Great review Rob. Just bought the Milwaukee M18190 Mitre saw and looking for a stand. Went straight to your videos and wasn't disappointed. Great to see you go into so much depth. Will definitely purchase one.
Thanks for such an in depth review. I appreciate your insight as a contractor. I am just a DIYer but I always look to invest in the best quality tools I can afford so I have them for years to come. I'll have to continue my research to see if Milwaukee has come out with an updated version in the 4 years since you posted this video.
I just bought this stand. Overall I am pretty impressed. It is much more practical than the wheeled stand I ended up giving to a friend to use in his shop. Very compact and easy to set up. At first I had my saw attatched to the clamp on brackets backward so the cutting bed of my saw didn't line up with the supports. Seemed more intuitive to me to have it that way. Now I'm getting used to clamping on "backward" I wish there was more room on these brackets so you could attach the saw either way No real complaints other than I don't like that the feet come out so easily. I will probaby glue them in. I also agree with you on the locking knobs. They come loose when you don't want them to I don't like that the supports wobble when not locked in place. I keep my supports unlocked while working because I need to adjust my support distance for different cuts. The fact that they wobble means that my supports don't stay level with my cutting bed.
Have to try the stand, the old one was a piece of heavy crap. Went back to the 12” compound sliding Dewalt saw from the Milwaukee because the Milwaukee was a pig to carry around on job site. I have it mounted on the Rigid gravity rise which works well but takes to much room in truck bed.
Bought this for my DeWalt 10 inch saw, as the DeWalt one wasn't available locally when I needed it. Agree with everything said - the instructions were brutal and the assembly of the outriggers could have been made much easier by indicating which bolts/washers went where. I also mounted the saw to the brackets by myself - I would highly recommend having a friend help with that, as it's painful to line the saw mounting holes up while lifting the saw. It would also be nice to have adjustable feet on more than one leg. I'm using it at home and it doesn't get moved much, but the plastic feet make it pretty easy to slide on my concrete floor. I'm not normally cutting anything longer than 8 foot stock, so the outrigger length and strength hasn't been an issue for me. I'm just building my shop at the moment, but I can see when I get it done that I will probably store the saw on my bench or shelves and fold the stand up when not using it - it's so easy to set up and tear down. Overall, love the stand.
AWSOME review my friend, just bought the stand and I’m looking forward to using it. Thanks a million bud😊👍🏾 by the way they sell the metal side stand in ebay for $30 to $35. Just bought one as well.
They don’t need to “cover that”... most guys that buy these stands are expected to be competent enough to figure it out! Minimal instructions in a product from Milwaukee? I see it as a compliment.
The draw backs to the Dewalt and millwalkee saw stands are the extension arms is that over time they wind up with play and tend to drop down . I've have a saw stand my y a company that makes the racks for a van or truck . Never had a problem with it in 17yrs , all the ones out there today are just copies of someone else's. Also I'm not a fan of the ones that are on wheels and fold up and roll. Also I can carry my old stand with 3 fingers it's light weight and I believe it's made from aircraft aluminium and also has extension arms that haven't dropped since I bought it $99 .
I have a Ryobi stand that I love, which is funny I feel like features you mentioned on this the Ryobi has had for years...like getting the saw on and off quickly...the Ryobi comes off one handed...the leg lock buttons are on the outside, easy to depress...I do wish mine had wheels, so I could break it down and move without un-mounting the saw...also, I think your reviews are among the best on TH-cam...how do you not have more subs!? Lol
Great job! I have the old stand but was not looking to replace it since I don't use it a whole lot. It's nice to see them make it lighter which is a huge plus. Wish there could have been wheels though.
My issues are the brackets. I have a Dewalt that keeps breaking the saw brackets. They last 4 or 5 months then snap. I store my saw in my truck on the floor and as soon as you slide it across the floor as I store it or have to move it over etc. . Boom the plastic starts flying. I was hoping the Milwaukee had stronger brackets.
Great review Rob. I have a dewalt stand that looks almost identical to this milwaukee stand. Right now I'm using a fastcap bestfence quickie setup. Out of all the stands I've used I like the bestfence the most. I like the continuous stock support and the stop.
Nice review, but was surprised you never addressed the lack of wheels. I leave my saw on my stand (Bosch gravity rise) 95% of the time and just wheel it to where I need it. No wheels equals no go for me. Love my gravity rise stand (with DeWalt saw on it).
One basic and unavoidable problem with metal sawhorse-style mitre saw stands would be on-site mobility. When you're on a job-site and you want to shift your equipment (including a mitre saw) from one end of the project to another (like when you're doing a large deck project, or maybe moving from one room to another) using a sawhorse-style stand means tearing down, detaching the saw, and carrying the pieces to the new workplace. This slows things down and increases the likelihood of work-released accidents, injuries and damage to valuable equipment. Quite a bit has happened since you released this Milwaukee Miter Saw Stand review video in 2017. It is now roughly three-and-a-half years later. Other miter saw stands have hit the market, so maybe it's about time to go back and revisit this market segment. On TH-cam, newer reviews from others shed some light on other, perhaps newer, products. On the DIY & Outdoors channel, two review videos were posted several months ago about the Hercules Professional Rolling Miter Saw Stand from Harbor Freight. This thing has wheels, so it is less likely to require removal of the saw for transport or on-site moving. th-cam.com/video/Lwho2Rf5G3c/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0HkNaJAukdk/w-d-xo.html On the meta spencer channel, he reviews four different miter saw stands, including Toughbuilt, DeWalt, Tomax and Keter. th-cam.com/video/ej46hQxbIbc/w-d-xo.html Another, big development is the new CutHub brand of metal job-site work-stations. They are not as mobile, and are very expensive, but offer many productivity advantages: th-cam.com/video/d6LVmaVC1wo/w-d-xo.html
I have lots of questions about the best fence system by fastcap before I buy it because it's expensive I am weighing the pros and cons between the DeWalt add-on and the whole fastcap stand Pro 2 ideally I would like to put it on the smaller DeWalt stand 4' one for portability I keep my chop saw and a gang box for security is there a way to get ahold of you for detailed questions? ... or make a video regarding the subject?
Make end insert of caps longer with screw to secure to leg. These stops look waayyy better than dewalts. The wooble in them is the weak point of theirs. It would be nice from them to have some optional aluminum wings that could be attached.
Those leveling knobs are crap on Milwaukee and dewalt outriggers. I have the dewalt stand and they will drop down out of the blue. I actually loved my cheaper ryobi stand at $99. Used it for 10 years with no fuss. I'm gonna have to hack my dewalt to suit me better. Love your reviews, it makes buying easier. Thanks!
I also have that $99 Ryobi stand and was lucky enough to get mine on sale for $60 and I have had it for over 2 years now and I have my Ridgid 7-1/4" Cordless 18 Volt Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw on it and I love it, it's such a great stand and an excellent value
Just picked up the Dewalt stand a few weeks ago. I already had a set of the mounts so the extra mounts that came with the stand was converted to a table top (by screwing a plywood top to it) similar to the Milwaukee. So I'm pretty happy with it compared to my original bulky Trac-Rac stand from 9 years ago.

