To be totally honest, I was a bit nervous about how you were going to explain what went wrong with the iron farm...... and I shouldn't have been!!!! 😂 Nicely done, Sir!! 👍 There are far too many content creators who would have simply hidden that mistake and pretended everything went as planned. Hey I love the fact that you are doing great things want to tell you I'm an old guy that has been playing for a short time but here is some wisdom. You don't need a workstation for all of the villagers only 75% of them have to work. If you don't have more beds than they won't make more babies so with your situation I'm going to venture to guess that you went outside of the simulation distance which deactivated the village spawning mechanism I don't know why you went far away to sleep but unless you're iron farm is like at your world spawn where the chunk is constantly loaded during all gaming then whenever you go outside of that simulation distance or render distance then it stops producing All of that being true, you could be right that you had a villager that was not linked to a bed because maybe you took one and went far away to go sleep in it in that case no golems will spawn but if they all have beds and you're within the simulation distance and 75% of them have worked then you will get golems and that is the basic need to know information. Please add salt liberally and keep on crafting my friend
100% Agree! Fantastic explanation-super clear and straight to the point. I always wondered why my farm kept getting messed up, even when I wasn’t doing anything in that area. Turns out, it was the extension all along! I love how you explained it and showed everything step by step. Really appreciate it! ✌🏼 ❤🖖🏼
this. I used to watch jcplayz and he isn't bad at all its just he will forget stuff or leave things out and I spend more time having to examine the farm he's building step by step just to try to find the thing he changed and didn't tell
Goodness, what a great bedrock content creator you are! Over the years I have taken so many long breaks from Minecraft. But every time I come back, I can count on you and your community to help me with whatever project I am trying to build!
Small correction: Profession blocks get added to the village when they are *detected* by a villager, not when they're claimed. A villager can detect a profession block when they're within 16 blocks horizontally and 4 blocks vertically of it. The block will then become part of the village and the village boundary will be stretched to include it (if necessary), even if no villager currently needs one of that type. This way, the village can find spare profession blocks to replace any that might be broken, as well as extra beds which cause them to make new babies. I'm not sure 96 blocks is always far enough distance to keep villages from combining. I think it depends on your simulation distance, but I haven't gotten consistent enough results from testing to prove that. But in any case, the maximum simulation distance of 12 chunks means that (12 x 16) = 192 blocks apart should always be safe. For simdist 8 it would be (8 x 16) = 128 blocks, simdist 6 = 96, and simdist 4 = 64 blocks. (Add 15 blocks as a safety margin if you're not building aligned on a chunk boundary.)
Prowl. Still my go to Bedrock iron farm guru! I have recently started a new outpost/Base on my realm. This creation is of course after the 121 update. With the new trial chamber, discount villagers are available virtually day one of your world. If you look in the droppers/dispensers in the trial chambers you’ll find potions of weaknesses in some, and golden apples are available in the Chamber as well. That’s every thing you need to cure zombie villagers immediately. No need to go to the Nether, no potion brewing. Just loot a chamber and go for it. Now can you get enough to populate your village? I don’t see why not. It will likely take more than one Trial Chamber to fill your farm but when you’re done you’ll have a top notch iron farm/trading hall. And with luck you may even get your mace. All that early days in your world!
A little trick for you. If you have 3 potions of weakness you can fill a cauldron. That filled cauldron will give you one stack of weakness arrows. All you have to do is dip them in the cauldron. You now go from only 3-6 cured villagers up to 64 cured villagers. You have to use a non enchanted bow though
@@troydunkelberger4682 hadn’t thought of that. But yes good trick. Of course a cauldron isn’t a starter item, (unless you raid a village). 32 iron ingots is expensive day one.

Really love the clear explanation as always. I have been thinking over my plans for winter once I have time and this will be on the list. Thanks Prowl!

Thank you so much Prowl, I have two small iton farms in my world bit wanted a larger one with Villager trading hall. I'm so keen to follow your design.
I am just starting to watch this video, but wanted to let you know that I have built previous "unbreakable " iron farm you built I believe it was the 1.20 and possibly even the 1.19 update and it is still working wonderfully. Averaging about a stack or so per hour. It's the one using the nitwit closest to beds. I have learned a lot from your tutorials and just wanted to let you know that the previous farm is still working for me.
