16 valves are only temperamental if running the old CIS or digi ignition systems. My 16V rabbit rips. On bike carbs with 268 cams, crazy simple and dead reliable. You'll have to take a ride in it at one of the shows coming up. I'll have it in Helen.

I have a MK3 with the ABA in it .. hince my profile pic .. mine has been sitting for like 3 years now due to over heating .. still starts and drives but build pressure in the coolant system .. no oil and coolant mixing tho .. I believe I need a new head gasket .. how hard is that job to do ? Would you recommend pulling the motor and doing that job on an engine stand?
No need to pull out the engine, just lift the head, make her rebuild, if needed, put new head gasket, use new bolts. Also i advise to change timing belt, its tensioner and oil seals (crankshaft, camshaft, oilpump/distributor shaft). Sorry for my English, it's not my native😁
@@РусланПутинцев-н2п thanks for the advice .. i did plan on doing a major refresh on seal and things thats why i thought i should just pull the engine out. Original motor. its a 1996 and my mother bought it in 1998.. it only has 135k ish miles so i know it still has life in it. thanks again
