Maverick's woman in this movie is Penny. She was referenced twice in the original movie - When Maverick and Goose were getting yelled at in the beginning of the movie by their commander for three 'fly-byes - Two on aircraft towers, and one on an Admiral's daughter.' To which Goose asked Maverick, "Penny Benjamin?"
Penny was also mentioned by Goose's wife in the bar in the original Top Gun movie.
i was about to post this, she is the mysterious Admiral's daughter from the original movie.
That shot at 21:20 where there's like, a dozen SAM missiles just flying in every direction and EVERYONE is popping flares is absolutely insane.

And she also has a relationship with him [Maverick].

An "afterburner" is a part of jet engines which basically throws fuel directly in the exhaust and turn the jet into something that is closer to a rocket making it push much harder and thus make the plane go a lot faster, on the sail boat when she told Maverick to spin the thing and inflate the big sail the boat "went on afterburner"... It's sort of an expression for going really really fast.
So kind of like noz spray? Pulls air through?
Btw I know nothing about engines. I know all little about martial arts and health/healthy living. But when my car has issues I only have google, lucky me. But the combustible engine is a curiosity to me recently. Never stop learning ya know.
Val Kilmer the actor that plays Iceman has throat cancer in real life and can't speak much, the 12:36 voice we hear in the movie was recorded by Val Kilmer's son.
Actually, it's been revealed that it was an AI dubbing.

No. They did not allow Tom to do his own stunts except fly his personal prop plane at the end of the film. He did get a pilots license for jets during filming, but the insurance companies would not allow him to fly fighter jets in the movie. They shot inside some two seater training jets to make it look like the actors were flying their own jets, but most of the actual flying stunts were done with computer graphics. There were only a few shots of real aircraft. It was the ORIGINAL Top Gun that had mostly real stunt flying.
The super sonic jet at the beginning was a mock up. It was toed out to the runway by a truck that was digitally painted out. The rest was also CG.
Not 100% true but not 100% wrong either. The filming was about 60% actual jets, though every plane crash/explosion was CGI. Also all the enemy planes were F-18s with CGI to look like Su-57s. Also, the opening Mach 10 scene was CGI.
The actors were sitting in the back seat but there was much more actual aerial shots than the original, which mostly used miniature planes.
@@thePouncingPurplePanther That was pretty much debunked once the effects teams' NDA's were removed, allowing the releasing of their work product for industry advertising and it showed just how much of Maverick was using digital simulations. Even some cockpit shots. All of the Tomcat shots in the climax were CG as the jet model is no longer available in the U.S. for filming. The same kind of CG work was used on the Korean War based film, "Devotion." About 90% of the first film was actual aerial stunt work with only models used for very specific scenes like explosions and Maverick's jet spinning out of control. They even got the Navy to allow them to film a jet firing a dummy test missile, but only once for the original. So, in the movie you see the same missile shot flipped and cropped/zoomed in on more than one sequence. The MIG-28's for the Indian Ocean dog fights were a different brand of jet (often used as military trainer jets), spray painted black for the movie, and used as stand-in's for real MIG fighters because there was no such thing as a MIG-28.
The flying scenes inside thee jet were all done with actual flying jets except for the scenes in the F14, they got permission to film inside a museum piece and turn on some of the cockpit lights and whatnot. Most of the happening outside the canopy was CGI.
@@robertsmith4681 It just goes to show how far along computer animation has come when they put some real effort into them (unlike Marvel and DC). Paramount was able to fool the public with their ad campaigns that "Maverick" was going back to basics with real jet flying like the original "Top Gun"... when it was mostly hot PR air. That's why the effects houses working on the film were told to keep silent until the gag order was lifted.
Penny wasn’t in the first movie. But she was mentioned. (The Admirals daughter, Maverick was accused of doing a fly-by on.)
1: Lockheed actually designed the Darkstar for this movie, as they would if they were to actually make a jet capable of this speed in real life. Skunkworks is the division that worked up the SR-71 and the stealth bombers. It was named after a moonshine still in a comic book.
2: Penny is the admiral's daughter mentioned in the beginning of Top Gun.
3: Hangman going from the guy who'd leave you to do his own thing to being the one who saved them is a great redemption, too.
To answer your question, yes he was in the jets during those maneuvers while shooting the movie.

Pro tips...penny is the admirals daughter from the firsy movie. Hangman so impresser tom as an actor and person, he told him to ho get a pilot licence...he did! Goose learned to play the piano sing, for this movie. Bob, the pilot, is real life son of bill Pullman, who pkayed a pilot and president in Independence Day! Tom has multiple licences in real life...chaueffer, motorbike, single and two prop and single jet planes, even real estate! Hangmans ego here is a combination of iceman and maverick. They spent 30 to 90 minutes a day for months, flying for this, and had to vontrol their own equipment, cameras, mics, etc., while in the air. Many of them ended up with jet fuel and carcinogens in their blood! Yhe genetal was a test pilot in the movie, The Right Stuff and flight director in Apollo 13! The plane at the end....is Toms'!!!😮😮😮 Goose best movie will forever be Whiplash!!! Jennifer Connelly has done so many epic movies and scenes....hrr riding the qurter operated horse is a classic! But she will go down in history for the movie Labrynth!😮

'Full force of those graphics' ... almost all the shots were in-air footage. No graphics.
The nation the US was attacking is Iran. It's the only country we ever sold the F-14 to. And that was to the Shah's government, before the revolution. The P-51 Mustang you see is Tom Cruise's airplane. It's an authentic vintage plane, not a reproduction.
You are correct, the location of the target would be Iran, but the main forces protecting the target would be Russia, because they are the only ones that fly the Su-57 5th generation fighters used in this film and backed up by the Iranian Air Force which is the only country that flys the F-14.
