Nice review, glad you like your XPS. I found a local seller on a classified site and picked up a XPS 9250 w/ i7 -12700H, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD and RTX 3050i graphics card. It only had the FHD 1920x1200 ips screen but I typically hook it up to my OLED tv and close the lid and use an external kybd/mouse. I'm very happy with it so far, I'm an eletronics engineer and have to run windows for the programs I use and this thing is very fast. I got it for an insane price of $250 so I upgraded to 32gb for another $100. It's a 2022 model but I think I'll redo the paste as you did on the cpu and gpu to see if it runs cooler. Keep up the good work, I did subscribe and hope to see what the other laptop you picked up is.
The i9 will get throttled in this laptop, as the cooling system is not designed for it. Stick with i7, if possible. This is for anyone else who is thinking about getting that i9, as you probably already have it;).
Thank you for this amazing review. As of someone who’s willing to buy a new laptop, i was wondering what about a older laptop with insane specs and this made me wanna buy one for sure. The only matter i am concerned about is the noise in fans. I’ve had an asus rog and it did bother me a lot specially in class. I was wondering if this laptop has fan noise issue. Again thank you so much and i really enjoyed the video! Cheers mate!
Dude! Merry Christmas to you. Have you decorated a Texas cactus for your home? Is there anything you can’t do? Amazing brain in your head and so talented and gifted. Have a great holiday and I’m looking forward to your video’s next year. How come you haven’t reviewed your Apple Watch Ultra? I’m waiting to purchase until you give approval. 😂Cheers!
Merry Christmas, Pete. haha no cactus but I have a light that spins and projects snowflakes on the walls, so that's pretty neat. Thanks for the kind words and more videos to come next year. I'm working my way up to the AWU. That one I feel like is going to be a big project that I haven't put time into producing, yet. It's a great Apple device and it deserves a quality video.
ive been doing this for a while. i bought a precision 5550 with the 10750h, 16/t1000, and sure its not top of the line, but i bought it for get this: $350. and it also had warranty until september 2024, so i just utilized the most of that warranty, and i got a basically brand new laptop for 350. bought it to replace an aging latitude 7280, especially since ive gotten more into development and stuff. now just waiting on an xps 9360 with an 8250u, a bit beat up, but 60 bucks is literally less than what the motherboard itself would be selling for. this is genuinely the best way to get top machines for cheap, and i hope to biy a couple more xps/precision machines before they all go soldered everything.
Great video review! I have had the XPS15 9570 since early 2019. It has been a great laptop. It goes to work with me every day. I just bought a replacement palmrest w keyboard because the palmrest finishing got sticky and soft. Is your palmrest sticky?
Hey, I'm planning to buy one from the same seller, I'll be using it mainly for coding and watching series (I'm wondering if it could run some emulators like cemu or yuzu). So I would like to thank you for your review and advice, and if you have anything else to say about your experience with the device or if you had any other issues like throttling or random restarts, I would like to know. Thanks in advance (sorry for any misspelling, english is not my native language)
It's great for web dev and consuming content. Not sure on emulators but the 8750h is still a fairly powerful cpu. The laptop has been great. Glad you enjoyed the video!

It does thermal throttle, yes. However, I think you have to look at it for what it is. It's a slim laptop with not a lot of opportunities to exhaust heat. That's due to the massive processor Dell puts in these. There's tons of performance metrics on this laptop by now so I'd recommend looking at those and if that performance is what you are looking for then perhaps this laptop may suit your needs. Despite the thermal throttling, mine was able to edit 4k h.265 footage which is pretty impressive given this is an older laptop.
I'm not familiar with those programs, but check out the docs for the hardware requirement. That should give you a good idea if this will meet your needs.
All good suggestions for sure. I did re-paste the cpu and it helped a little. These machines ran hot new and aging just makes it worse. I wouldn't say it's intolerable though.
