Great video which gives me confidence to put my back together. I bought my 63 with the engine and entire drive train out and apart.

Thank you for this informative video...well lit, excellent sound, showed me some things I am not familiar with. I know powerglide powered Corvairs but getting ready to work on a 64 convertible, my 1st straight drive Corvair.

Wondering if you put thread locker on the bolts when you took the washers off🤔

Should have adjusted that noisy valve clatter. These are not Beetles.

Yes it was pretty noisy. I did adjust the valves when I put new valve cover gaskets and it quieted down a bunch. Thanks for watching!

@@DickShaw Hello. On Corvairs and all GM small blocks of that era 0 lash plus 1/2 to 3/4 additional turns usually dialed in the valve adjust. Check your push rod ends they get worn and fling too much oil causing a multitude of problems. New one are handy or you can fill weld and redress the ends of you want. When push rod holes get worn open excessively too much oil travels out of the lifters. This causes lifter clatter an damage. Also to much oil flings into the valve covers. This can increase valve cover and push rod tube leakage and lower your over all engine oil system pressures. Naturally causing lubrication and premature bearing conditions.. Probably one of the least understood issues for millions of engine builders.
