    Hey everyone, I really appreciate you watching this video. If you are able to support me on Patreon or Memberships, the links are below. If you can't or don't want to, that's totally okay - I'll be fine for a little bit. I hope you are excited for 2024 as much as I am. I'll see you in the next video as a full-time TH-camr. Thank you so much and keep fighting the good fight.

    I'm on the same boat, bro. I lost my job in September, and I've not had a job since... I've been rejected from every job that I've applied for. 🙃 since this happened to me, I've decided I want to start a youtube channel full-time as it has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I have always pushed doing TH-cam aside because of fear. But now I have an idea that could kick-start the channel. My best advice for you is to branch out to other games, you could cover news of games or even play games that are very popular that you may be good at, as this will gain attraction to your channel, so many channels make the mistake of sticking to one game and never see there channel properly grow especially if its on a game like fallout 76, this game isn't popular... so covering this game isn't going to cut it. You have to go where the views are at. Hopefully, this helps, and I'm sure you already know this, but it's nice to be aware. Hopefully, something works out for you, man.

      Also, you will want to check the “weather” on hot ticket topics. You don’t want to fall into the pit that other TH-camrs have and say the wrong thing, at the wrong time.

      Working for other people is not so bad as it seems. My family used to run a restaurant and when covid attacked, we got crushed so bad and accumulated a bunch of debts. Atleast as an employee, you'll get some security especially if you can't risk much. I work 3 jobs now (Medical laboratory work and at the same time a phlebotomist; On the weekends I do mechanic work and a forklift driver on a local market) and it doesn't stress me that much, hard labor gets paid well and it's less stressful than the stuff with a lot of micromanagement. You go in, do the job, get paid, and get out. It's much better than creative work and it gets you a bunch of free time.

    • @CHICKENNUGGET69360
      @CHICKENNUGGET69360 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A bunch of kids want to go the creative/administrative route but everybody is doing the same and the pay is not worth it for the amount of work you put in and the stress you need to manage. Just get as many jobs that doesn't need that much effort, and the salary will be more than that of your main job, it also helps with burnout.
      Also a friend paid me 200$ just for cleaning her 4 bathrooms in her house just this week. Each bathroom took around 30 mins because I gave the squeeky clean experience but physical labor pays nowadays because everyone is lazy.

    • @UnknownMann.
      @UnknownMann. ปีที่แล้ว

      @CHICKENNUGGET69360 the down side of working for someone else is that you're limited to making a certain amount of money. If you start your own business, at least you have the opportunity to make an unlimited amount. That's a goal not everyone wants or is capable of doing. Everyone wants different things to accomplish in life, and from your perspective, it seems everyone should just do labour work to make a decent amount. Why should anyone limit themselves to that? When you are aware of what you truly can achieve. Having that mindset is so small, but like I said, not everyone thinks big.

    • @LoneVaultWanderer
      @LoneVaultWanderer  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for the advice mate. I'll definitely be covering other games moving forward. If you are in the position to, follow your dreams. Life is too short to be wondering "what if?".

I have been an employee of Microsoft for the last 21 years (I’m lucky and fortunate to be in a sector that is essential; Network Engineering). I have MANY friends in the IT field who can’t find long term employment as I have. I try to help get them any contracts available but there are too many people as opposed to contracts. Secondly those contracts are short term, so it’s not a permanent solution.

    Looking for a job is a full time job. Starting a business as a content creator is a total commitment and more than a full time job, expect 12 hour days at minimum and six days a week at minimum for at least six months. You will need a business plan and a professional circle of support (meaning lawyers and accountants). Begin with your current IP …are you trademarked? Do you have a domain and site that you control which feeds your socials and that all your socials link back to? If you are in the US, do you have an LLC or have you incorporated? It’s critical to take time in the beginning to make the business plan and then monitor your stats to learn where you are seeing growth. It may seem at first that TH-cam is going to be your cash cow, but you might find that Twitch is a better draw for micro transactions or that a weekly sub stack newsletter actually pays the biggest ROI. You have an exciting journey ahead; I will sub on Patron.

      Many lawyers find they don’t actually enjoy the work, so they move into other fields. Still, it’s a great toolset for anyone in business in part because you learn how to understand contracts. I am not a lawyer but I have hired many over the years; always have someone trained review any contract before you sign it. Words don’t mean what the layman thinks they mean when it comes to contracts.