Looks like a dewalt copy. I like the small black table on top
Yep - Milwaukee is playing catch-up in the carpentry category. For many years we we're not their core user focus, that has changed and they are now focusing on the carpenter
Thanks for another solid review Rob. One of the most common gripes I've heard about this saw stand in addition to the ones you mentioned is that the repetitive cutting stops are flimsy and inaccurate (up to 1/2in of play). Having accurate stops is pretty important to me on a stand as I feel this could be a really nice time saving feature. What is your experience with the stops?
# A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz Great review as always Rob. After watching your review on this stand I am glad that I bought my new Milwaukee 10" M18 Fuel Brushless Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw Kit online even though I have to wait a little while to get it because online they were running a deal where when you bought the Milwaukee 10" M18 Fuel Miter Saw Kit you got this stand for free and after hearing how nice it is I am really excited to get it along with my Milwaukee 10" Fuel Miter Saw, they should be a great combination! One question I have for you Rob is I looked all over Home Depot's website for the little accessory table that you can get for this miter saw stand and I could not find it anywhere, I put in 2 different numbers that they listed for the accessory table and also searched for it by name and could not find it, by chance can you tell me where I can purchase one because I really want one so I have a place to set my pencils, tape measures and squares when I am using my miter saw so I know right where they are! If by any chance you can tell me where I can buy one of the tables for this miter saw stand I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks for the reply Rob. Funny enough last night I did put the model number off the Home Depot website in the google search engine and found and bought one at ACME tools lol!

This saw stand is great. It is well built and easy to use. The extendable arms are good too, however, the outfeed brackets at the end of the extendable arms are garbage. They are flimsy and gimmicky. As long as you don’t care about accuracy and strength, they are OK.
milwaukee design engineer 1:"we could just copy dewalt and add a strap". milwaukee design engineer 2:"i like it, but that strap is stupid." number 1:"but otherwise it will just be dewalt copy..."
All Milwaukee do is wait for DeWalt to release a tool or accessory and copy it adding a few refinements! It’s like the chinese copying samsung’s and iPhones
Great video but as has been said here already it's just a copy of what dewalt do already especially the saw brackets, leg locking mechanism but then I'm a dewalt man though
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz true it's the same with all tool brands if that is the one you use or the battery platform you have you will stick with their products. What do you think is the main difference between the Milwaukee and the dewalt stand
They seem to copy dewalt to a point. Saying that there’s plenty of nice tools dewalt don’t make. I wouldn’t swop over from dewalt but possibly will buy tools like the m12 angle impact. Come on dewalt you need to move.
ALL of Milwaukee's manuals I've read are incredibly and horribly lacking detail. Probably on purpose. HAHA! 3 pages of warnings. 5 lines of specs. And an operating instruction section that says, "Here's the button that makes it go vrooooooooom!" And the next language of same begins........

