consistently because you keep your insulin level elevated. You need insulin level to drop to lose weight.
    2. Intermittent fasting. Maybe eat within an 8 hour window, therefore you don't eat for 16 hours. After you eat, it takes a couple hours for your insulin level to drop. Delay breakfast (brake fasting) or skip altogether. Drink water, coffee in the morning, no sugar, maybe splash of cream. Drink green tea for lunch time if you are fasting longer. Even bone broth is great.
Remember to drink a lot of water!
When you eat, eat until you are full. Try not to over eat. Do not starve yourself. Starving yourself lowers your metabolism, so after awhile you will eventually gain back all the weight you lost. When you fast, or voluntarily not eat for a certain amount of time, like 16+ hours, your metabolism does not go down. This is key.
Obesity and in extension diabetes, is not a willpower issue, it is hormonal issue. Elevated insulin is the real issue. Only way to lower it is to not eat. Healthy fats like avacados do not raise your insulin.
Obesity is not your fault. 🙏

All you have to do is eat 1.5 liters of raw cut vegetables every day. Eat everything you want to for breakfast. Get jiggy with it. Make that your big, extravagant meal of the day. But before you can eat anything else that day you have to eat all the cut veg. Make it 2 liters if you're a big dude. Any veg you want, mix it up for variety. No dressing, no dip, no salt; plain raw veg. Put it on your desk and munch on it throughout the day. You are very likely not going to want anything much for supper after that. You actually get tired of eating.

Not "I quit swim team and playing soccer/hockey and then I got fat" but "despite the fact that I was on both swim team and playing soccer/hockey, I still got fat"). And yeah, I've been doing it all on my own and that's why I feel I've failed. What I want is a Food Slapper. Just someone that'll sit next to me, count my calories and such, and if I try and take a bite over my limit, they just *SMACK!* "NO!" slap the food right out of my hand.

Weight loss is basically the math problem of calories in vs calories out. Sugar is a big issue, but so is portion size. Most diets fail because people make drastic changes they can't keep to long term, or even short term.
In order to lose weight, and more importantly keep it off, you have to build up habits that are sustainable. The biggest thing for me was portion control. I'm still eating the same stuff, just less of it. Skip the fries if you go to a fast food joint, don't drink sugar, etc. If you go out to eat turn that meal into 2 or more. Aim for about 1500 calories and you will start loosing.

Yoga exercises help with losing weight through low impact isometric effort (i.e. as opposed to weightlifting/sports which are high impact dynamic exercises) They tend to be easier on the joints, which is important as you get older, and they still build muscle which helps with fat loss and a host of other problems. The DDP yoga program he references has gotten quite a lot of attention in the last few years.

I started doing it about 4-5 years ago at 390lbs 6ft with almost 0 exercise exp and i was able to do a full routine from the start, it wasn't easy and i did have to modify a few poses but i could do it. Plus with the amount of poses out there, it's hard to get bored.
It's great because you don't have to worry as much about busting your joints lifting heavy weights in addition to your (my) obese ass.
Plus it works on a few things that get neglected with a lot of more modern exercises, namely flexibility and stability/balance and breath control.
And while you might eventually have to stop doing weight lifting as you get older, a lot of people can continue doing yoga well into old age.
Nowadays i do yoga 5-6 days a week, i'm still 300lbs+ (Mostly my diets fault) but i'm definitely a LOT healthier and more toned than i was. Just give it a try.

as someone not fully versed on the benefits of yoga, my thoughts are that it is probably beneficial in that increased flexibility and mobility decrease the likelihood of injury, you would be strengthening (probably, not the most knowledgeable on the subject myself) all of the muscles you activate when using free weights instead of machines, and you probably increase body functionality by increasing system flow in places most people ignore.

I must look really really really sad then......I work in retail and I know how hard it is to sit down day in day out with a sandwich, carrots, cheese, fruit and yogurt and then have a couple people sit down with their burgers and poutine around me....the only difference is that while my nostrils give me the craving, I know that I will have more energy at the end of my shift than they will

The problem is for most of the time humans have existed food was hard to come by, so we evolved to crave the foods that have the most calories in the smallest amounts(salty, fatty and sweet) and even after the hunter gatherer phase was over and we started farming we burnt close to the same amount of calories growing food as we got eating it, but today most of us don't have to work as hard but we still eat like farmers who spent 10 hour a day behind a plow.

Yoga helps lose weight by engaging and stretching stabilizing muscles/tendons so that they're engaging more efficiently during normal movement. An added benefit is an increase in overall mobility and flexibility.

