2018 HINO 338 user manual 6-63 says: SAE 10W-30 is generally recommended for your engine. 6-64 says: If, at the time you begin driving your vehicle, the outside temperature is 90°F(32°C) or higher, use SAE15W-40.
I have a question would appreciate your opinion. I've been told stick to either conventional or synthetic oil doesnt matter which but dont switch between them. Whats your opinion on that? God bless 🙌
You can use either one. You just cannot ever mix the two. Conventional, I would change it at 5,000 miles. Synthetic, you can afford to go 7,500-8000. If you decide to go from Conventional to Synthetic or vice verse. That should not harm the vehicle as long as you change the oil when needed.
The only thing I have ever heard about going between 1 or the other is 2 things. First, if your vehicle has been using conventional, you can go to synthetic, but it's not advisable to go back to conventional. If your vehicle uses synthetic, it must remain that way.
@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 Yeah sry about that I asked that question before you answered in the video, thanks I enjoy and need this content you put out
Take a look at your Owner's Manual. It do say 10w-30 is generally recommended. And however you should select a suitable oil viscosity depending on outside temperature. If your outside temperature is 90F (32C) or higher. Hino recommended you use SAE 15w-40.
@jarellesmith4285 You can do that. But by you living in Ohio. You are good to go with 10w-30 all year around. But like myself who live in a southern area. 15w-40 is a must more Dependable oil especially 9 months out of a year.
Mann the last person who tightened this oil filter tightened it too tight… the filter wrench is bending the filter more than it’s loosening it… 🤦 any suggestions?
I hate when that happens. See if you have another Filter Wrench the same size. If so, slide one all the way to the base. And have other one at the bottom. And try to turn them both at the same time.
Hi, so you are saying to change the oil every 5,000 miles. That is with 15W-40 Full Synthetic Oil? Hino dealer was telling me every 15,000 miles? I will do it your way of course better sooner than later. Why would they tell me every 15,000 though?
My videos are according to the Operator Manual. I have not seen in the Manual about using Full Synthetic. The 15w-40 that I use is Rotella T3 15w-40. I must say that I do understand the Dealer saying 15,000 miles if you are using Full Synthetic. And you are traveling on open highways only with no in city travel.
@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 I am using Amsoil full synthetic 15W-40. Even though it is full-Synthetic I want to do whatever will extend the life of my engine. I will change it every 5,000.
@@johnconnolly9210You can do 10,000 with Amzoil & maybe more but 10,000 to be safe. That's some of the best oil out there & pricey! So between oil & filter every 5,000 mile will kill your budget! I ran Mystic 15w-50 Synthetic blend in my W900L 3406e 550hp Caterpillar & I changed every 10,000 and it was over a million miles when a guy flew down from Ohio with a bag fulla money & drove it back from Atlanta to his farm in Ohio. I know it's a much heavier duty truck but the concept is still the same when it comes to the maintenance. KEEP THAT OIL CHANGED👍🏿 I like that Amzoil Synthetic 🥰👍🏿

Oil weight can depend on where you live or traveling. I like to make sure that I am on the same glide lines with the Owner's Manual.

why is the oil still black after changing it?
Good question, some Engines are like that. There is nothing wrong with it. The main important thing is keeping up with the Oil Change due schedule.