    H3ll of a "hobby," dude. You're freek'n top 1% in my book!! Summary on Top: You got this, man! You seem to have already laid down an incredible foundation for moving to full time.
    By the way, taking the "safe option" isn't always the fearful, play it safe decision. It sounds like your previous two big decisions (Bethesda and the other job) probably gave you some great experiences and skills, not to mention the opportunity to build up a financial base. And your TH-cam channel definitely matured during that time.
    Maybe I feel super excited for you not just because your TH-cam content is freek'n amazing! But also because your just mapped out in your own way exactly what I went through. Long story/short, I always wanted to be a filmmaker (scripting, shooting, editing, even voice over, etc.) but about six years ago, after dealing with some massive burn out, I decided that I kind of didn't have any other choice but to go freelance filmmaker. I just felt so strongly that getting another full time IT job was impossible. I saw myself as very unmarketable (getting turned down a lot kind of supported that view). So, mostly through lack of corporate involvement in IT for about six years now I have unintentionally burned that bridge. Now, propped up a bit by some part time work, I rely on my freelance video creation projects. So.... I guess I'm saying, "Welcome to the Self Employed Party!" The water is insanely cold when you first jump in, takes your breathe away. But it's invigorating!
    You are so super professional in all of your videos. Your content is outstanding--it's how I discovered your channel and why I stick with it. And you put the effort into the total package. Audio (don't ever go cheap on audio, right?)--if the audio isn't quality on a TH-cam video, I move on... like literally within about 10 seconds into their video. Also, your camera framing, depth of field, color quality, hell, even your background really helps tell the story that you are the real deal. You are clearly an all-in, make it great kind of person. All these things make your videos cool, fun, and easy to follow.
    2024 will be scary. For sure. But, if you want the advice of a total stranger (and an old f@rt, to boot), go for it! You have sooooo much talent, and a kindness about you that the world needs more of, and you already laid down this massive foundation to build off of. Barring something really crazy happening that might force you back to a "day job" I would recommend that you give this 12 full, solid months. No matter how you might feel during that time, just do it. I suspect that, come 2025, you'll be in a very good place as a full time TH-camr!

    lost my job too got 3 more days coming up my last three 12 hour shifts come towards the end of the week due to a big layoff at my work
    they basically said they over stocked the warehouses last summer and now we're too stocked up and orders are low so ETA for getting back on is September or later now and my boss said its not a typical lay off but we arent getting fired either we just arent employees anymore after this coming saturday and told me to re apply once my position opens up again but for the meantime all my machines will be vacant with no one running them and ill be out of money because i live in a rural area and was driving an hour as is to get to this place so its a waiting game and trying to make content to start up a channel but its all very sudden and really overwhelming

    Losing your job sucks. Had the same experience, losing my job of 4 years due to company downsizing. I can either keep looking for full-time employment in-house somewhere in an industry dominated by freelancing.. or I can try building something on my own. It's scary for the exact reason you said; if it fails it's all on you.. but also the sky is the limit.

    Dang bro, I really REALLY feel what you going through. Ya know, internet stuff is internet stuff. It’s completely whatever but in real life, in grounded perspective, a lot of us can relate to this struggle. Losing your job sucks and it happens to basically most humans. You’ll bounce back for sure, you aren’t out for the count, but I genuinely mean it when I say, it’s okay to sit back and feel sad and even sulk a bit. Most people want to say just keep pushing forward but it’s okay to allow yourself to take in those moments of sadness, drain it out so it’s significantly easier to move forward. Take time to unclog your mental drain and once you’re done, you can flow water through it much easier than before. Much love and support bro

    At some point in all of our lives we go through unemployment. In the industry I used to be in, it was always a possibility due to volatility. I have been there, it's scary, it sucks. The best advice I can give is to sign up for any unemployment assistance ASAP, continue to look for work, but most importantly, take advantage of the free time. That was a mistake I made once. I was stressing so much about finding another job, I didn't take advantage of the free time to take up hobbies I wanted to do, spend time with loved ones, do projects that I had on the back burner, etc.
    Your next job will come, this extra time to do what YOU WANT TO DO, is an opportunity.

      @J.erem.y ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At will employment is exactly that. It's not wrongful termination if it's legal. You can't be fired for discrimination or stuff like that under federal law.
      Whoever fired you may very well have been morally corrupt, but no one is forced to do the right thing. If a place did a thing, you probably don't want to work there anyway to be honest.

      @J.erem.y Wrongful termination in every way except a legal one, everyone knows it should be illegal to do these things but no one says anything about it and just says "suck it up and find another job" but these places can look bad on your employment history and there's nothing you can do to change that. America is garbage and companies make it that way, doesn't matter how hard you work or do the right things, you can always be screwed over by a coward who is protected by nonsense laws. At Will states and laws are immoral and corrupt by nature and they do not care if they ruin your life.

    • @J.erem.y
      @J.erem.y ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eboethrasher That's the point, there is no wrongful termination in "at will" states. At will just means either party can decide to terminate the relationship at any time without consequence or breach of contract. With the exception of discrimination and stuff like that which is protected federally. Usually its situations where one person feels wronged, due to a misunderstanding of the law. No one wants to be in a job where they can get a fine for quitting, which is why we have at will employment.
