I’m a Samoan Kiwi living in Japan and I watched the incredible game, where the Brave Blossoms beat the Springboks in the RWC2015, at a bar in Osaka. A local rugby team was there watching and they saw me and my mates walk in and just assumed we were supporting the Boks. Then we started screaming and cheering for the Japanese team. They local players all ran over happy af and we watched the rest of the match, getting drunk, together. It was AWESOME! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to any games in 2019, but had some mean bonding sessions with randoms from ALL around the world, at bars. I even made it onto Japanese TV when I was interviewed for the Samoa vs Japan 🇼🇸🇯🇵game in Nagoya City. It was MEAN. All of this was pre-COVID aye. Can’t wait for things to get back to normal. Take care and be safe y’all!!

I went out to Japan for 5 weeks for this World Cup, it was amazing. Beautiful country and the people are so nice and friendly it made me want to be a better person. Watching them beat Ireland in a bar in Tokyo surrounded by local fans jumping around and hugging everyone was a pretty special moment!

14:21 the reason why this game was so big (South Africa Vs Japan) was because in the previous world cup 2015 in England. Japan first shocked the rugby world by beating South Africa, that's why this loss feels really sad because of the high expectations. But either way, they played there heart out

I am South African and I truly felt bad for Japan they played so well during the world cup they were unbeaten in their pool table they went clean through into the quarter finals without any game lost then they played against our mighty springboks and they lost really bad. Don't get me wrong I am so happy we won the world cup in 2019 in Japan but Japan played like world champions against Russia, Ireland, Scotland and Samoa. That was their very first ever rugby world cup quarter final match as well.

Players can represent countries other than the one they were born in as long as all the criteria are met. That’s different from country to country I think. Some players affiliate to these other countries through family. Like my fathers grandfathers wife’s mother was from Scotland so I can play for them even though I was born in Canada. In New Zealand I think you have to play in New Zealand for so many years and you can’t have played for another country. I think that’s it. Also NZ only select nz players if they are currently playing in NZ. They don’t select over seas based players. Some players have spent so long in the country they play for that’s just their country now. The captain of Japan, the number 6, in this rwc is from NZ and has played 3 or maybe even 4 world cups for Japan. Also those aren’t Samoan players bowing. They’re Japanese. Jersey swap
