Thank you! I've played a lot of sniper games (my favorite is the Sniper Elite series) and this game confused me so much on the aiming and shooting mechanics. Your tutorial explained it MUCH better than whatever passes for a tutorial in the actual game. The dev and publisher should pay you for doing what they couldn't: give an easy-to-understand, yet in-depth explanation of how the aiming and shooting game mechanic works.

Technical writing classes taught me most manuals and tutorials are written by the engineers who design the program/tool or whatever, and they tend to tell you what something does, and not how to use it or how it works. you can also shoot the fuse panel on the jammers to shut them down and You can take out heavy troops with regular ammo if you aim for areas between armor like arm pits.
I purchased the entire Sniper series during winter sale. I loved the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 (although, it was a buggy game yet I loved it). I started playing this one today and I was confused about how to land a perfect headshot and aim but your video made it quiet easy to understand. Thanks a lot brother. I hope the devs understands how to make explaination easy or tutorial easier to understand. I know it's more of a simulation than game yet they could've made it easier.
SGW3 is my favorite sniper game, but it really requires the "SGW3 Fixes and Tweaks" mod to make it playable. It's unfortunate the CI Games hasn't shown the commitment to providing the finishing polish to their games. I really hope that they make a "grown up" open-world SGW4 some day that really leans into simulation rather than the gamer elements that they embraced in Contracts 1 and 2. Not holding my breath, though.

Dear Sir Eric: I am on a mission where I use a heavy long distance sniper rifle & extreme long distance scope. The enemy is over 1100 meters far but i can only extend my range to my scope to 900 meters and can't go any further. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Joaquin in Tucson.
Each scope has a different range of adjustment and range of holdover lines. On some scopes, reducing the magnification can make a sufficient number of holdover lines visible. That said, I don't believe there is anywhere in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts (#1) that you can shoot at over 1100 meters. Really wanted to like it, but never got into the Sniper Elite series. If you haven't tried Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, it's really the best of the series although getting a little dated now. The Fixes and Tweaks Mod is critical, but it's really a joy to play once running properly.
If you're still stuck, it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Essentially, depending on the wind and your distance, the dotted line that appears on your sights is where you should put your enemy in accordance with distance.
@@allthenamesiwantedweretaken Yes! Once I figured out how to coordinate the falling white dotted line with the point of the target and the distance, I started getting pretty regular bull's eyes. Before this video I was guesstimating
I don't believe you can deactivate those devices without destroying them by shooting them (maybe a thrown rock?). I'll have to experiment, as it's been awhile since I played Contracts 1. In Contracts 2 you can disable anti-personnel mines with the E-key but I don't think you can deactivate gas mines without just walking over them. By some strange logic, the gas is non-toxic to you in Contracts 2.
I verified that you cannot deactivate the gas mines, anti-tank mines, or bouncing bettys without destroying them (hitting them with a bullet or grenade). The mines that you find behind the red warning signs are likewise cannot be deactivated.
hopefully it's still useful three years later, there was a fair amount of bagginess with the keybinds early on but overall a fun game. If you like being sneaky, and you know I do!
Ghost Warrior has been threatening to be a superb sniper game for a while now.....Hope we see it get achieved in the next few titles! ('Contracts' is still a deeply uneven game imo) - Just as Sniper Elite 4 has finally become the fantastic game that *that* series was always aiming to be (Fnur!), imo SE4 is a fkn *great* sniping game! I know this is old but i just got the game, How do i use the diagram on the top left of the scope to determine their range without actually spotting them with the mask? my mask sometimes doesn't have the range to spot.
My recollection is that the ranging feature of the mask doesn't work when there is a jammer in place, which prevents tagging of enemies. Use the ranging feature on the upper-left of the scope reticle to estimate the range of a standing enemy. At 600m distance, an average height person will reach from the horizontal reticle to the 600m line, and so on, obviously at 100m the enemy height appears much taller than at 600m. This is a feature that is commonly implemented in real life, but based on MIL or MOA. It is very handy in this game for making quick estimations of distance without having to use your mask.

