Every time i see the wonderful safety team i think of Steven who passed in 2017 and the heroic work and their own lives they put on the line for the competition and world records. What amazing selfless people 😍
Who does the safety for the safety divers? 30 meters is rather a deep dive in itself. I could not dive to 30 and get back without being out of puff. Anyway my main question is what happens to divers who might get into trouble at 100 meters.. Does the diver get pulled up on the main line using a winch system or something or they just suffer the consequences?
Came across this video the other day of a deep blackout at 38m, Diver sinks back down to 55-60m, the live feed was cut so the rescue isnt shown but the guy survived. th-cam.com/video/rIqdGDTD1WE/w-d-xo.html I believe they pull the diver out with a counter ballast system
Yes I'm also wondering what the safety backup is for the first safety diver - they're not tethered to the line so the counter ballast rescue system wouldn't work. It seems to me that if the first safety diver gets in trouble before the second safety diver arrives, they're basically doomed...
30M may seem deep to some but it is a nothing dive for professional freedivers such as the safeties at Vertical Blue. There is a lot of misinformation on this subthread. A proper class would answer a lot of these questions.
@@SoCalSpearIt But on the really deep dives, the first safety will be going to 40m+... This certainly isn't insignificant... They're doing heaps of dives every day, and it just takes one tiny mistake, or blackout, for them to be completely helpless right?
Maybe instead of using safety divers once the main diver has picked up a tag the line could follow the diver back to the surface such that if he or she blacks out the winch can then get the diver to the surface in a jiffy.
@@SeamanGR - Maybe they do but in the absence of a safety diver at a 100 meters it’s better than nothing.. or do your flap your arms when you wana go trans continental.

@@rush8951 Oiks.. I think it’s very dangerous to sink back down.. Lungs would be flooded. Seems we sink rather fast too.

Whats the backround music?
one day, i will be part of this team & community to provide safety and laughter.
