- Ever wondered which player title was the rarest? Me too! I've compiled a list of the 15 rarest NMS titles based on the difficulty of tasks required as well as obscurity. We're going over what makes each title rare and how to unlock them. But hey, this is just my interpretation. What do you think?

sooo...i was the one the figured out how to unlock the pigram and the watched throught data mining while working with the AssistantNMS team and updated the wiki...sorry about the cryptic wording...the short verson on how to unlock the watched is you need to find a series of stranded korvax piots, and fix their ships, i forget how many but i think it was like 6, and as you get through the lore they tell, you eventually earn the title...the watched is referring to the fact that the korvax are going to be "watching" you for now on...they think you are kind of sus iirc....tbf i found that info back in October of 2022 --Cyberpunk2350

@@Kanaju you are most welcome. i was thinking about it some more, and i think it was the random npcs at debire site and not the stranded pilots, it's been a while and it's a real fuzzy memory...that said even i havn't got this one yet lol. i will need to look into it again and see if i can find my notes, if you are on discord hit me up on the assistant apps server!

I don't believe it is Korvax pilots that unlock it. It is Korvax NPCs that you find at locations that only have a save pole and some random junk but no starship. You have to speak with the NPCs and/or interact with the piece of broken machinery next to them. After you see a bunch of them(~10 iirc, give or take) the title will unlock. At least that's how I unlocked it anyway, I don't believe that stranded pilots by crashed ships work but I could be wrong. Finding the stranded dudes without ships can be tedious as there is no easy way to find them...just fly around with your ship and constantly scan and check out the locations the scans pick up.

I like how much content exists in this game without anything calling attention to it. Kind of reminds me of the early days of WoW when you'd see someone riding a cool mount you wanted and you'd end up going down a rabbit hole of obscure quests that are off the beaten path.
The “of glass” title is my personal favourite…I thoroughly enjoyed the lure from the boundary failures 🖤❤️🛸
I can proudly claim Iteration 1 status. I was so psyched for NMS that it is, to date, the only game I've pre-ordered. Still haven't used the free pre-release ship we got as an additional bonus because I'm weird like that. Played casually until NEXT. After that its pretty much my only game. Another great vid. I use it as my title just because I wanna show off that I’m an OG in at least one game.
I am the same. I rarely claim the golden vector cus I don't wanna end up selling it to make space.
And I kept the expidition saves that we got special ships in, just cus. And I never play them.
They should add one “Conquerer of the silent void” or something for warping to each of the 250 galaxies. That would be badass

I got “The Boundary Walker” from somewhere years ago. I’ve never wanted to change it since.
Inspired by this video.. I just made the Immortal/Survivor titles (permadeath center)..
And the hardest part was RIGHT at the end - just bad luck.
I got the "oh, now head / warp to the center.." and on the first warp -- freighter battle. grr
They say "climb that tower to tell everyone that the universe is ending. So I land, get out of my ship. And fall THROUGH the surface of the planet (I am in PERMADEATH).
Luckily, I jetpack during the fall and the game realizes/generates a cave system, WAY deep. So I laser my way to the surface. I climb the tower as a heat-wind storm comes in... gosh dangit.. I'm burning during the NEXT-NEXT-NEXT dialogs.
Then on last warp, I get jumped by pirates when heading for portal planet. grrr
So I get out of my ship, go into the portal. Get yelled at by Atlas, sent to some portal where I have to CHARGE up the portal. Oh, it's an aggressive sentinel planet with radiation-storm. I'm getting beaned by sentinels (lots) while trying to charge the portal.
Made it to next galaxy (Calypso) with 20% health. They damaged my shield tech before I left Euclid.
Joke is on them cause the jump to next galaxy broke ALL the tech anyway.
First planet in calypso was radiation nightmare planet, and I was sure I was going to die, but I had ion batteries and life-support gel.
I GOT THE TITLE... Took me 70 hours tho. I am not good at going fast on these games.

I just chees'ed it😅. find a portal, a trailer in a space station for the first gliph and warp to 6 ly from the center
Tip: you can keep the emergency broadcast receiver in you put it in your portable refiner after arriving at the freighter hope it helps anyone trying to get Salvager (title 9)
The expedition titles(and that Nexus story based one) hurt the most. Because unlike pre-order title, they didn't involve any risk or extra money to pay, if you just didn't play at that time you'll never be able to because you missed them. But you can still never have them.
Yeah, but unlike the preorder, they're probably still attainable. If you're patient.
Hello Games, has rerun the first four expeditions, so it isn't beyond hope they may do 5-8 or even all again.