I love how you go over the actual mechanics of the game, rather that just a block by block tutorial. Also, i would have loved to have had this video available when i build my design of an all in one villager breeder/iron farm/trading hall. Another thing i wish i would have known before i build mine, was how time consuming it can become, hahaha... Anyway, it will get you to where you want, where you can arm up to fully enchanted diamond armor/weapon/tool setup, without leaving the building... plus to much more that will make it a lot easier to advance in the game.
Hi Prowl I am new to Minecraft and I came across your channel. It's amazing thank you for your time and effort. Also, 1 small request can you make a small video of simple iron farm please. That will be very helpful
Works perfectly! Just finished today but I messed up and one block by the campfire is not under water. I just go ahead and get my iron manually. Btw, I'm on bedrock survival with no mods or add-ons. Thank you for your time Prowl!
This is why I love prowls content over anyone else’s because he goes in depth on how these things work. A few days ago I made a villager breeder, and built a trading hall wrapping around it, I was going to top it off with an iron farm on top and tried incorporating blue jays platform on top of the whole thing. The golems were spawning on the ground outside of the trading hall as opposed to the platform, and it turns out they were linking to my actual bed in my base
You can do this with a much smaller farm both above ground, over water, and below ground. Building one in the nether might be worth it on a realm. I use a 7x7 box 6 blocks high with a 2 high 8x8 wall around the top. The cat thing is absolutely true, the village tips about distance from the center are super important.
You are so much more savvy with mechanics.... Question/idea... Could there be a way to build a sugar cane/bamboo farm into the walls of the iron farm to use the same water flow to collect automatically?!
Thanks Prowl8413 for being as informative as you are about Minecraft in general you've been a big help to me and others. I do have a question though using your color grid as an example if adding a professional block outside of the red zone stretches it in one direction couldn't you then in theory put one the exact opposite direction and distance and recenter it ? I just had that thought and I was just curious if you happen to know thanks for being a great teacher and TH-camr
Outside of your 17x17 platform, I'd go a full 7 long instead of only 2. That way it's easier to place your water sources, since they won't all just go straight down, but will instead spread out, creating infinite water sources to pull from.
Thanks for all you do! I build a lot of your stuff and appreciate the designs greatly. I wanted you to know though that i broke your unbreakable iron farm though lol. I fixed it, but i thought someone should tell you that every time someone builds something unbreakable, the world builds a better idiot who can break it.
Interesting. Does that mean we could manipulate the approximate location of the village for.. i guess building purposes? Hiding the villager cells and beds can be difficult unless you build it underground
21:56 I hope he answers this because if I'm reading the wiki correctly, then it permanently moves the village center, so it's almost like you would want to build a POI block just outside the bounds to force the village center to always be the geometric center, instead of being based on the leader's POI. "If the village borders expand, the center shifts to the geometric center to accommodate this growth, affecting where iron golems and cats spawn. While the origin point may still influence the bounding box to some extent, it will no longer necessarily correlate with the village center."
@@Prowl8413 Thanks for the quick response.... It was definitely an interesting conversation.... My main reason is similar to what he mentioned about hiding beds, though, in my case I'm more wanting to keep the beds closer to my crop farm/trading hall without moving my spawning platform, so I can avoid some of the issues I'm hitting with villager search box only being 4 blocks high and some self-inflicted pathing issues that make it hard for my villagers to get within 4 blocks vertically of my beds.
It's a bug in the game currently. It shows half a heart less than you actually have which leads to a bizzare thing like being alive when bar shows zero hearts lol
I have a very productive mini iron farm underground and in my core base (I call it the bank). I had an above ground auto carrot farm above ground with one farmer in it. It didn't hurt my iron farm at all. But the non-stop note sound from the carrot was getting on my nerves. So I built a much larger version further away and put the carrot farmer there. Only now my iron farm has stopped working. I tried to breed my iron farm's villagers but it doesn't seem to have worked. I've either gotta figure out what's wrong or rebuild the iron farm near the new carrot farm. Which means moving the villagers to it. And I'm not looking forward to that.
I personally prefer using magma blocks for the killing floor... so much easier and less chance of catastrophic failure. Depending on the size of your farm, it doesn't really hurt your rates that much.
