I know this update was about apple, I just traded in my s22 for a s24 ultra. It's like i went to heaven. My old phone had terrible battery life and would overheat. I was going to switch from Samsung to apple, but because of your experience with s24 ultra I stayed with Samsung and I'm so glad I did. Thanks for the advice.
My battery life is probably not a fair comparison since I spend 80-90% of my day on WiFi. At home I'm on WiFi because there's no cell signal and I work in a machine shop that's about the size of a department store with poor cell signal in the building so I'm on WiFi there too. That only leaves the 1.5 hour round trip to work on cellular data.
I can tell you why the battery life was so great on the 13 series. This was right before Apple increased the total nit output on their displays. If memory serves me correctly the screens topped out at 1.2 nits. Love it or hate it. That's amazing for battery life, terrible for outdoor usage.
I thought about it a little more and it made sense as to why apple kept the same screen the same with just a minor bump in screen size. They knew they if they increased the resolutions or nits their battery life would take a hit. love apple or hate them. This is typical of something they have always done. Radical changes to their phones come once ever generation follow by small iterations on that generational phone.
I bought the 16 pro max. I am BLOWN away by how great the battery is. The screen is HUGE I am in love with this phone. Granted I came from a 8 plus because I didn’t like the notch or island. But seriously this phone is awesome!
@@TechOdyssey me with 13 pro max with offroad hike navigation i kill the battery by 14 oclock and it will charge slow because phone warm / hot how about screen diming at sun?
Adam...do you always charge to 100%? I started charging to 80% on my S24 Ultra and have been charging to 80% so far on the 16 Pro Max. Thoughts on charging to full vs 80%?
It doesn't matter what you charge too. Your battery life only has so many charge cycles. Only charging to 80% doesn't add or remove charge cycles. What matters more is heat. Heat can degrade your battery.
I have the 15 pro and I only have 395 charge cycles I charge to 80% all the time and my battery health is 92%. The manufacture date is July 2023 first use is September 2023 so only a year old and at 92% only a year old and the battery degrades that fast is crazy this is why I will never buy an electric car.
@@jesses6697395 charging cycles for a year is more than average. You’re basically draining more than 100% of your battery per day. I have 14 pro max, just over 1 year, still on 100%. If you heat your phone often, the battery will degrade faster and that’s the only real thing that matters. I also never fully charge to 100%, usually between 80-90%. Additionally, if you play games on your phone, say goodbye to battery :)
I got this phone today because I wasn’t happy with the black 16 Plus. So far, I’m not that impressed. I tried the 15 Pro Max earlier, and while it was okay, I ended up hating it because it got hot after taking just a few pictures, which was really frustrating. Now I’m giving this phone a chance to see how it holds up. If it doesn’t perform well within a week or so, I might go back to the 16 Plus, maybe in teal or blue, since I really want a phone with good battery life.
That actually doesn't increase the life expectancy of your battery. Your battery only has so many charge cycles. When you use a total of 100% that is one charge cycle. So if you use 50% today and 50% tomorrow that's no different than using 100% all at once. Whether you charge it up to 80 or 100% doesn't matter at all.
Recently got the 16 pro max and holy crap the the battery is insane. Had a heavy use day during school for 9 hours. By the time I left my house, my battery was at 85%, and by the time I got on the bus to head home, it still had like 30% left. If your considering a good battery phone, the 16 pro max is top notch
@TEchArenaPhone I see your point, but I only chose the pro max because it satisfies my needs, as the faster usb c transfer for heavy school work is great, and I use the camera a lot nowadays, and the pro cameras satisfy my needs
Every time I hear you say you’re having issues with the 15pm I’m like I don’t have these issues . No heat issues and I use it 11 hrs a day taking pictures outside for my job . The battery is actually better now with ios18 🤷🏻♂️ have you ever swapped that 15pm for another one ?
Same here, zero issues and I love this phone. But my friend had heating problems when using the camera in the sun whilst on holiday and also when charging. I have the 15 pro max and he has the 15 pro.
I just watched the Tech Chap recently, and he did a battery test with all the top phones and the One Plus 12 came out only half an hour behind the iPhone Pro Max (which came in third), which is incredible for the price. And the One Plus 12 has faster charging speeds and a 120hz. My 256GB 12GB ram version came out to $685.74 after a coupon and a recycling deal for my old phone, which knocked off $150.00.
