  • Here's a brief tutorial on how to set up your NanoVNA to detect the presence of NFC tags and their resonant peak. Skip to 10:55 to just see it in action.

Thank you for a nice video. How to design a red reader antenna ?? just making a circle shape with copper wire?

Yes basically. You can also buy H-field probes that screw directly on with the SMA connectors. If you want to make your own just use 1-8 turns of copper wire. Don't use too many turns or the impedance characteristics of the coil will get in the way of your measurements. You're also going to want the diameter of the coil to be approximately the same as the tag you're trying to read to get good coupling.

Hi. What is the aim of your implant? Is for any health condition?

I have several and I help design them. They're not currently being used for medical purposes, but it would be nice to provide basic health information one day. The one in the video is a NExT. It can be programmed to replace many different kinds of access control cards, and also share my contact information with any mobile phone. It has no battery and only receives power from the reader device.

Have you ever made your own reading antenna? Maybe for a PN532 connected to an Arduino perhaps?

I have for a PN7462. The impedance matching and EMC filter circuits can be a bit finicky if you're trying to make a custom antenna outside of the normal size range NXP recommends for EMV certification. Check out the NXP document AN11706 for more details. There may even be one specifically for the PN532, although I haven't checked. There's serious chip shortages right now, so it's wise to make sure you can even source the PN532 in your locale before creating a novel design with it. If you want to talk more about the technical considerations I'm willing to chat.

@@vivokeyprodev so would you recommend that chip if I was creating a 15 x 15cm 13.56 mHz reader antenna?