Probably not, as it’s really a matter of your play style and the map you are in. Close and sneaky is perfect for echolocation. Have patience in methodically searching for snipers as you move through each section of the map. My preference is actually to avoid all the unrealistic skills/abilities in the sniper genre.

This is also particularly useful in areas where a jammer is in effect, which prevents tagging of enemies.
When I recorded this, I was using a i7-6700k / Radeon VII @ 1440p, although I am currently playing on a 3900X / RX 6800 XT. This game isn't particularly challenging for hardware to drive; mid-tier GPUs (RTX 2070 / RX 5700 XT) should have no trouble maintaining >60fps @ 1440p with maxed out quality.
You can purchase attachments whenever you are outside of a contract. Simply open up the weapon on the Loadout / Soldier page and select the suppressor, and confirm that you want to buy it. I neglect to show that, but you can see proper page @5:52.
I love Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 because those games have a small colored dot in the scope that lets you know for sure that you are dead on target but this game does not have that dot. so for me this game sucks cause i can't hit shit without that dam dot! What were they thinking ? they could have at least gave the option to turn on or off that feature for old farts like me. What a waste of download space and time. I love sniping games but at age 52 with slow reflexes and bad eyesight this game is just to hard for me. Thanks for the review though. P.S. i hope i'm just not missing that feature somewhere but every video i watch i see no one with that dot.
You are correct, there is no magic dot that shows impact point given distance and wind in this iteration of the game. Personally, I appreciate that. The animated bullet-path alone seems pretty overpowered for a game that's supposed to be about sniping rather than arcade action. P.S. 52 isn't old!
What problem are you having with key binding? My experience with this game is that it's broken, so best to use the default. It is possible that it has been fixed in a patch, as I haven't tried rebinding since version 1.02
Awful game!!! You get killed quickly and ran out of Sniper bullets. So many enemies with no one to help you!!! No where to go to top up Sniper bullets ammunition!!! Waste of money buying this game. Impossible to fully complete this game and the Map is very poor!!! 😢
Sounds like you need to practice stealth and ammunition management. Running around spraying lead is not a viable strategy like it is in shooters like The Division.
I just got this on steam for my PC (i know a little late). I completed the contract tasks. However, when i complete all the contracts and then do the last "exfiltration", the gamewon't end and one of the contracts becomes unhighlighted as if not been done. So for example, last time i did every contract., but then the first contract "Hack the electronic notebook" became umarked even though i did it. So i bring the map up, the indicator for that contract doesn't show up because its been done, but the narrator tells me to go to the next task and the base were the notebook would be is highlighted with the blue square. But when i go back there, there is no notebook. So i am just stuck in that map. Am i doing something wrong. Do all the extra challenges have to be completed as well, are they compulsory? I don't understand what i am doing wrong.
or a little early, it's coming free to Epic Games next week... I didn't run into that problem; but no, you definitely don't need to complete all of the challenges. Is that Sibirskaya-7 Junction that is giving you troubles? Looking back at my save, I never completed the final challenge (in under 25 minutes) and I definitely exfiltrated, got credit for the contract, and received the Steam achievement.

I believe you are referring to the Weapon Wheel, see the key binding at 3:15 and I explain it at 28:20. Hold down the middle mouse wheel to access.

I just got this on steam for my PC (i know a little late). I completed the contract tasks. However, when i complete all the contracts and then do the last "exfiltration", the gamewon't end and one of the contracts becomes unhighlighted as if not been done. So for example, last time i did every contract., but then the first contract "Hack the electronic notebook" became umarked even though i did it. So i bring the map up, the indicator for that contract doesn't show up because its been done, but the narrator tells me to go to the next task and the base were the notebook would be is highlighted with the blue square. But when i go back there, there is no notebook. So i am just stuck in that map. Am i doing something wrong. Do all the extra challenges have to be completed as well, are they compulsory? I don't understand what i am doing wrong.

I didn't run into that problem; but no, you definitely don't need to complete all of the challenges. Is that Sibirskaya-7 Junction that is giving you troubles? Looking back at my save, I never completed the final challenge (in under 25 minutes) and I definitely exfiltrated, got credit for the contract, and received the Steam achievement.