I just reached the Center in permadeath just before I watched this video. It did complete both achievements for permadeath and survivor mode. i am a day one player but I don't remember if I preordered.
After going through what seemed like an infinite list of tit;es, I am happy to announce I did pre-order NMS. No one will likely ever see it because I rarity ever play MP.. In game, I will forever be, Xampyre111, Iteration 1!

For me, "The Watched" was the most difficult to obtain. I was only able to locate one Korvax Scavenger per system, and it took a long time to find enough of them to trigger the Title.
For Warden of Glass, I got it but never completed the Artemis quests. I'm 70 percent sure I got it after finding a burial site and using some memory thing an apparition gave me, but it wasn't really that recent so my memories not too sharp.
Allow me to scream and shout and announce to the world I am a Iteration One! I was so hyped it was the first game I ever bought on Steam. For some reason I did enjoy the incomplete game at the time. I was 13.😂

My personal "Rarest" are what i call the "Anti-titles" which i define as those which when not earning them is what makes you great
Let me explain. They are the ones you earn by DYING.
There is one for each dangerous biome (the Incierated, the Frozen, the Irradiated, the Corroded) then theres a few other forms of death (the Hunted, the Drowned, the Exhausted, thr Purified, the Unfortunate, the Reckless snd the Consumed)
I actively avoid earning these by not dying, to me that seems the way to treat these titles - as things you AVOID earning
Since i play only Survival and Permadeath, avoiding Death Titles seems smart
I think they should make a minor adjustment to these titles and give us their _opposites_ at Character birth, then switch them as we die, and maybe have one all encompassing title that you _lose_ at your first death, and of course this should be account wide

As someone who has the immortal title, I can say the one for freighters and for sentinel pillars is more difficult due to the boredom associated with grinding for them
I have to disagree. You're going to do more than enough derelicts to get there just looking for one that drops an S class module let alone actually farming it. And you get lots of maps for sentinel towers from killing sentinels so you don't even need to do the full number. Like, not even close. You'll get several maps from the sentinels you kill to clear the first one and that'll even point you at one. I don't think either of these belonged on the list personally. There are ones on there that take far more grinding of many more tedious things.

during expeditions I tend to share resources if I find random players :D I happened to me once and it was super helpful so I always try to do the same to others, now bcs of this vid imma have to go title hunting xD
Now that is has been a year, you need to do another video to show us your updated titles and what you have learned for new or old titles that might had been a shroud of mystery! =D

Took a while to realise this is a personal top 15 and not a ranking by rarity. Still kinda interesting, I never bothered with the social side of NMS but I guess having "1st Iteration" would only attract attention. The titles should give small cosmetic effects for solo players, maybe skins for the docking bay of your freighter or something.
Yeah, it's nearly impossible to determine statistically which titles are the rarest without access to raw player data, so I had to interpret what I did know. I would love if certain titles came with special bonuses too, even if they were just text effects. Thanks for watching!

funny thing I noticed, doom eternal and nms have extremely similar rewards for completing their "hardest" modes
both reward you with the title "immortal" for completing permadeath in nms and ultra nightmare in doom eternal (nightmare difficulty with one life)
after nearly 580 hours in NMS in a single save, i am title hunting, and this helped i was a Pre order so i have the Iteration 1

This reminds me of Star Wars The Old Republic. I loved that game but was constantly reminded that I didn't get the Founder title because of a technicality. I got the game on day one and had pre-ordered a special edition too that came with a statue! But it also came with a free month of play that was automatically applied, and they wouldn't give me the title because my card wasn't charged until the 2nd month.
I have iteration 1 I didn't even know about it untill about 4 or 5 months ago, and just equipped it for the first time today.
I finally just did the Dreams of the Deep mission lol.
Yeah its kinda boring. Its several trips of 5-10 minutes of putzing along in the submarine between points.
If you do a lot of cooking, you get plenty of those monster eyeballs from doing it at least, and they are used in some pretty rare, valuable cakes and stuff.
When I got the quest, I didn't know you had to stay in the same system for this quest. Fast forward a month later, I find out you get a cool helmet and bam. Here i am spending hours to go back :D
I am very happy to say I have all but four of those named. Only 14 more to go to have them all.