So I got a question if a iron farm stops working it means you did something wrong but if you did something wrong why would it work to begin with this just makes more questions for me and I'm trying to understand I've watched this video literally 20 times when I built my farm and then multiple times after and what's happening in my world in my farm isn't answered by the video. Like I got my farm working by building 60 beds for 10 villagers, why does that make it work? I'm honestly curious, this is the third time I've commented cause I'm genuinely curious
I just started Minecraft for the first time a little over a month ago and I'm still learning a lot of the mechanics and stuff. Full disclosure... I'm the kind that jumps WAY ahead of what I'm ready for and experiment. So stuff goes wrong a lot 😅 (I already had to delete my village... I'm resource building right now). But I ended up with two golems when I only had twleve villagers 😮 I'm playing on peaceful mode... Does that make a difference?
Question ... how is the farm affected by overhead construction? How high should you place a ceiling or landscape above. If you were to install a simple mob farm above will that make changes to the golem spawning?
32:55 Your villagers didnt trap themselves inside the composters? I made a iron farm several weeks ago and let them breed like you did. over time they all wound up in a composter and they wouldnt jump out even at night. It seemed like they were trapped in them. I eventually put carpet on top because they werent linked to the station they were trapped in LOL
Couple of questions that I’m struggling to find answers to what allows a villager to connect and not connect to a bed and or work station , distance? Walls? Y level? Also with the center of village, if it’s not a weighted system could you technically just go an equal amount of blocks out of each side of the bounding box to guarantee the center where you want it? I’ve been building a multiple level cave base centered around a double mob spawner and have the floor below me cleared out for a trading hall and am curious if I could somehow put an iron farm in the center of it while I afk. And lastly on mob spawning I play on 6 chunk sim and want to make a creeper farm on the outside chunks is this feasible or do the mob spawners ruin it
So I am having an issue where the cats are dying inside the campfire and the string is visibly going into the hopper and subsequently from the hopper to the chest, however when i check any of the chests there is no string to be found. Any thoughts on what the issue might be? I tripple checked its set up the same as yours
I wish they would limit the workstation detection radius. Theres no reason they should be able to detect them for more than like 30 blocks max. Also, for the lava blade, lava only travels 4 blocks so you can also just put 3 signs in each direction of the center point and fill in the corners(with signs) in a diamond shape
Have 2 worlds and after the update, both iron farms are broken. I get tons of cats but no more golems. All villagers check out on their work stations and beds.
I have a question if I set up and build the iron farm have all 80 beds claimed by villagers the nitwit next to the beds and all other villagers connected to profession blocks and traded to lock them in, am I then able to cover up the iron farm and use profession blocks as decoration?
As mentioned in another Prowl video, you can test you sign placement with water, then pick up the water before placing the lava. Much less burning if stuff isn't placed right.
So what would happen if you put a linked profession block on both or all side of the original village? would the center still be the original location only bigger??
I'm definitely needing some help with this, I built this iron farm with 20 beds had iron golems spawning perfect and then after several days working I mistakenly added 2 additional beds so I could get more villagers and the moment I did that the farm broke so I destroyed all beds and replaced only 20 and with 20 villagers and it didn't work, so I destroyed workstations and replaced them I destroyed both beds and workstations again still nothing so then I destroyed all the villagers and started from scratch and now my problem is they will not stay linked to beds and I've rebuilt everything like I had it when things worked what is the problem I'm having? Why won't villagers stay linked to beds when nothing is different from original build that worked?
So I literally went from playing Minecraft to obsessing over this iron farm for 2 weeks. I have torn it down and rebuilt it so many times it's became a iron farm simulator that breaks every 2 days and has to be rebuilt. It never fails I can get it running just by taken all the villagers out and breeding new ones and replacing the beds and then work blocks, the farm starts working for 2 days and then bam it stalls out, I trade with the villagers daily to see if that keeps them spawning but it doesn't, I don't have any extra work blocks unless a crafting table is a work block but in my creative world of the exact world everything works and never stops I've went afk to see if it will stop and it doesn't and it's the exact same build as in my survival world. Now maybe this might be the problem I have a pillager outpost around 130 blocks away will this cause my farm to break after working for multiple days??? I'm curious if it works in my creative world cause the mobs and pillagers aren't hostile and won't work in my survival cause they can turn hostile? Is this a thing, the video doesn't cover this and I'm going crazy trying to figure it out. Please help with some information cause I have given you all the info on my build, there's 60 beds 10 villagers and 10 work stations, all villagers are in front of their work station trapped and all locked in on beds and work stations, I have 2 crafting tables around the build and no bed at all for me cause running back 150 blocks to my bed isn't a issue when I want to sleep. So besides all of that I have a pillager outpost 130 blocks away.