I understand manufacturers send you products for you to promote them, further letting you keep the products you review. I also understand you would agree to not review these products negatively. But how can you suggest while being honest that this stand is worth the money..? I just bought the DeWalt dwx724 which Milwaukee clearly copied and after reviewing the Milwaukee in the local home Depot, it's trash compared to the DeWalt. Look I'm heavily invested in the m18 lineup to the tune of 24 batteries and 14 tools mostly fuel, but this milwaukee stand felt cheap and more like a toy. I've got the Bosch gta3800 modded with 4 rolling material supports and wanted something smaller for quick jobs. I looked hard at both and just couldn't get over how pathetic and cheap the Milwaukee feels. The feet on the DeWalt dwx724 have a screw in them so they don't fall out/off. The table accepts the older material supports so you can have 4. Your review sounds like an infomercial. Honestly you guys say "trust the pros" but this feels like "buy this product because we're paid to tell you about it".. where's the 6 month long term review? Where's the review of a used dirty possibly damaged tool? These aren't reviews they are adverts.
Mr. B Mr. B did you actually watch this review.? We took the time to call out what we felt needed improvement as well, as shortfalls- your WAY off base here. We’re still using this stand in the field. It’s designed to be a lightweight stand so of course it’s not going to compare the same as a heavier stand.
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz I actually did, twice. Thought I might have missed something. You mentioned the poor plastic knobs for adjusting the materials supports. Those aren't that bad on my new DeWalt, even when I added the old well-used material supports from an older model to the new stand. Still function fine. I'm not that far off Rob.. still enjoy the videos as they are very informative it's just more of a demo when it's new. It's too bad you guys couldn't do a year in review type video. Just a thought
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz I might have overstepped with this comment, but i'd be interested. I'm a finisher/carpenter in Calgary Alberta Canada
Seems like a good unit but the problem is they keep making these things weigh a ton. my dewalt is way too bulky and heavy and as i get older it makes it tough to cart these things around. they need to lighten them up alot more. and they need to stop with all this stuff made in china...time to bring tools back home.

Like your reviews, you always are very detailed and present practical everyday application. Always check your reviews before ploping down good money.

On the end caps. Go in 2 more inches and put a screw or rivet or bolt so they are replaceable if worn down. Thank me later ;)
How about installing a fixed nut inside the leg and using a threaded bolt with some locktight on it?
Dwayne Feuchtenberger good idea
Nice review, but was surprised you never addressed the lack of wheels. I leave my saw on my stand (Bosch gravity rise) 95% of the time and just wheel it to where I need it. No wheels equals no go for me. Love my gravity rise stand (with DeWalt saw on it).

can you install two table tops on this stand? side by side or on opposite sides
Improve the fitment of the leg end caps by making the plastic insert considerably deeper.
Couple screws opposed sides, on the sides ought to do the trick...

Which ryobi stand is this?
Just ordered the stand from amazon....thanks for the great review
How would you compare this to the dewalt miter stand?
toolman101476 it’s essentially a carbon copy of the dewalt, I would opt for the longer 3.6m extended dewalt over this
Similar - Dewalt is longer and has a lever to control the support arms. The Milwaukee legs and levers are better, and I like the table top feature
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz true the table top is a good feature. Love your channel. Super thorough and informative. Keep up the great work!
Dave Jackson that table top feature is an optional extra....

Yeah I wish DeWalt would come out with that little table for their line of stands
Well it seems to me I have a older dewalt stand, the Milwaukee stand is just catching up from a stand I have witch is over 10 yrs. old.

Rob did you go to SU ?
If they made the leg caps longer and go up further in the leg they would be hard to pop them off.
i hate my stand! feet kept getting loose ended up getting the arms welded solid
It looks like they painted a DeWalt stand red.
Gabe McKay it is just a dewalt 7023 painted red, you are so right
Not even close. The dewalt uses different... well everything
@@noclass2gun342 I got this stand free with the cordless 10" Milwaukee miter saw. It's trash, not even close to the quality of similar DeWalt stands.
My milwaukee stand hieght adjusters are already broken and are cracked
to be honest it looks overpriced, underfeatured and mediocre in general. Disappointed in Team Red.

Chevy513 ACME tool’s maybe, look at Milwaukee site for model number
Thanks for the reply Rob. Funny enough last night I did put the model number off the Home Depot website in the google search engine and found and bought one at ACME tools lol!
eBay. $35
I think they could make those end caps on the legs a bit longer then they wouldn't fall out
Glue
Glue the leg caps on.
Mark Farmer great idea!
Lol
Another I want to be dewalt. Great review from you again.
Well done review!!!

Mr. B we’ve done a few “look backs.”problem is that there’s not enough time for us to do all that - wish we had more Pro guys on the review team.
A Concord Carpenter / ToolBoxBuzz I might have overstepped with this comment, but i'd be interested. I'm a finisher/carpenter in Calgary Alberta Canada
Worst thing Milwaukee ever put their name on. Do not buy this!
This stand is a joke. No wheels
You wear shorts, mmmm your credibility just went down a notch.
Seems like a good unit but the problem is they keep making these things weigh a ton. my dewalt is way too bulky and heavy and as i get older it makes it tough to cart these things around. they need to lighten them up alot more. and they need to stop with all this stuff made in china...time to bring tools back home.
