Synopsis:
During India and Pakistan partition in 1947, a schizophrenic writer named Khalid who belongs to one of the wealthiest families of Punjab is trying hard to finish writing a novel which he believes is going to be the greatest story ever told. While the communal tension between Hindus and Muslims is escalating, the writer seems to be lost in his own world of the story and its characters! As his servants abandon him one by one, he is left with his Novel’s characters alone. Still stuck at the same scene, he is unable to come to a satisfactory ending for the novel. The line between reality and imagination is fading. In the end, he is about to have a mental breakdown, when suddenly in that chaos, he finds his ending for the novel! But just before he puts that on the paper, he gets killed by the mob.
