My Favorite Roller Coasters by Year from the 2000s

- he last time I made a video like this, I provided you with my favorite roller coasters from the nineties. Well, now it's time to move over into the new millennium. The 2000’s were one of the most influential years for roller coasters. Its the birthplace of our modern roller coasters. Manufacturers were trying newer, crazier concepts to entice the public.

There might never be a year like 2006 again. Those were the good 'ol days and we didn't even know it.
So many great years to pick from!
I have barely ridden any rollercoasters in Europe or USA from the 2000s. But with my recent trip to Japan and going by my bucketlist I went ahead and made a list anyway:
2000: Steel Dragon 2000
2001: Phantom's Revenge
2002: X2
2003: Thunder Dolphin
2004: Storm Runner
2005: SheiKra
2006: Eejanaika
2007: Maverick
2008: Kawasemi
2009: Manta
Steel Dragon 2000 was my first gigacoaster. I was in the last row and I was not prepared to have the rug pulled from underneath as I flew over that first hill. I screamed out loud.
I have not ridden Phantom's Revenge but like Steel Dragon 2000 it was also made by Morgan and that ravine drop looks very special. Bucketlist coaster.
X2 is a bucketlist coaster after falling in love with Eejanaika.
When I went to Tokyo Dome City Thunder Dolphin had not opened for the season. But I got a good look at it from the ferris wheel. It was on top of my bucketlist when I came back to Tokyo but an unexpected change in the plans on the last day made me miss it. Next time Thunder Dolphin!
I have not ridden Storm Runner but it is on the list.
Since I barely consider top hat launch coasters to be rollercoasters (they are more like drop tower rides to me) I have SheiKra on top of my bucketlist for 2005.
What can I say, Eejanaika is amazing. It was made even scarier as I was sitting next to the young man who played Toshio in Sadako VS. Kayako.
Hollywood Dream: The Ride was closed when I visited Universal Studios Japan so I had to do with The Flying Dinosaur. But Maverick looks more exciting anyway.
Out of all the coasters in Japan, Kawasemi made my heart beat the hardest. A true adrenaline rush!
I did not ride Manta but I rode it's clone: Acrobat. That ride was so smooth and graceful! And it had a huge edge over the other flying coaster on this trip: It had no lines!
My first ride on Superman the Ride was also in 2019, and my first ride on it was one of my favorite single coaster rides of my life. It easily topped Millennium Force for me, and it might even be my favorite Intamin.
2002 easily goes to X2 for me.
2005: a smoother Hades 360 would get my pick, but instead, it goes to Kingda Ka.
2006: I love El Toro, but Voyage gets my pick.
2007: Maverick is my pick, but only a smidge ahead of Boardwalk Bullet.
2008: I love Fahrenheit too. I give Ravine Flyer II the edge, but after last year's rough rides, this pick could end up flipping.
2009: Prowler is an easy pick for me, but Manta is also very elite in my books.
Never been on Prowler , Hades 360 or Boardwalk Bullet, but they are on my list

Here is my list. I also state a coaster that I would expect to be the top of that year if it differs from mine:
2000- Millennium Force (Rode) Objectively- Katun may give it a run for its money if it is as good as Montu
2001- Expedition GeForce (Rode) slightly over Phantom's Revenge (Rode)
2002- X2 (Rode)
2003- Top Thrill Dragster (Rode) Objectively- Balder with its airtime is probably the better coaster. I need to get on it.
2004- Thunderhead (Rode) slightly ahead of Storm Runner (Rode) Objectively- Superman El ultimo Escape- Looks like to be on par with Magnum XL-200. It would probably top the list for me.
2005- Kingda Ka (Rode)
2006- El Toro (Rode) slightly over Voyage (Rode) although the gap is narrowing- Objectively I think Eejanaika is probably the best coaster
2007- Maverick (Rode)
2008- Ravine Flyer II (Rode) Objectively I think T Express is the best coaster from this year
2009- Prowler (Rode) slightly over Blue Fire Megacoaster (Rode) Objectively I think I Speed is the best from this year

I'd say modern coasters started in the 70's (since that's when the 1st SAFE inversions were introduced) but the 1st decade of this millennium (2000- end of 2009) best achieved what all great coasters before them were also built to achieve; bigger drops, faster, and longer.
I'm a lil' upset you forgot about Behemoth, the 1st B&M hyper with staggered trains, with a 226' drop and an immediately following camelback, followed by a turnaround, followed by 3 camelbacks, then a downward helix to beat Nitro's uphill (but probably not Goliath's at SFOG's downhill) helix.
But I love that this started with Millennium Force and ended with Diamondback; 2 coasters I LOVE much more than most 'thusies in '24 do; they're both within my top 5 out of over 160, as well as SV, Fury and Behemoth. The Cyclone, Ghostrider, Raging Bull, El Toro, Nitro are the other 5 of my top 10, with Nitro and Intimidator (or whatever it's called now) coming in next. Thanks for posting!
Didn't mention it because I never rode it. Hopefully will get to Canada's Wonderland next year
