We were stunned, when having been told that we would have a little wait for the chips, so talking to those to ladies who ran the place, we learnt they had worked in the Woolwich Arsenal, during second world war and they said if the air raid sirens went off they just kept working, no point in running, because if it got hit by a bomb, there were so many thousand tonnes of munitions, they would have been blown to smithereens. No point in running, so they just carried on. My respect for those old ladies went through the roof.

Recently the restaurant side of the business closed down due to the cost of living crisis. It’s now opened back up, but there isn’t any waiter/waitress so you can eat your takeaway in the restaurant from your takeaway carton

I live in the middle of the United States and the problem with that is that good seafood is not available and what is available is expensive. The best we have is "cat fish".

Lots of people put gravy on fish. Me and my dad always had fish chips and gravy on chippy day, and that was 30+ years ago. Maybe it’s a regional thing. Curry works too though.
