The legendary Gena Rowlands is still going strong in 2021, aged 90. Her co-star in this, actor Stuart Whitman, died on March 16th 2020, aged 92. These two leading actors clearly had excellent genes! Thanks so much for uploading this piece of classic 'seventies TV drama.

Very atmospheric and with strong gothic touches. The waves pounding against the rocks, the whistling of the constant sea wind, the fate that will have its way. The sea has a thousand stories to tell and this was a very good one. Well made.
This was great t.v! This was when programs were more subtle and didn't rely on tv characters who brandished guns and used bad language. These programs from the 70s had their own atmosphere. I was born in 71 so I never had the opportunity to watch this, but I'm glad I stumbled upon this series!
I love that “Mansfield House” is my favorite place to escape for a weekend: The Hotel del Coronado! The place has been there since 1888 and hasn’t changed much over the years in appearance. For anyone not living here in Southern California, you simply must stay a night or two at Hotel del Coronado if you ever come here for a visit. It’s a resort and in many ways a bit of a time capsule with some great history. There’s even a story about it being haunted, though all I ever experienced was the room phone ringing several times throughout the night, yet the front desk claimed no calls were ever sent through to the room! I’m absolutely loving this series. I ran across it by chance a day or so ago and have been hooked ever since! This may be my new favorite episode. Gena Rowlands was exquisite! 🌹
That place is magical in more ways than one. Just from the architecture you can tell the inside is just as beautiful if not more so than the outside. The ghosts. The hauntings. The beachside setting. It's just something else in the best way.
Beautiful Gena Rowlands - was there ever a more glamorous couple than her and John Cassavetes? They were pure class. Glad to report as of February 2021 she is still with us, remarried and approaching her 91st birthday. What a woman!
Real musicians in real time playing real instruments, with the occasional Moog or MiniMoog synth. In this film real wind on a tape file was used. Also, for TV they used color that matched the very organic ( even if not organic) phosphors used in the picture tubes. Sylvania color picture tubes ( often used in non Sylvania TV's) had the best color. I suggest if you can afford to, get an old late 60's- early 70's solid state color TV. They are able to cut the neck off the old color tubes and put brand new color-guns in. When you watch Bonanza and Bewitched you'll see it more vivid than you can imagine. Although our flat screens come way closer than the 1990's- 2000's glass picture tubes ( ie. 27" color TV's). They are miserable.

I love anthology shows, I never heard of this one. Thanks for the post. Funny that Richard Donner directed this because both he and Stuart Whitman looked enough alike to be twin brothers! Donner directed Superman the Movie, and Whitman went on to play Jonathan Kent on the Superboy TV series.
the opening scene is 17300 Pacific Coast Hwy Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, and the houses are still on the hill that fell during the Northridge earthquake.

Actually, it is on Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles and is still there, it is now called GLADSTONES. Google THE NAME OF THE PLACE next time, I did, and I was right! I lived next to it for years and ate there many times before they changed the name. I'm sure they look alike though, it is understandable. EDIT: OH! OF COURSE WHERE SEBASTIAN CABOT IS SPEAKING! Thank you so much! Great episode, great actors with a satisfying story . 70s tv was the greatest! Fashion was so cool and the cars were so great. Love that green convertible! Happier times! Also Gina and Stewart looked damn good and sexy ,the way it was before all the "experts" influenced the men and women in this country .
Thanks for uploading all these. 70s - 80s was the golden era of horror genre. The writers could write horror stories with suspense which could trigger the audience's fear instead of jump scare nowadays.
THE SEA SHORE INN at the very beginning, I have eaten there!! It is called GLADSTONES now, on Pacific Coast Highway... They have done a MASSIVE rebuild to make the place look stupid and cartoony now, but when I went, about 20 years ago...But it looked JUST LIKE THIS THEN, STILL!
Weird, the first thing I thought of wa\hen I saw the opening scenes, I have always been envious of the night gowns the women wore in these ghostly shows.

