    Steve,
    Excellent review on the 2 door mini cooper S. I actually went from a 2015 4 door Cooper S to a 2016 2 door Cooper S. The car is the most fun car I have ever driven. I get excellent gas mileage 5.5-6 ltr/100km highway and 7-8 ltr/100 km in sport mode. I am so connected to the car and at the same time it is smooth and comfortable. I wanted a JCW, but it was too expensive for me. Thanks for the review, I watch almost of your car reviews and they are great !!

    Great review. I guess we are experiencing the next wave of sticker shock. From anything built now, and they equipment they are optioned with, it's really easy to get expensive . The Tahoe for example can push nearly 70k. The Mazda 3 that years ago was a 18k car is now nearly 30k. Let's hope wages catch up to the new sticker prices

    love the new mini i am 6'3 and one of VARY few little cars i can fit in and see out of. i sold my dodge ram hemi and buying a new mini s shortly, the price is only high with all option and there options don't forget. i feel the price is good for what you get any GM these days and you have recalls before your first tank runs out on last note your get what you pay for .

      Adamkingsho i'm around 5'10 and I was wondering, I'm going to buy a 2014/15 Mini Cooper S and like I said I'm 5'10 do you think I will fit in it? I've seen countless of mini coopers but they're too small. Basically do you think it's a good car for me who is pretty tall? :/

    Steve,
    Excellent detailed review. I test drove the cooper s and I loved it. I am waiting for the 4 door which should be available around Christmas in Canada.
    Can you please review the 4 door cooper s?

    As others have noted this new Mini is ridiculously expensive. This car is very nice, but priced similarly to entry-level luxury cars it doesn't seem to make much sense to pay 37K for a Mini.

    Great review! Yes, this is a BMW trapped in the MINI name. Everything is new, and all BMW. So, if you want a BMW with lots of character, MINI is an option.

    Im a huge fan of this car but i think ill look at a new GTI before i would ever spend remotely close to what mini is asking for this.

      Mini is a BMW loaded at that price. You can also get a Mini turbo for 21k.

    I bought the base Mini 3 cyl turbo with the sport suspension....amazing car!!!

      buildmorefarms100 I test drove the base 3 cyl , omfg, it was amazing. It felt like a peppy turbo 4 with personalty. Impressive !! Enjoy your Mini.

      buildmorefarms100 I bought a 4 door Mini Cooper S 5 Door, three weeks ago. A wonderful car : handling, style, personality, impressive gas mileage 4.7 ltr/100 km on the highway. No maintenance for 3 years. I wish I would have bought one years ago. Just a blast to drive.

      MIke White Excellent choice! That is a powerful car!!

    • @damnhockey
      @damnhockey 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      buildmorefarms100 Both petro engine options are both excellent. I drove the 3 cyl and it blew me away, damn , so smooth, lots of power, refined. I was hoping for the diesel engine, but it will not be coming to Canada. The 3 cyl handles and looks the same. The 4 cyl gets sports seats standard. This bloody car is so amazing to drive, I just want to get back into my car and keep on driving & grinning.

    My wife and I LOVE the look and feel of the mini but the price tag keeps us far away. We are going to buy a 2014 nissan xterra pro 4x with leather and all the options for $30k with the costco auto program.

    It is true that MINI finished dead last in JD Powers most recent dependability study.

    • @jmeryllman
      @jmeryllman 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      R56 and the F56 are two totally different car. I don't the that JD Powers report applies.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      jmeryllman They are different cars but that study doesn't evaluate specific models but the brand as a whole. So the fact that MINI finished last can't be ignored.

      I've owned an '08 Cooper S for the last couple of years. I drive around 18K miles a year, pretty enthusiastically, and haven't had a single problem. Not even a check engine light. I change my oil every 5-7K miles unlike MINI's unrealistic and risky 15K mile recommendation.

    Holy crap Steve!!!! $37K??!!! That is just plain dumb. You can certainly build a good optioned one for $28-30 and be fine. I do not see $37K in that CooperS. Sounds like more BMW than Mini with this one.

    Love the car. Steve, what's the driving position like? It seems like you sit more upright in this Mini. Is the seat set higher as well?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the driver's seat. It provides a sporty yet comfortable feel and a commanding view out the windshield. The seat is manually height adjustable.

    37k is ridiculous especially since Minis are known to depreciate rather considerably. You can easily can a slightly used Cooper S in the mid teens.

      MINIs hold their value better than any other car.

    • @itzmando
      @itzmando 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alexander Major You were joking right? Mini are actually the opposite in holding value to all other car companies.
      Mini's are neat Go Kart like cars but they cannot stack up in best bang for buck or holding value.