I recommend joining the discord to provide some screenshots. The things that will stop an iron farm are work requirements, more villagers than beds, no villager within detecting range of a bed, or the platform not being within the iron golem spawning zone.
@@Prowl8413 I'm in the discord just dropped everything on the farm, I went into quick detail of each picture. You'll see how invested I got into this build.
How far can I have beds from the village without stretching the limits. Example, I live like a hobbit. I put everything underground with me. I have my living quarters and utility room (stone cutters, brewing stands, etc) about 30 blocks below my lowest bed in my iron farm and roughly 20 blocks away. I don’t believe have had any issues but I feel like my iron farm has slowed down a bit. Edit: I also have found any iron gollum’s in any odd places that they shouldn’t be and I’m surrounded by a lot of water so half the caves around don’t really have a spawning place for them.
this farm is pretty cool but I Sawa tutorial where you get 12 gazillion iron blocks a second and netherite. the herobrine spawner was epic!!! bro really cooked that monster 😂
Followed everything exactly as you did it and it's not working. I even had to reposition the beds because the top layer villagers would suffocate and the other beds weren't being claimed. Now that I have repositioned the beds in a way where they will claim them, it's still not working
This isn't meant as a step by step tutorial. You can follow this from my double iron farm, and only build the bottom layer. th-cam.com/video/0P7s3i3dBrU/w-d-xo.html
my iron farm broke and maybe the reason is the same as you say in the video. maybe my farm breaks when i build a farm with villager, bees, and allay from your tutorial video close to my iron farm so its stretched the village or something like that
Iron golems not spawning if there aren't enough beds is an intended game mechanic unfortunately. They don't all need profession blocks (iirc the criteria is that at least 60% have worked in the last day), but enough beds are required. I'll sometimes leave a bed accessible within the beds configuration just so I can "borrow" it to sleep if I need to. This hasn't messed up spawning that I can tell, or if it does it fixes itself once the villager reassociates with the bed.
Fantastic video! Super interesting. I had been struggling with my iron farm too and found out some of these mechanics as well but I wasn't able to find out WHY and you did that so beautifully in this video. The fact that you showed how to expand a possible village makes it so you can customize these farms (to a degree) to your own liking. This video was truly educational and well brought, and is now THE source for any Bedrock iron farm! Thank you for putting this together! Q: Does simulation distance have an effect on the size of your village bounding box (the green glass)?
I got my iron farm finally working after working on it for over a week and what finally made it work again was start over and when I built the beds I built 60 beds cause if I built only 20 it would spawn but stop after a couple days but when I build 60 beds it never stops. Now why does it do this Idk but it's the only thing that fixed it and spawn golems without breaking.
I’ve done 20 beds just the top layer, and whenever I put a nitwit villager in the bottom they keep de-spawning, I’ve tried naming them aswell any idea how to stop this?
I have a trading hall at bedrock level and an iron farm dug out and setup right above the hall but no golems are spawning in their designated kill chamber... But they'll spawn with the villagers themselves when their area isn't spawn-proofed... Idk what to do. I even have one villager in sight of the kill area itself and nothing HELP
I had an issue similar to this when I built my iron farm/trading hall. Turned out that the base level of the iron farm was too high from the villagers. I needed to lower the floor of the iron golem spawn point. If I remember correctly, it needs to be only 7 or fewer spots above the main part of your "village". I hope this helps. Let me know.🙂 Edit: I play on a Playstation 4.

Great video. May I ask about the half heart of damage not healing?
That's been happening to me since the last couple updates whenever not in peaceful it's weird
Can you make a showcase video with all the addons you use?
I personally prefer using magma blocks for the killing floor... so much easier and less chance of catastrophic failure. Depending on the size of your farm, it doesn't really hurt your rates that much.
Brilliant
"OMW with Rockets" - Pesky bird
Looks like I will be taking all of the profession blocks, beds, and bells in my farm and waiting 😂😂
I’ll put this to use today :)
Hence, why I build my iron farm over water usually on an island and I just portal over if needed.
Do you have to use solid blocks for the spawn platform, or can you use slabs as the "top" half of the blocks?
Golems can spawn up to 5 or 6 blocks upwards from the center of the village (bed pillow). Make sure you build higher than that and you should be fine.
