    You know what I don't see? McDonald's, Starbucks, newer companies. These shops are ftom 200 years ago. OK. Old Time.

      The big chains are not far away, on 321. But Hickory has done a great job protecting their town center and its old buildings.

      During prohibition of the 1920s people would sneak into illegal bars to drink and dance the night away.🍺🍺🍺 They called them speakeasies. Called so because you were to speak softy when discussing such a place.

      That sound could have been a car backfiring. A lot of people around here in hickory have loud cars that do that.
