    I was born in 1960 and 12 years of age when this aired in 1972. It seems like so very long ago now. I miss those days, so much so, watching all these old shows back home in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up back then, I would watch my mother iron almost daily. Even the bed linens got a good ironing.

    I watched this series when it was originally broadcast on NBC. I was 13 when it premiered. It stayed on the air until 12 days after my 14th birthday. The pilot, through episode 13, went under the title Ghost Story. The late Sebastian Cabot (1918-1977) was the character Winston Essex, the owner of Essex House. He was a peculiar individual, that acted as an erstwhile guide into the world of the unknown, who would provide commentary on the individuals that passed through his dwelling (hotel, rest-stop, refuge) and the effects of the supernatural upon them. With episode 14, the series was retooled to become Circle of Fear. I found the opening sequence for Ghost Story much more otherworldly and unsettling.

    When i got me first laptop at age 45 i was a complete technical computer numpty. I had it connected to my main tv. I put on the telly one morning still sleepy and started watching a strange but captivating image. The guy on tv was just sitting at the end of a large room staring straight ahead, i couldnt see his face, he looked familiar. It was kinda creepy after a minute as the guy didnt move. I got up to make a coffee and the guy got up too... you guessed it, it was me. I had somehow managed to switch on the cam on the laptop which was at a right angle to me in the corner of my huge living room. It was a bit unnerving and to a lesser extent funny. Ever since then i have taped over every cam on every laptop i have ever owned. I enjoy Stephen King so the idea of machines with malign intelligence watching me has always creeped me out anyways...silly me eh. Thumbs up these vids are great.

      Yeah, Robards was usually great in anything he was in, with his distinctive voice. Stevens was also pretty good too, whenever she was able to get a good part. I remember this series being re-run only once during the '90s---I wasn't familiar with it at the time, and only watched a couple of episodes. Pretty good, and creepy too.

    Ghost Story, Night Stalker, Sunday Suspense Theater (british)..watching these 70s horror series were some of the best times of my life...not to mention the hammer dracula series, the horror theater series, all in black and white...now we can reminisce and enjoy once again...

    I was born in 1960 and never remember watching this show. The one interesting point to mention was that these two, Jason Robards and Stella Stevens, were in a movie called The Ballad of Cable Hogue together - and it was fantastic. My father used to show this film, every semester, to his American Film class at Sierra College in Rocklin California. If you get a chance to watch it you really should... As for this show, well, I will check out a few more episodes before I really give an opinion.

      Yeah, I would think that they would've shown that she landed on something sharp & it went thru her head or the corner or a table even. Idk though, who knows what you could show on t.v. then!? I know things have changed over the years... always pick apart shows to much though & ya know think like, that couldn't have happened or try to make sense of them, especially when people make dumb choices etc...I think we all do that to some point & I've been trying to tell myself, "ok, it's a show & it wouldn't have or go where it's 'supposed' to if they didn't do these dumb things...& The same w/this,, ya know, they maybe couldn't show graphic things...But I am not even done watching the episode, I saw your comment b4 hand & after her death I was searching something on Google & I came back to agree w/you....lol But I'll see how it progresses, I thought perhaps he twisted her kneck, idk...I have seen men not know their own strength b4, but that's pretty strong....;)

      @bubble dream You'd be surprised how often people die from a simple fall which doesn't even break the skin. It happened to Natasha Richardson, it happens even to younger people. In the case of the woman in the film, her brutish husband forcefully threw her down, she handed on a chair during which she likely broke her neck then her head hit the floor HARD.

    • @shirleypena4133
      @shirleypena4133 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Robert Gardea No, it's called having a brutish husband throw you with all his might over a chair and you snap your neck, then your head hits the floor HARD. She wasn't drunk.

    Somehow I think vintage movies are better than some of today's crap. I like the dramatic acting along with the music and lighting. I like the fact that they made you use your own imagination as opposed to "seeing" the unknown / monster etc. which to me makes it creepier. No comparison IMHO. Angel from the Bay