Love these olders shows! No need for the ugliness we see nowadays. And good to see Mr. French once again.
I loved this series back then. We only had antenna TV, but once in a while it would come in. It was so different. Thank you!
I really love your channel, and just want to say thank you for sharing these old shows. I used to watch these during the 70s when I was a kid, and they used to terrify me. It would be nice if they would make shows like this again without all the extreme computer generated images.
Great job transferring these to you tube… very clean great clarity I copied all to my channel too
Agreed.
i wish i was born in 70s. great stuff classic movie folk.
You can checkout any time you like.....but you can never leave....
The eagles baby
Man I miss shows like this😢
the opening scene is 17300 Pacific Coast Hwy Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, and the houses are still on the hill that fell during the Northridge earthquake.
Thank you for the Uploads. I love these nostalgic tv series. 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿💐💐💐💐💐
I don't have Tv. Nothing worth watching anyways, and i can’t bear the atrocious commercials.
I'm much happier watching older productions like this. Columbo, mash, older british tv shows, etc
Like your screen name!!
When theyre driving by the beach it reminds of all the times I went to Ventura by the pacific highway when I lived in Cali
those rocks by the beach are my favorite part.
I remember watching this on TV back in the 70s. Thanks very much for posting this.
Nice to meet you Winston ....a bit bizzare but I prefer these old ghost stories.. Love the car. Thank-You
As he pulled out the harpoon that killed the captain,he destroyed a never ending cycle of pain and put to rest his soul finally.History, sometimes , is made by people that take such deeds.
The innkeeper they met outside of the old hotel looks so much like Wilhem Dafoe.
At the beginning that was The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, Ca which is actually haunted.
The same hotel is seen in the classic comedy from 1959, "Some Like It Hot"
Actually, it is on Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles and is still there, it is now called GLADSTONES. Google THE NAME OF THE PLACE next time, I did, and I was right! I lived next to it for years and ate there many times before they changed the name. I'm sure they look alike though, it is understandable. EDIT: OH! OF COURSE WHERE SEBASTIAN CABOT IS SPEAKING! In the first scene of the actual episode is the place I know ;)
@@howiecricket52 It is in The Rockford files too! I used to live right up the coast nearby and ate there many times,. It is called Gladstones now... edit; i am referring to the restaurant in the opening after the host speaks ;)
@@WoodysARNot the restaurant, the HUGE red hotel while our host, Sebastian Cabot is doing the opening and closing monologues, sorry for the confusion
I sat up until one AM last night watching this episode on Decades network.
Watched these as a kid, still love them! One thing, it always looks to be about 6pm outside when it's supposed to be the middle of the night.. lol
This was an excellent movie,👍thank for posting.👍
The most amazing part of life is that the older we are. The more experienced we always have been
Gena Rowlands
Thank you so much! Great episode, great actors with a satisfying story . 70s tv was the greatest! Fashion was so cool and the cars were so great. Love that green convertible! Happier times! Also Gina and Stewart looked damn good and sexy ,the way it was before all the "experts" influenced the men and women in this country .
Thanks for uploading all these. 70s - 80s was the golden era of horror genre. The writers could write horror stories with suspense which could trigger the audience's fear instead of jump scare nowadays.
I've never heard of this show before. These are genuinely spooky and I like them
They're good. Take it from, an old guy.
3:03 Damn that 76 Station is STILL here today in 2018.
This was also called circle of fear I think..good show, Thhanks
Yes. Circle of Fear. Loved that show! Scared the Dickens out of me.
Thanks for oodting these. I was 9 when this came out lol
I absolutely loved Ghost Story/Circle Of Fear when I was a kid. I remember how this episode scared the crap out of me.
Classic ghost stories are the best!
i agree
Audio and visual is amazing
Wow, very cool...I watched this show when I was a kid...very scary to me then but now it’s purely nostalgia. Great to see Gena Rowlands always.
I remember watching this ep of the show when I was a kid.
***** I would,but they didn't make anymore.Its a shame ;-)
I do too, I was 9
I was never sure why Cabot had to be Winston Essex. I would have been a-okay with Sebastien Cabot introducing the episodes.
I did not realize how beautiful Gena Rowland’s was when she was younger
Oh yeah. Agreed. Beautiful lady. RIP.
One of my favorite episodes that I keep coming back to!
Thanks for sharing, I love ghost stories and mysteries, especially late at night, I look forward to your next spooky movie, good night...🕯🕯🕯😊
Accidentally stumbled upon this show but thanks YT for being the closest time machine anyone could view!
Wow, Gina Rowlands was quite the fox in her day!
I allways like classic movie. brings back a kool vibes
ALWAYS. Brings back a COOL VIBE.😒🤷
Awesome. When TV was still good. ❤
Walter Burke was a great actor!!
AGREED
this is was a great show , just scary enough with wonderful actors and stories
loved the one called House of Evil with young Jodie Foster
ME TOO MS. SHAFFER
I was 12 in 1972...Now my youngest daughter is 12. How time flies....
Beautiful location scenery in this episode
Weird, the first thing I thought of wa\hen I saw the opening scenes, I have always been envious of the night gowns the women wore in these ghostly shows.