Just had to jump on whist watching this and I do have the Iteration 1 title. Never clicked that it was a pre order thing. The pre order ship has always been a great bonus to the initial start of a new save.
Iteration 1 hurts lol. I preordered the game but when it released it didn't run on my laptop so I got a refund. I picked up the game again in 2018 once I had a new PC that could run the game but lost all the preorder bonuses. Bit of a shame but it is what it is I guess.
EDIT: Also wanted to mention that I think "of Ickjamatew" is harder to get than "of Eltiensleen". You can jump to Budullangr->Kikolgallr->Elteiensleen in 3 galaxy jumps while getting to Ickjamatew takes 4: Calypso->Hesperius->Hyades->Ickjamatew.
That is a sad tale indeed! And I realized the galaxy thing as I was editing, which is why I put that giant MORE OR LESS on screen. lol But I still contend that unless someone specifically jumps to Budullangr, Eltiensleen is still pretty far back. This is where I wish we had player stats, because I know Eissentam and Hilbert are pretty popular, even Calypso to an extent, but Budullangr has never been as prominent in the community as far as I've seen. 🤷♂️ Who actually knows though. lol Thanks for taking the time to look it over and comment!

I do dreams of the deep mostly because i actually love the helmet you get. Also not goa lie i actually always wondered what it was in the underwater cave that killed the crew.

Using said method, i was able to get to Budullangr as my first galaxy out of Euclid. And I think I'm a decent way towards getting to the next galaxy. So maybe I'll get to have that Eltiensleen title soon enough. Hahaha
at number 11 i did get this at a space station from a weird machine that took up 3.9/4 quarters of the room

I have the iteration 1 title and the PC preorder ship completely maxed out. I have never seen anyone using the iteration 1 title, but I do see the preorder ship every once in a while.
The Titan title was sought after because it was litterally bugged ever since titles came out lmao, I just suddenly had it unlocked after logging in one update.

Salvager is something anyone grinding out their freighter would have very quickly.
In a 4 room derelict running straight to the final terminal takes a 1-2min.
The Immortal is my favorite. Mostly because I've done it 5 years ago.

Great vid. Quick question. I completed the Pole Star Expedition and have collected all the items from the milestones. Since the expedition is no longer active, after setting it as a "regular" save, is it now ok to delete it without risking loosing access to those items?
Once you unlock an item in an Expedition, any other saves you have can go to the Quicksilver dude in the Nexus and claim then. Even saves on other platforms.
Yes. Once you claim the items they're available to all characters and once the expedition is over, you can't get anymore. So, it is safe to delete as long as you've claimed all the rewards you earned on the expedition character.

I think you're underestimating some of the innocuous ones. There are a bunch in there you just have to grind out and most people won't do that. That said, I'd love to see an official list.

I pre-ordered the day before release because i was unsure about it, but i said fk it i want the special ship and stuff. I was immediately disappointed with the game but still somewhat enjoyed it for a while. I remember day 1 there were those strangers that should meet each other but didn't 'WAIT THERE'S NO MULTIPLAYER??" good times

I'm proud to say I have Iteration 1, I wish I had more to show for it, like some insane items, or farms but I didn't play it for a while because school, and life moving fast, so I couldn't get into and learn more of it by being part of the community throughout its early life. I just got back into it seriously like a year ago, and I'm *STILL* learning so much everyday I play it. Just recently I've decided I'm fed up with not being able to afford anything so I've dedicated a solid week every other week to farming nanites from molds, and several worm planets (one has aggressive sentinels, another is almost devoid of sentinels, and another one has storm crystals I use to make hypercores)
I also visit public indium farms for units, and just recently I figured out how to get upgrades for my living ship :D
I had to complete drams of the deep because I couldn't stand having that mission unfinished. Also I noticed that I could get the underwater base blueprints for free. Also wasnt that difficult to complete. It was all on the same planet.

I've only ever been to Hilbert and Eissentam (from the story quest) but I have every galaxy title. I think you get all the previous galaxy titles if you go to a further one?

I built my first PC because No Mans Sky was coming out. So I pre-ordered it. lol I was dissapointed at first but looks like it paid off.
I hate when games have a preorder bonus that can't be obtained any other way

@@Kanaju unless the anomaly featured bases are in different galaxies, I have not. Only the ones on the anomaly and that's few and far in-between.

It's not rare, but my current favorite title is Destroyer of Glass, mainly because it sounds like I'm a petty vandal if you don't know the proper context.
