    Hi Hasard!
    Question: how different is the training for the three variants of the F-35? Do pilots just do the same training no matter where they go? Or are they separated so navy folks train carrier landings, marines do VTOL, etc? Maybe a common part and then specializations?
    Thanks for your videos! Really interesting :)

    • @Dev-In-Denver123
      @Dev-In-Denver123 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Every training squadron has its own training regimen because they're all led by different people. This especially includes training for different types of aircraft. I'm no instructor but my father, Lt Col. Dave Leazer has been an f-16 instructor since the early 90's, just retired a few years ago.

    • @KomradeDoge
      @KomradeDoge ปีที่แล้ว

      Iirc, in US service the A is Air Force, the B is Marines, and the C is Navy. Naval Aviator training (that the Marines also go to) is different from the Air Force Pilot training, so that would be one key difference. Then on top of that, in each school Navy or AF you'd learn the basics of flight, then get selected for your airframe and move on to how that works. In normal circumstances airframe classes are separate, so a Super Hornet class wouldn't learn with an E-2 class, theyd teach each other stuff thats unnecessary, so becides the overall avionics being very similar, i doubt the Marines and Navy F-35 pilots learn with each other, and for sure the Air Force guys are on a whoke seperate base.

The stuff in dcs are only used from public infos. real life might be way better. for example a MAR for a aim120c in dcs up at 30k feet is around 30 miles. But real life might be 50 or 80. But only the real pilots know that. So when you get into a fight all of a sudden you start defending at 50 miles where the missile only has that kind of performance in real life then you can get into a lot of trouble. Beucase many countries will be watching and thats why its classified.

    • @PhycoKrusk
      @PhycoKrusk ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think that has definitely become even more popular after Growling Sidewinder started experimenting with it after it was shown in the movie, and especially after he showed that yes, in fact, it does work as long as you manage the asymmetry.
      Just remember kids: If you are going to try this in DCS (or any sim, really), don't actually move the throttles asymmetrically. Just pull the burner from the side you want to turn towards and be ready to flick it back on so you don't flat spin. And don't forget that the further apart your engines are, the more effective the maneuver will be.

It includes target practice with the gun in between the air show elements as shown in this clip. There are quite some spectacular maneuvers to be seen, as the Swiss really know how to get the most out of the original Hornet in a confined space between two mountains and I'd love to hear your comments about it. 😊

    I am then not impressed by the so-called "Crazy Jet Video". Between the years 1950 and about 1975, Sweden had the most fighter planes and pilots. They flew the Lansen, the SAAB J-35 Draken and then the SAAB SK37 Viggen. These Pilots would constantly practice flying above the speed of sound, just above the treetops and not many meters above the water out at sea. Many pilots had to put their lives on the line, as the slightest wrong movement and the plane crashed and pilots died. They flew like it was real combat. • @griffn14
      @griffn14 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do something similar. Here's a quote about an F-5 doing it (they're not using split throttles though) :
      "I can close my eyes and picture chasing Kemo Percival through a very offensive Rolling Scissors only to have him execute the most perfect Pirouette and pass me 180 out, neutralized, with my jaw hanging open. If this had happened just once, I would have chalked it up to an accident of aerodynamics. But time and again I watched as a rare offensive position was eliminated by this impossible escape. When flying by myself, I would practice over and over; 45-60 degrees nose high, 220-180 knots, full aileron deflection, full opposite rudder, stick first full aft then quickly to full forward. When Kemo did it, his plane rotated horizontally, swapping ends in a blink while still maintaining enough energy to continue flying and fighting. When I tried it, following his recipe to the letter, I ended up either mushing through a reversal of direction but completely without airspeed, or rolling sideways and pulling through a slow speed wingover. No help at all."

      @HomelessCows ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't go through the basic training the enlisted go through if you want to be a pilot. You'll need to go through one of three methods of commissioning, which are through a service academy, in your case it would be the United States Air Force Academy, an ROTC battalion at a university or college, or Officer Candidate School if you go through Air National Guard.
      I can't speak on the steps to becoming a pilot in the Air Force, I went with Navy ROTC. But you should seek out talking to ROTC battalions at universities you are interested in and looking into the Air Force Academy. But you should worry about the alligator closest to the boat. Focus on doing well in high school and getting athletically fit and prepared for military service. When your Junior year of high school rolls around is when you'll start applying to USAFA or other institutions of your choosing.

    I don't know how I ended up here but here I be. The film an other poster mentioned India, I think, well it did not look like something to critique in any meaningful way, did someone send you those? :-)

    I absolutely love the video, i however have a single thing to say about the first clip, when oyu said that it "ins't a us jet" it is in fact an F-18 legacy hornet of the us navy.

    0:47 low altitude that's funny, especially when you see Ukrainian pilots that flying at altitudes about 15 meters at a daily routine.
