Wow thank you Kevin. Not only did you simplify it but you focus and camera were perfect for learning I've been looking for a video like this for months I e. Even carving since Oct 2024 and I suck At 61 and retired I should. Be a pro at carving but grand nephew us better y far.lol
Thanks Kevin for the closeup and the stand-alone eye, It make it easier to follow the steps. I always tried to carve my eyes in an existing project and in existing eye socket. Seeing it carved on a flat showed me I can practice on any piece of wood and not worry about ruining a whole project. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great video Kevin! From that close-up, I was able to see the angles that you were making each cut. Now with a lot of practice, hopefully my eyes should improve. Just what I needed. Thanks!
I was sitting around whittling and came up to making the eyes for my character and couldn’t make a realistic eye. I came across your videos and seen your fisherman and how detailed your eyes were then I found this video and without a single word I have finally master the eye and a hole new way how to carve and I want to thank you. Your videos are very simple and easy to follow and I love seeing you use that old fishtail knife. Your videos are amazing and I hope you keep them coming I watch them very chance I get while I whittle.
Thanks Kevin, useful method of doing eyes, but a lot depends on the wood you are using, that piece you did, and a good Flexcut type knife will work nicely for a carving genius like yourself, but people like myself with some arthritis in the fingers not so easy!!! I do appreciate the tutorial though and it was thoughtful of your good self to post this as this is a good one to master, Regards and have a good weekend
This exercise will give me a lot more confidence, thank you. Though it does kinda look like a poster for a 50’s SciFi movie when seen all alone, doesn’t it? Is that pine you’re working on there?
Kevin, could you do a video on wood grain. I attempted to cut an eye like this video shows, but when I cut the upper cut in the lid, disaster happened. I suspect it was the grain of the wood?

Very helpful. Thanks.
Thank you so much. THE ALGORITHM IS VERY SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD. YOU CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THE EYES AND SHAPE THE EYELIDS AND ALSO CUT.
Thanks. You’re welcome
Thanks Kevin .
You’re welcome Glen

Yeah you’re right. It does. White pine. Glad it helps
Thank you.
Ha just found your video on eyes yours look brilliant mine are more of a hole lol
Great video Kevin! I have a question , do you use this kind of eye on 1x1 wood or because it would be to small use another method? Thanks !
The smaller they are the harder to do. Slits would work much easier on that size
@@KevinCoates98 Thanks Kevin !
Thx again Kevin good video!
👍🏻 thanks
Having trouble with the eyelids. Is your knife going in at an angle to make V cuts? Thanks for making this video!
I cut up on a little angle for the top one. The bottom one is not as fragile. It’s better to make a few lighter cut till you get the hang of it
Ah, thanks Kevin. Yeah, that upper lid crumbled a couple of times. Thanks again!
Thx for the tutorial, very helpful. How are your pumpkin carving skills?
Thanks Scott. Hope it helps. Have never carved a pumpkin
Kevin, could you do a video on wood grain. I attempted to cut an eye like this video shows, but when I cut the upper cut in the lid, disaster happened. I suspect it was the grain of the wood?
It’s takes some careful cutting on eyelids
Tks
Great ❤
Thank you
This will be helpful thanks !
Your welcome

Looks like you're carving everything out of *soap* ! Mine would've splintered off multiple times. Thank you 🙏🏼
Sharp knife and soft wood

Good vid. I see the thumbs getting better too lol.
Thanks. That’s the second time I banged that one this year

So, Kevin! How about a couple of noses for us!
Brett I will keep that in mind for when I get some time to do another video
helpful video. Bet your a dab hand at peeling potatoes.
Thank you Terence. Probably would but I always have them with the peel. Lol
Bardzo ładnie i faktycznie szybko
