Agreed. Absolutely amazing game. On the heels of other hack and slash games like Devil May Cry (which should have been on this list too) but with a much more involved story. Each circle of hell was a unique landscape with new enemies and stories. Spoiler ahead: finding your parents at different levels and other personal connections throughout the game as well as fighting Lucifer himself at the end. Spectacular. Makes me want to go play it again.
Really appreciate the positive messages you add to the end of your videos. Sometimes a voice in the dark is all someone needs to take that first step towards that light. Thank you for being that voice.
@@nenadnidzovic6603 It's all good bud. I've suggested it every week, since the beginning. This is a low amount of likes for it haha, it'll get made one day.
Hellblades river of bodies is scary but the one that made me genuinely anxious was when I was running from the fire. You can't fight it, you can't outsmart it, you just have to keep running and after that level I had to pause the game and step away for a minute. But it still the best video game I have ever played and I plan on doing a replay very soon.
I loved Grim Fandango as a kid :D Also, could Kingdom Hearts: A Fragmentary Passage (part of the Final Chapter Prologue) count? Yeah, it's pretty short compared to the other games in the series, but you play as Aqua running through the Realm of Darkness as she's haunted by her inner demons that take the form of her reflection, telling her she'll never make it out. Even for a Disney game, that sounds like a scenario where you're being dragged through Hell to me.
Daniel IS a good name for the protagonist in painkiller Jules, literally means God is my judge. there's your fact for the day, keep it smooth egg Daddy
Let's see if i can come up with 10 more. Minecraft, call of cthulu, Brutal legend, Elder scrolls: Oblivion, West of dead, Spawn: Armageddon, Diablo, Darksiders: Genesis, Dungeons & Dragons online, and Mario maker 2: Super expert no skip. Don't believe me? Check out the 8 bean burrito levels. There are a ton more out there too, what are some of the ones you remember?
10 music action scenes in games such as the ashtray maze in control; or the airport shootout in max payne 3; or or the sea of corpses in hellblade senua's sacrifice.
Kudos for the shout out for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Truly, an AMAZING game. For anyone who hasn't played this title. Headphones. HEADPHONES ARE A MUST. This game is one of the single best experiences you could hope to play through IMO. Utterly stunning and unsettling with one of the most honest and ruthless depictions of mental illness that the devs could have put together. Utterly brilliant.
Hey Jules! I’ve got an idea for your next TYOA! With the end of this console generation around the corner, it got me thinking about mascots/flagship characters. When you think of Nintendo, you think of Mario. When you think of Xbox, you think of Master Chief. But who would we consider the flagship/mascot character for PlayStation? Thanks mate!
Your voice comes out so metallic from your cam's mic you should use it and mix it with the recorded nice-mic audio for your musical segments (supposing you manage to actually record from the nice-mic). Thanks for your videos!
I don't know when exactly your birthday was Jules, but happy birthday mate and I hope you remember that you are awesome too. Thanks for the great content to you and everyone over at WhatCulture.
Audio issues or not, I will always watch these videos. Jules is worth it cuz he makes me smile and I absolutely love his fucking face!!! From one egg head to another... thank you for being awesome:)
There was a good depiction of hell, and Satan, in one of the Tony Hawk's Underground games, I forget which one.specifically, I just know there's a skate park where you can visit hell and meet Satan dressed as a businessman with horns and red skin and will dance if you get near him.
Fucking "Laura Laura" quest from the guardian tales mobile game!!! The order of the quest itself was a puzzle, then the puzzles themselves are 300 IQ!!! I know someone who broke 3 phones over it
Dante's Inferno. The memory of slaughtering hundreds of unbaptized spider-babies pouring from Cleopatra's nipples in a phallic boss arena is forever burned into my brain.
Hey Julz! You should look into izotope rx 8 audio restorer software, room dereverb, and clarity enhancing etc are just a few features that might help save videos when audio fucks out. All the best dude.
I want Jules' top 10 favorite games adapted from movies. Like, Jules specific favorite. Like some of mine, are: Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick The Thing The Warriors Nightmare on Elm St (NES) The Blair Witch games, I use to play on PC (they were a Nocturne spinoff) Small Soldiers Land of the Dead
Since we put you through Hell (literally) on this one, maybe your next video could turn the tables: Games you enjoy watching others play more than playing for yourself. "Hand Simulator" anyone?
On Painkiller: Daniel is not sent on a mission to kill angels, rather the adversaries are demons and/or lost souls stuck in Purgatory. The only angel one meets is Samael, a totally overbearing mofo, and a demonic friend of Daniel's is called Asmodeus. Oh,and Eve features in some of the cutscenes. All levels are hellish enough, but actually going toHell (the last level) is a blast.
If I may, I would like to suggest a top 10 character's comeback, like when the game made seem like your characters died, just to comeback again more badass
So...yeah, the audio was definitely a bit jarring, but...yeah, still watchin. :D And yeah, I picked up Agony recently and...wow, yeah, there's no way in hell (heh) I'd ever want to go to that place. Yeesh. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULES!
who the hell doesn't like the music segments? Tell that person to kick rocks. The music segments are awesome and I hope you continue to do em every episode
Actually, the first games I thought of when seeing the title were Doom and Painkiller. And of course you'd talk about Doom, but kudos for including Painkiller! ^^
There are tons of games with hellish levels. I just played through doom finally. It's not often I can say I completely love a game, especially an fps but goodness, amazing that game is.

Family Jewels here is all flustered by the audio recording not working properly. And really it's all good. Sure, the computers software is being stubborn as a mule, there is some echo and mild distortion but your message came through loud and clear. Now the white balance on the other hand, oof. LOL, like my old man would say, "If it's not one thing, It's another." By the way Happy Birthday Jules! Keep up the good fight!
10 Antagonists who weren’t bad people/villains? An example that comes to mind would be King Gaius from Tales of Xillia. He’s the primary character you fight against, but he’s not a bad person. He’s got noble ambitions and commands respect when he enters a room, is a good and just king to his people, and believes in protecting the weak. It only makes sense that in the sequel, he ends up joining the party to stop a greater threat

Fun fact. I loved Dante's Inferno (the epic poem) so much that I ended up getting the last line of Canto 34 tattooed on the side of my neck in italian. It's basically there to remind myself that the worse is behind me
How Diablo 2 didnt make this list is beyond me, despite its only one act, the importance of it is evident. The lore within the story takes you through hell so much more than the game does and i love it
Jules... you could be recording your voice through a cassette recorder and I'd still watch your videos. Your voice is just that captivating lol.

Dante's Inferno was severely underrated. The cutscenes, to this day, still look absolutely amazing. Kinda sad they scrapped the other two games.
