Hello from Ontario Canada, Now you’re in my domain, racing a Beneteau!! While ours is larger, some tricks to gain speed… Beneteau boats are notoriously foresail driven, in winds over 12 knots on a downwind leg try a reef in the main as they can rob the kite of power… also downwind, put as much “fat forward” of the keel as possible.. Beneteau boats love riding high in the aft portion of the hull downwind. Loved the video as always! Cheers ~ Aaron
Great result! I also raced and ended up with a 8hr30min corrected time which was really good for my little boat! Glad you enjoyed it and got out sailing.

Hey Greg! Thanks. We are mulling over that to do with Miss Rosie at rhe moment. One option would be to sell her now and put the money into Melody but then we would have nothing to sail for melissa and Jack to practise on and to practise as a fsmily over the summer The other option would be to keep her and do lots of sailing as a family and then sell her when Melody is ready so we have a nice little bit of cash come in right when we move aboard and have something to sail in the meantime. If we keep her we might enter the round the island next yesr in Miss Rosie
What a fantastic experience to race a regatta. It's a learning experience every minute, isn't it? I really enjoyed watching this video, but I want Melody ready soon so I can enjoy his surfing! A big hug.
Brilliant filming Andy: you crewed a stressful-looking race and videoed at the same time and managed to get all that footage. Not easy! Crew worked well together and you seemed to know just what to do. Bodes well for your adventure. Good on Alan for inviting you - it was a good call. 8hrs though... I hope there was tea brewing in that galley. Brrr
I just put an order in for a new mainsail from UK Sails, . I was told that a footed main was a result of a racing rule that filtered down to cruisers. From what I understand, the rule has since been changed and therefore, the loose footed main is becoming the norm. A loose footed main holds its shape better and in fact, my sailmaker stated that he has not made a footed main in several years .........
I have never seen what goes on on board a racing sailboat before. Thank you for this concise demonstration.
