Grew up with Gumby as a child in the 60'S I all so like the early Gumby's Classic!
I love these early ones, with the red eyes. Crude, but that's a big part of their charm.
Part of this Gumby short was used in the original 1950s NBC intro, namely the bit with Gumby and the train
Yep!
I own most of the toys from Gumby. Not worth all that much
Maybe Clokey was showing off, but I am impressed! The scene where Gumby is inside the gum-ball machine, They still had him moving, completely encased in plastic! 5:12 I can't figure out if they removed the bubble part or what but it is really remarkable how talented he and his team were.
nkotb 82 agreed👻
Yes, he would have removed the bubble for each small movement.
All those "vintage" toys would be worth a fortune today
No, not all "vintage" toys are in demand. But toys are not "worth a fortune" anyway, depending on what you call a fortune, you can find average vintage toys in the range of $100 - $200 on ebay, in todays dollars that's hardly a fortune. You can find them even cheaper at flea markets. Some are more rare and in demand than others. Generally anything you want can be had at an affordable price depending on how badly you want it. The real criteria for price is how many were made. A lot of them are not rare and can be easily found.
I love how the vintage Lionel Marx toy train set at 5:47 reminds me of the EZ-TEC rio grande train set.
Interesting comparison. The model train set in this episode is definitely from Marx, though they used a Revell transformer for HO-scale trains.
The car crashing at 2:31 is actually a "Crashmobile" made by Tri-Play Toys; they're designed to blow apart like that among impact.
Also love the Marx train scene from 5:29 to 6:17, especially the funky sounds the power pack makes when Pokey turns it on.
4:20 i love that tune
Me too! The Capitol Hi-Q stock music was definitely part of the 1950s Gumby experience.
nice music choice..much of the stock Capitol cues here excellent dining music..the type so often at the era, 1950sa, and 1960s, sold on LPs!)
Yep, the Capitol stock music is definitely part of the 50s Gumby experience!
When I first saw this it was on the DVD by rhino home video and they redid the soundtrack with synthesizers which I somewhat prefer
@@hurricanefury439 Yeah, that was the 1988 version of the episode you saw. They redubbed the old episodes with the new music and voices so they could be consistent with the new episodes made in 1988.
@@ZakWolf i wish i could find the 1988 versions on here because the synthesized music was actually pretty memorable
@@hurricanefury439 Well, to each his/her own. I saw the redubbed versions on TV as a kid, but even then I preferred the original soundtracks, as I had several of those old episodes on VHS with the original sound.

They used two separate Marx trains here, first it's a NYC (New York Central) one, but then it's switched to an ATSF one.
The footage of the Marx train with the 333 locomotive and NYC tender is taken from the original unaired "Adventures of Gumby" pilot (a.k.a. "Baby Gumby"). The new animation of the train passing underneath Gumby uses the Marx 666 locomotive with Santa Fe tender, as seen in some other 1956-57 episodes.
4:21 “Light Movement” John Seely and Bill Loose.
This is the first silent Gumby episode.
Love gumby👻
I like gumby my mom watch it to when she was a kid
In the background at 7:33 is the telescope they used in the first Gumby, "Moon Trip".
6:35 to 7:28
Am I the only one being reminded of Tom and Jerry whenever I hear this music?
But Wait Is That Music?
0:26 that house appeared on the Gumby unaired pilot episode they must’ve used the same house prop in this episode and the pilot episode.
Yep! They also use footage from the pilot episode of the train at 5:46 - 6:09, which would explain why during that timeframe the locomotive is a Marx 333, but then at 6:11, suddenly it's a Marx 666!
This is the last time we’re Gumby and Pokey’s eye pupils are Clay.
0:44 - 0:47 That song of the robot sounds like "Smoke on the water".
Gumby Rocks hard ,very Hard
this was also from cec showtape intermission
Poor gumby
I Love Marx Trains
6:34 Tinkertoys!
1:00 - That's Ideal's very own Robert the Robot.
Yep, it's fun to identify the old toys in these classic Gumby shorts. As I noted, the crashing car is Tri-Play Toys's "Crashmobile," and the model trains are from Marx Toys, except for the Revell power pack.
New discovery: 7:28 brings us Owens-Illinois/Kimble's "Mr. Wizard" Experiments in Chemistry set.
Do they have Gumby: Cartoons in Drag⁉️
9:16
When you find the good booty
Does anyone know who made the house shown in the part where Gumby walks out?
It was made by Marx Toys.
Was that Hiller Flying Platform an actual production toy?
gumby sounds like marie
Marie Osmond? At the end is excellent Julia Child or Rachael Ray cooking show music.:)
It sure looked like it, gas powered and all!
I guss Gumby is having a bad day
Carrie Lawson o
Thanks Captain Obvsious.
At 9:00 Gumby sh¡ted in the floor
He was on LSD!
Actually, he was scraping the burnt brown off him.
This is No Dialogue Episode.
I wonder why nobody talk here
Blastoise finder in some episodes they do talk and in others they don’t
Dominic Guijarro oh thanks for the info!
@@brollowz2912 Or maybe this episode and Outcast Marbles were both silent while the team was trying to find a new voice for Gumby. Just a theory, tho.
William Wilson that’s actually a good theory.
William Wilson or maybe either Gumby’s or pokey’s voices was absent or ill.
