  • Zizek takes a leaf from Jacques Lacan's book about the issue of multiculturalism and the unfortunate difficulties which may emerge in its practise in society.

    immediately after the first time I went down on a past girlfriend she cheerfully said "you dirty boy" and I thought I should make her feel good that I did not find her or that part of her "dirty" so I said "oh, I found it quite lovely". I've always wondered if I should have said "yeah, I'm a dirty boy."

    • @pantofliaras
      @pantofliaras 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The implication of "dirty boy" was aiming directly at you, not her parts you moron.
      The notion of carnal pleasure being a shameful act, as in an attempt to "shame" you in order for her to get rid of her guilt. Catholicism ethic style.

    Pretty cool point about "the real" of other cultures. One cannot be kind to another person and reductionist about their culture too - that is brutal.

    • @Soytu19
      @Soytu19 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its brutal but necessary and part of progress. Would you say that in the west protestantism was brutal? For some probably. But necessary.

    This is just as simple as to realise that the meaning of all human life, in its elementary form especially, comes down to just following the Law, - written in capital letters, those unwritten ones especially - and getting pleasures, both ridden by the "objet petit a". This is humanity at its most elementary. There should be a balance between both in order to be a real sane person and society. This is all we do until we die, nothing more. You can change the colours of the painting but the framework will always be the same.

      But is this structure completely elementary for subjective life, so that it is independent from time and place? Or are there other forms of subjective transformations possible, which do not come down to Zizeks definition? But then maybe the transformed subject cannot be called human anymore and has no connection with us whatsoever?

      This is true about rape, but zizek's point is that the rapist's enjoyment is a surplus enjoyment derived from his guilt for the action. since he did not enjoy himself, he is not guilty

    Or the judge was either bought off or knew that sentencing the kid would mean some seriously negative consequences... the reasoning could just as well be a facade. I see no evidence or strong enough argument in this video for me to not consider this possibility

    • @MM-bx1ei
      @MM-bx1ei 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Doesn't matter even if that is the case. You don't see strong enough argument in this video because you don't understand the totality of the argument. Take a closer look at how Slavoj links judge's reasoning with Christianity to get the idea that it doesn't matter whether the judge was sincere or not. Because it is an already established reasoning built in religion.