There's one I think would be interesting to see your reaction to.
There is a theatre troupe called Starkid that does great parody and satire stuff. They once did a musical called "TWISTED: The untold story of a royal vizier" which, shows the villain's side of a Disney story we all know.
Now, this song is called TWISTED, and all you need to know is the main character has reached a moral quandary at a point of absolute desperation in his life. In this moment of crisis he gets advice from the characters that were in stories his wife used to tell.

If he can fall into ketosis (usually under 30g of carbs a day) it will flip your body around for processing high fats and proteins. A part of it actually reduces your LDL (bad cholestorol) somehow. So if you can handle a carnivore diet this might do it for you.
NOTE: It's still calories in vs. calories out, so you can't eat "more", just differently.

Honestly, working out helps but you can't out exercise a bad diet. Learning how to log food properly and track calories and sodium was a game changer for me. Once you get some momentum, you'll actually feel good enough to want to start to add in exercise.

This kind of surgery, not so much that it's "better" doing it by working out it's that it's not an easy way, you still have to work out and eat right this surgery just helps you get there faster - and if you're a size that warrants this surgery than you potentially don't have a lot of time to lose the weight and get healthier, so anything that speeds up that process is a good thing. However, from accounts I've read/heard it's a rather painful surgery as well.

I've heard u mention that some of these are short & I know the more videos u put out the more revenue so it's more beneficial to react to the bits & pieces of different stand up specials. But I would recommend that 1 day u take the time to watch a whole special in its entirety. Reason I say this is because that's how it's meant to be watched. 1. The transitions into the next joke are cool.2. Alotta comedians have callbacks to earlier jokes in the special. For example u reacted to Fluffy road trip & there's the part where the cop that pulls them over tells fluffy this is the 2nd funniest story of a cop pulling some1 over the only 1 funnier is when a cop pulled over a fat guy & he offered him 🍩. U even said I wouldn't be surprised if it was fluffy & u were right earlier in the show he told another joke about that situation. So when u hear him calling back to the earlier joke it's even funnier than when u only hear the 2nd joke with out the 1st

    • @whocares8584
      @whocares8584 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Also with the callbacks there's some jokes that u might not get unless u heard the earlier joke

Early on your journey, but knowing how to make good tasting healthy food is the only way, with moderate exercise even if it's just walking every day a little bit. Lol learning to hate food is how you get eating disorders, when your diets gotta change your taste buds aren't budggin

what you need is a great workout routine and to count your calories, bro. that's what i'm doing at current and while it's not a fast burn atm, it will be as i get more active, but yeah mostly what you gotta do is stay under 2k in calories, which means no fast food except on cheat days that you can have once a month.

Hey man me and my girl are the same way when it comes to interests and frames of mind. The way I logically made yoga make sense was you are stretching and twisting to activate hard to reach muscles and using body weight and the resistance. So it’s much easier to do more consistently, builds flexibility (which alleviates the pains of some of the aging process), and lastly it’s often done quietly or peaceful so the overall environment is more calm.

I think you just need to learn how to cook, I worked in a fast food shop for a few years & I can make plenty of healthier options fast easy & cheap. If I make hamburgers I use lean beef mince & use short cut fat free bacon (costs a little more if you don’t get it when it’s on special) but little things like that & I lost about 40kg or 88p
I have a lot of mates that will ask me to make Portuguese chicken & bacon kebabs, I make them with skinless chicken no fat bacon & pineapple (just enough to give a sweet surprise) onion if that’s your thing (you can add basically whatever salads you want) cheese & garlic sauce! Even Homer Simpson would be drooling! 🤤

I’m disabled so exercise wasn’t great for me. They tried lapband. It nearly killed me. I never woke up in the middle of the night unable to breathe before that.
What I need is food prepared for me because of that same energy issue (imagine starting your day feeling like you just pulled an all night er as a baseline every day for the rest of your life) but financially is isn’t viable.
I did find a TH-camr that does chair workouts for seniors which has been nice to keep me moving, because I can do it before bed when I am too tired to stand. (Paul Eugene for anyone who has a family member that needs that.)

You don't need to hate food, you just need to get more excited about doing things than you do about eating. Stay doing things. Ditch laziness. Sit for like 15 minutes to 30 minutes at a time. Plan out your day. Stay. Doing. Things. The sedentary lifestyle is the problem. Stay active. You know those guys who are super skinny but eat way more than you? They also never sit still for long. Get busy doing things. You will lose weight.
