I was stuck at the start with the pins and your description is the only one on TH-cam that describes it perfectly thank you so much, legit was gonna cry I was so frustrated lol
The same steps can be applied when adding paddle shifters to base model ecoboosts (2021+ years), as they did not come with paddles. Find a donor wiring harness from eBay from a GT. Take the wiring harness, paddles and plastic backplate from the donor wheel and put it together in your steering wheel. Disclaimer: at some point, ford swapped the horn connector so you may need to do a bit of cable splicing to change the connector. Also make sure the donor wheel matches the same orientation of dash and radio buttons as your steering wheel.
I have a 6R80 and now I am way more confident doing this on my own after seeing this video. The only gripe, if there was any, would be the different pattern of carbon fiber. 🫠 great vid thank you!
Great video, made this job a breeze for me. Hardest part was getting the air bag clips freed up at the start. Tips: use a screwdriver with a thin round shaft. It needs to be free to pivot a little in the hole so you can get the angle right. It also needs to be long enough that the handle does not hit the paddle shifter, which pivots the blade off of the clip if it does. Finally, don't use one with a small diameter handle, or put a socket over the end of the handle to give you a big surface to push on with the palm of your hand. My clips had straight wire, no bend at the end. I think that made it much more difficult to depress them fully without the screwdriver slipping off. After I was done, I realized a long 1/8" punch might have worked better.
jesus all those tools lol all I needed was an allen key to pop the airbag, then torx20, torx50 plus (I think 22+ are no longer the hex bolt), torque wrench, and blue loctite
@@jonnysrt4666 you guys shouldn't be getting any airbag lights, unless something is wrong. I would say start over by disconnecting the battery, and re-pulling the airbag off the front of the steering wheel, and then making sure you have the wiring correct and there aren't any pinched wires in the install. Put everything back together, and then reinstall the battery terminals. Having installed hundreds of these at our shop since 2015 - we've never once had an airbag light after installing.

This was by far the best tutorial I found and helped me finish the job. Especially showing what the clips look like inside the wheel. Thank you!!
Best video! I was able to follow the steps and swap out the wheel without any issue. 👍🏻
Thanks for the thorough install it walked me through it step by step

Allen key really works to get that air bag out. It take way less tries to get it to pop.

what a coincidence I just installed a gt350r on mine, the alcantara feels so good
Looks awesome. I want this wheel so bad too, plus if I do I should make sure to do the carbon fiber inserts at the same time!
Very thorough, thanks very much 👍
