    “A well-rounded child has to know how to cook rice.” That was how it worked in my family. We’re multi-racial Filipino and American. Mama would make you cook the rice everyday until you learned how to do it right. 😆 How fun that you got to learn! The finished dish looks delicious.

    I know you still have to be super careful about what you eat in Malaysia, but it's really nice to see you trying a little bit of everything, and having things like noodles and rice, because nine months to a year ago you weren't able to eat any of that. I hope you're proud of how far you've come, because you look healthier and your energy seems better.

    so thankful for another video! As someone that struggles with chronic depression, your videos and attitude inspire me to wake up early (woke up at 6:50 am today) and feel happy about life! The cooking class looks like so much fun! Maybe one day I will start my own videos, thanks Jess and Claud!

    As a Malaysian student who's currently studying in the UK, I miss the original Nasi Lemak sooooo much and this video's making me drool. No matter how hard I try to make it according to the recipe my grandma gave to me, it'll never beat hers.

    This food looks so pretty! But, sadly, there are so many high FODMAP foods. Well, no problem. I can work with that. The rice looks especially yummy! Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

    What an amazing experience for you & esp. Ruthann’s daughter!! Did you take them with you for the whole 7 weeks, because the resorts you have stayed in have looked so romantic, not somewhere a teenager would want to stay with her mum, lol! I also cannot imagine what it cost to pay for both of their travels, accommodations & of course Ruthann’s signing services. Here in the US we, (as a doctors office), are responsible for providing an interpreter for free, so we foot the bill. The ASL interpreters charge for a minimum of 3hrs, & cost between $125-150p/hr! So you can see it adds up quickly! Anyway, Jan & Babs were absolutely lovely & those will be memories to cherish for a lifetime! Thank you for sharing, & good luck recreating the Sambal...lol! Much love you two!! 💕😘

    Hi Jessica and Claudia, what a wonderful video with recipes and tips behind cooking from the chef Jen.
    Thanks for making this video. I was just wondering this question, hopefuly it’s not too rude or ignorant of me. I thought if you wear hearing aids you will be able to hear, and so you don’t need to have an interpreter. I noticed that you didn’t wear them this time.

    • @oldasyouromens
      @oldasyouromens 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Jenny NguyenTai Jessica has mentioned in previous videos that even with hearing aids in, she's only able to hear background noise and about one word in every three. She understands what's going on through lip reading without her interpreter quite often, but for something as complicated as this, an interpreter is helpful and background noise from hearing aids is probably distracting.
