Not even close. Think gymnastics or mma. You risk career ending injuries and perform feats much more impressive than hitting a ball. Also when it comes to mma and martial arts in general your physicality is matched up against an opponent that can alter it by, let's say, kicking your legs. Furthermore you use limited movements, with only your hands in tennis unlike gymnastics, mma or even American football which I despise. Lastly, in tennis, you have limited skills to master and that can actually be mastered. You can always create a new trick in gymnastics or learn a new technique in mma. Nobody has mastered all of grappling, all of striking or all of gymnastics. You can always add one more summersault before landing or hold a position thought impossible to hold, like the one arm planche for example, or invent a new submission. Tennis is hard to play at a high level and those athletes deserve respect but it is not the hardest sport in the world by a mile simply because of the limitations it put on its athletes.

I wouldn't want to engage in a sport like MMA or gymnastics due to risk of having a very serious debilitating injury. Tennis is one of the toughest sports in the world due to the all around demands of it (technique, tactics, mental toughness and fitness). The season for tennis is very long ( from January to November). Not so for gymnastics. And a grand slam tournament lasts two weeks. A major event in gymnastics is only perhaps 3-4 days. Tennis doesn't have the creativity like other sports do but that doesn't make it any easier. In sports science it's been proven that the tennis serve is the most biomechanically complex skill in all of sports.

The tennis serve is by no means the most complex movement in sports. Also, even though tennis is a very spectator-friendly sport, the athletes are not very impressive in any way besides endurance (and skill but that goes for most sports). Put the most athletic tennis player (meaning fast, strong, explosive etc) against an nfl/nba player or an Olympic gymnast, weightlifter or sprinter/high jumper and he will look like a child. I like Novak Djokovic very much but compared to someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo he's a literal child. Put Rafa next to Bo Jackson or Francis Ngannou and he'll be scared to death. I'm not saying these athletes are not elite compared to most people but compared to other sports they're not close

@@panosts6178 the tennis serve has the most moving parts. Second most is a baseball pitch. Name me a skill in all of sports that has more moving parts. You are comparing Novak in terms of brute force. I am not interested in mostly brute force. Interested in all around skill and ability. Tennis more demanding in terms of all around ability.

Sprinting and high jumping are very plain compared to tennis