My 5 year old iron farm is still kicking... Nothing to be done ✅
And lastly on mob spawning I play on 6 chunk sim and want to make a creeper farm on the outside chunks is this feasible or do the mob spawners ruin it
Do the rules for iron farm /villager trading hall apply to skyblock as they do in regular survival. If you have a video on it can you direct me to it
17:51 I did this once. I decided to build a Mason section next to my trader hall. It messed up much the iron farm.
Let's goooooooo!!!!!!!!
Since when did signs become water logged? My normal method of testing for holes is kaput!
Hey Prowl, do you know, if that gorgous texture pack is in any way available on xbox?
What is the resource pack that makes the cool walking actions?
RealismCraft
Have 2 worlds and after the update, both iron farms are broken. I get tons of cats but no more golems. All villagers check out on their work stations and beds.
quick question, what is the free cam mod your using?
How did you added better animation pack in bedrock ?
What’s the mod you use to make the villagers have a better animation?
I have a question if I set up and build the iron farm have all 80 beds claimed by villagers the nitwit next to the beds and all other villagers connected to profession blocks and traded to lock them in, am I then able to cover up the iron farm and use profession blocks as decoration?
Placing the signs is the part I fear doing the most 😅
It's not too bad :p
As mentioned in another Prowl video, you can test you sign placement with water, then pick up the water before placing the lava. Much less burning if stuff isn't placed right.
I just get confused with how many signs I've placed on each side. They're so thin and blend in at times
3:55 “not even if you have real life neighbors.”
So what would happen if you put a linked profession block on both or all side of the original village? would the center still be the original location only bigger??
Quick question, how do you get the beds to stack like that? Looks like there is only a half block distance between them
TIA
Nope it's a full block. You just put another set of blocks below and place the beds like normal.
how do you have that run animation on your character?
What is the freecam mod????!!! I have been looking for this
Looked spectator mode look in chat
I thought you’ve been saying Spark Toast, all this time. Sparked Host.
Spark toast sounded delicious
Is there a way to make this vanilla? Specifically fire tick on.
Bro, can you make a new gold farm with lava system?
What mod are you using for your animation? That doesn't look vanilla.
Is that spectator mode u use a mod and if so. Where do I get it?
Loving the videos informative as always it’s why we all love these vids! let’s gooooo!! Hit the like button people’s it’s not hard 😂❤
Thank you!
My server im playing dont allow to breed villager,so it is ok if i use 20 cured villager (from zombie villager) instead?
When will the next episode be?
Question: How much iron does the iron farm produce in an hour?
Followed everything exactly as you did it and it's not working. I even had to reposition the beds because the top layer villagers would suffocate and the other beds weren't being claimed. Now that I have repositioned the beds in a way where they will claim them, it's still not working
can you please put a list of how many blocks you used so it can be easier to replicate the farm
This isn't meant as a step by step tutorial. You can follow this from my double iron farm, and only build the bottom layer.
th-cam.com/video/0P7s3i3dBrU/w-d-xo.html
my iron farm broke and maybe the reason is the same as you say in the video. maybe my farm breaks when i build a farm with villager, bees, and allay from your tutorial video close to my iron farm so its stretched the village or something like that
It definitely sounds like it. No villagers within 96 blocks. It's a painful process to fix unfortunately
@@ExposeIlluminati201 yep i miscalculated the distance between them, tried build this new farm using the same villager from the old farm
@@kotobuki-5464 Good luck with it pal. Just break all beds and go again. Gotta love bedrock edition 👍
What’s the name of the animation add on u got going there
Fantastic video!
Can bed directions infact iron Golem spown ?
What if there is already profession blocks throughout the village before building this? Is that ok ?
nop. You must remove EVERYTHING. All prof blocks, beds, and bells
@@Prowl8413 thx man
I thought you needed at least 2 blocks above beds for villagers.
Villagers don't despawn
@@vec206 it just disappears then
If I spend too long away from the farm when I go back the villager under the farm isn’t there, I’ve tried keeping them in a boat aswell
Villagers dont claim beds unless on same height...
Why make 80 villagers when output is nearly the same as with 20?
What mod for the player walking movement
Actions and Stuff. It will be available in the marketplace soon.
Let me know.🙂
Edit: I play on a Playstation 4.
@@morgynegarber8003 I'm pretty sure my issue is my beds are too far below where I want the golems to spawn but I'm about to try that rn
What running and sneaking mod is that 😂
Iron farms are the worst! So many fiddlely bits that can go wrong without you seeing or knowing!! 😩
