Aberration will always be my favorite map (unless Fjordur knocks it out of the park). I’ve played it multiple times and I still daydream about starting over again. Such a terrifying, beautiful, unique experience.
Best time I ever had in Ark was my first play through on Aberration. I built in the same spot as your first solo spot (Season 4?) at the waterfall that borders green/blue. Absolute blast.
I gotta say that your editing of videos is spot on. I've delved into it a bit lately and it no small feat to present the content smoothly. Hats off boss!
Thanks for the inspiration, great video! My current base is a bridge I built across the central huge waterfall (lat 44, lon 54) next to a charge station and in close proximity to some gas veins. But with a lot of spinos and crabs, walls of dino gates are recommended... I believe the allure of the portal area is for your first "hut" when starting abberation, because there are enough herbivores around to shake persuing raptors/ravagers. Having 2-3 trikes and a taming pen helps to pacify the area, before moving on 🙃 I still died a lot before getting settled enough to start looking for a more serious base location. A big plus of the island area you recommended at 10:36 is the number of trilobites that you can farm for oil for an early start into industrial tech. Also, otters are so darned cute...
Now I have some great ideas for when I get there! This map always gets my heart racing just watching you go through it! Thanks for informative video Phlinger!
I miss playing Aberration. I built a base between the lake in the Blue zone and the radiation of the Red zone. (Where you were @ 17:47 ) Built an unlocked Reaper trap, and I could farm Reapers for hours, since my base was right near by, Pretty much stayed on that map for 2 years, until the server was wiped, and I didn't have the heart to rebuild and start over.
If you do build where nameless spawn a couple tricks: After you build your walls make sure to light up the whole area with Z plants. Build the planters on foundations of foundations so you can easily box them off with walls as needed below. Get a Perasaur, your pery will ping all the nameless in the ground. If you et a ping inside your base, wall off the area around the pings and box up your zplant there. Use a spino/mega to kill them off. Once all the pings are gone, you can unbox your z plant and take down the temp walls. The nameless won't spawn there again as long as you keep the ground covered with charge light. Do remember that you need light to cover any ground under ceilings and that charge light dosn't pass through glass or railings, so a lit up 'basement' isn't a bad idea if you can't fully cover with foundations.
14:45 That is precisely where I built my base a while back. That tree over there. My army was parked right where he's standing. Never really thought about why I never had nameless problems, I just assumed they would be spawnblocked.
Hi Phlinger great vid loving them all. :) would u consider or think about doing a all spawn locations on all maps like u did with Lost Island? love to see them all. sorry iam a noob lol
I can't wait for Aberration on ASA. The UE5 graphics will be stunning on this map, and the wifi water system will open so much more of the map as viable bases.
You missed my favorite green spot. 52ish 25ish high up above glowtail. It has water, drop spawn, rich metal nodes and if you use elevators you can go down into a non-radiation spot of red for poly.
The water intake pipe ini file hack is worth it so that you can build in cool places, but if you are on a server that doesn't use it you want to of course be near the water.
That is absolutely hilarious my base is literally on that River like you are like 20 meters from my base glad when Im glad I built in a place that you suggest to build in
It’s the hardest map I have tryed to build on about 30 times I have died. On my second base had raptors in my first one that’s with the door shut. Near where u first come in on that pond
I actually set up in the portal area. i set up on those ledges, Right next to the bridge. Its super flat, lots of room for tames and builds, theres water in a nearby lake that can be run to base, entrance to the surface, and lastly theres resources on top of the plateaus on either side. The only drawback is the damn basilisks. Youll have to block off a significant amount of the area to prevent them from spawning in your base. I built a wall large enough to stop a reaper, and never had any issues after that. Safe as can be, You know, inside the base. Outside was... Problematic. I initially set up there because the map confused me, but once I got water there was no point leaving
Really? you recommand people to build their base at rich ressource areas? videos like this is the reason why people build on rich metal spawns and block them!
Aberration taught me to cherish and appreciate my PC and mods; if I didn’t have a sink that irrigates itself, I probably wouldn’t have had fun on this map. 😂 Just because I wouldn’t have been able to build and sustain myself, in my favorite base spots. Not without immense pain and suffering.

We had a great base in the red zone. Key - vacuum compartments and Tek shields.
