    Hi Mark, your carp video's are the best, you have the content spot on, being very informative, done at a steady pace. I also welcome your subtle bait, rigs and tackle reviews / promotions...... all done without the usual 'full on, in your face product hard sell', that I see on other TH-cam video's.

  • @bradleyclarke4432

    I live in Cornwall by Newquay and my target is a 20+ mirror, I've done the Common but hearing " a beautiful dark mirror of just under 20 doesn't matter how big when look like that" cant help but feel a little patronised one can only catch the fish available to yourself a 20 is a lump and should not be looked upon for the aesthetics only.

    Question on the Pop-up rigs 16:30 - does a fish know if a bait it on the deck or an inch or so off it as when its over the bait it cant see it when feeding.. Thoughts???

    • @MarkPitchers
      @MarkPitchers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Russ Walker hi mate, that's a good point, in the vid I say that I only use pop ups if there's a chance the hook can be hindered by any debris etc, so obviously a pop up elevates the hook above any potential debris etc. Also, on silty waters when fish are feeding in the silt a 1 inch pop up can be too high 😊

  • @chanteller385
    @chanteller385 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So for how many years have people been using the hinged stiff rig?? And how high were these for a number of those years?? But a couple of years with people using the Ronnie rig and carp are maybe looking at pop ups differently? There is no logic in that statement.

    • @MarkPitchers
      @MarkPitchers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is perfect logic. Because of all the ready-tied Ronnie Rigs available to buy and the Ronnie Rig kits, plus the fact it is easier to tie than a hinged stiff, as well as all the "hype" surrounding it far more people are fishing that sort of presentation than ever before. Five years ago not everyone was fishing hinged stiff rigs, these days I think you'll find a Ronnie rig is one of the most used presentations out there.

    • @chanteller385
      @chanteller385 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkPitchers I understand your point that everyone is using a Ronnie. My point is the height of the Ronnie. it barely sits an inch off the deck and if the thinking behind carp not sussing the hinged stiff rig is that the fish come from above and doesn't realise it's a couple of inches off of the deck. Then how small would a carp be to be feeding level enough with a Ronnie rig to actually suss it was a pop up?? My belief is that it's too low for even a 10lb carp to suss it's off the deck, and it's so effective because carp treat it like a bottom bait.

    • @marksmith-pj3bh
      @marksmith-pj3bh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Surely i cant be the only one thats using hsr,s with weighted little pop ups, wafters and out and out bottom baits. Started using hinge rigs 20 yrs ago, 19 yrs ago realised how well they work, with a little adaption, for bottom baits. You tube wont tell you that tho boys and girls, until now!
