Don’t cut Tremaine! I get he’s not gonna get 150+ tackles but he is a great coverage LB, he covers the field, and usually gets the ball thrown away from him so he can’t get tackles. Also add the fact he’s a captain!

Caleb ain’t gonna be Brady out the gate, he’s a rookie, he’s gonna make mistakes, but he’s got 787 yards, 3 TDs and 4 Ints (prior to the Panthers game). He’s 2-2 as a starter, which is decent, I say, give him a better o-line and he’ll be solid.

The second round pick from Carolina will be a huge chip for Poles. He will have the capital to make a move in next year’s draft.

I don't think we can settle for 3 and 3 in the conference any more. If you want to be more you have to start winning more.
3 and 3 is what I counted preseason as the bears division record and felt that was positive given how good all 3 teams are.
I would not trade Herbert for less than a 5th-they would be able to get a 6th for him next year. Keep him for depth this year.

I would rather us draft Emery Jones just bc I think he is more versatile in the sense of moving to guard. If we are looking for a pure OT, than Campbell would be great. Booker is also the best pure guard in the draft in my opinion, so some interesting guys there

Would be over paying Sandborn a little for next year, but i'd consider sticking a 2nd rd tender on him. Gives us flexibility at the end of '25 we could let Sandborn walk or cut/trade Edmunds for minimal dead cap. If someone comes in & wants to sign him on a long term offer sheet we thank him for his service & take the 2nd rd pick which we can use on the IOL or trade away for a package of additional mid rd picks in the '26 & '27 drafts. That will help keep the roster depth once Brisker/Gordon etc need to start being paid or leave for F/A
This is another indication that sometimes GM Ryan Poles isn't always Forward thinking. Khalil Herbert should have been traded once they decided to bring back Travis Homer and started leaning towards giving reps at running back to Velus Jones.
Sanborn is a beast and future pro bowler
Herbert's value is that if a RB gets hurt, he can step up and fill in. I'd want at least a 5th, preferably a 4th, for him, and that probably won't happen.

No to drafting defense because we need o line help. Also slow the Caleb is great talk/ or he is improving each game lol. His stats so far: 2nd in being sacked, tied 3rd for interceptions, tied 3rd for fumbles, 5th in attempts, 26th in completions, 21st in yards, 29th avg yards, 21st in yards per game, 24th in td’s, 29th in qbr, 30th in rtg. Fields, cj stroud, Jaden McDaniel hell all three dolphins qb’s are better across the board. This team has the worst offense in tons of stats. Only thing going good is the easy schedule and other team’s injuries and we are lucky to be 2-2 with a good o line and coach we’d should be 4-0. So calm down with your generational qb. When a gm never invests his top money on o line and hires high school coaches that’s what you get. If we beat panthers I’d be surprised hell I can’t think of a worse offense in the league. Wasting money on so called weapons and defense will never get you to the playoffs you need top o lineman that requires paying them the big bucks. ( which for some reasons the bears never do) look at the past 8 years of Chicago football. I’ll be a bears fan but I ain’t no homer this team doesn’t need to draft a single defensive player the next two years period.

Before the season started we all thought 2-2 was to be expected, but our offense makes everything difficult. Commanders make everything look easy. Our coaching staff is to blame because it looks like this every week, every year despite the QB change

I’d cut Edmonds to free up some money. Sanborn can play Tremaine’s position. He’s not worth all that money that Chicago payed him
He's a great pass defending Lb, which isn't easy to find and well needed. Sanborn was just a tackling machine for the most part, certainly not as good in coverage as Tremaine. They actually got him at a bargain compared to some of the other highest paid Lbs.

@brandonbass1717 I agree Johnson is a better blocker, but no doubt Herbert is the better runner and they have been equal at pass catching. As a compliment to each other if Swift goes down, Herbert on 1st and 2nd and Johnson on 3rd and also short yardage.

Once I see him leading this team in a full season of a winning record and going to the playoffs and deep in the playoffs, consistently, and if he can do this at least 3 seasons in a row as a Bears QB, then I will buy his jersey. Until then, if and when that happens, I am saving my money.
