Just got started watching your videos, your work is amazing, can't decide what I want to print/build, I've never done a project like this but it fascinates me I'm subscribed just now
Looking good. I learn something in all of your videos. It looks like the leading edge of the escapement forms a tiny hook to hold the anchor until the balance wheel releases it. The cycloid gears look like they should print better. The involute probably has a tiny gap fill at the tip of each tooth. This adds a lot of retraction steps that creates extra stringing which ultimately results in a rougher tooth surface. Cycloid gears are a bit more effort since the pinions need to be regenerated for different main gears.
Thanks The width of the cycloid pinion leaves are 0.83 mm wide at the narrowest the tip has no fill At first I thought they would not print well but they do come out nice and strong Yes the involute has a blob of fill that I do not like much I does take some work to get the backlash right on the involute so in the end the cycloid is not that much more work I bought a mechanical alarm clock on Amazon It has a pin lever escapement the use cycloid profile for the gear train And involute for the winding and other non critical gears Yes the escape wheel has some lock to pull and hold the anchor in place The anchor is getting close to the smaller size parts can be done with a 0.4 mm nozzle And getting a clean 1 mm hole can be a challenge too It is very easy to have the pins crooked and the dimensions are out of specs On the plus side of small parts, it only takes 10 to 20 minutes to print the escape wheel or the anchor Fun Stuff
Hello, Jacque, I've been following you for a long time. The videos you post seem formidable to me. I'm building a pendulum clock, but the pendulum stops a lot. It could be that with this system I would give the pendulum constant movement. Thanks for the attention you can give me. to make a toas
Another great video in a world where it is so hard to find good information. Thank you!