You made a smart choice and saved alot of money, id take a faster charging, 120hz screen over the overpriced Iphone 16 pro max anyday. Paying $2000 for a phone is nuts these days.

@@Lanshyy Because they've never tried it, since the only way you can't tell the difference is if you're quite old or have any sort of visual difficulties. If I pay 800$ for a phone that only has 60hz, while others that cost 30% of that have 120hz, I'd feel absolutely scammed.
@@AxelKjolhede Or maybe its that you want to feel this way. In my opinion people are just used to bitch about apple because they have different device. Psychologicaly they need some confirmation that the thing they bough is good. Thats when fanboys of samsung or apple join youtube comment sections. You would feel scammed by not having 120 - ok. Others would feel scammed by Google being forced to buy drive plan when storage is full to be able to still receive emails. And others would feel scammed that many features of new Samsung phones are not implemented to past models. And all that is just personal. But for many all these fancy numbers are just numbers. Just like weight of the phone being different by 10g or bezels being smaller by 1mm... I had S23U and tbh I decreased screen settings to compromise for better battery time. Its all personal
What they need to change on android, especially samsung is the the orientation of the battery icon. From vertical to horizontal and a tad bigger like iPhone. I'm a UX designer, and the way the battery visually reads at a glance is 70 percent looks like 50 percent. It mentally gives you the impression that you have less battery life than you really have. I hope that's just because of the first day and second day because I wasn't even really using it that that much and the battery was dropping. So I hope it gets better and thanks for this video
same problem. my old 13 fully charged left over night with airplane mode is still a 100% when waking up. my 16 pro max 99%.. it drains even faster when using apps..
Battery is freaking amazing! Told you so
It’s very good
My battery life is probably not a fair comparison since I spend 80-90% of my day on WiFi.
Yay!!!! More positive/Neutral iPhone coverage. I love my 16 pro Max so far, I will admit it might be too big the 15 pro Max was damn near perfect.
Awesome news for iPhone users!! Thanks for this informative video!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for watching!
I bought the 16 pro max. I am BLOWN away by how great the battery is. The screen is HUGE I am in love with this phone. Granted I came from a 8 plus because I didn’t like the notch or island. But seriously this phone is awesome!
How much screen time before battery dies
Thank you for your service
You always tell it like it is!
I try anyway
@@TechOdyssey me with 13 pro max with offroad hike navigation i kill the battery by 14 oclock and it will charge slow because phone warm / hot
how about screen diming at sun?
Adam...do you always charge to 100%? I started charging to 80% on my S24 Ultra and have been charging to 80% so far on the 16 Pro Max. Thoughts on charging to full vs 80%?
It doesn't matter what you charge too. Your battery life only has so many charge cycles. Only charging to 80% doesn't add or remove charge cycles. What matters more is heat. Heat can degrade your battery.
Ok interesting. No issues with heat on the 16 Pro Max. Didn’t have any heat issues on my S24 Ultra either. Good to know. Thanks.
Wrong.@@camonly849
I got this phone today because I wasn’t happy with the black 16 Plus. So far, I’m not that impressed. I tried the 15 Pro Max earlier, and while it was okay, I ended up hating it because it got hot after taking just a few pictures, which was really frustrating. Now I’m giving this phone a chance to see how it holds up. If it doesn’t perform well within a week or so, I might go back to the 16 Plus, maybe in teal or blue, since I really want a phone with good battery life.
The 16 PM battery is better than the 16+
@@armeliiito no its trash compared to the 16+ I tested both. the 16pm consumes much more battery because of its 120hz
Thank you for your service. Sorry to hear about your injury. I enjoy your channel very much. Truth and honesty.
When I first got my S24 Ultra battery life was amazing after the updates it went down hill.
I feel like my battery life has really increased after this update on my s24u. It's stellar.
Set battery limit to 80% to preserve battery health. Still at 100% after one year of use iPhone 15 ProMax.
@@camonly849Yes it does 😂
@@camonly849 My battery health states otherwise.
80% limit didn't helped. after 1 year I have 92%, 15PM

It's such a Pleasure to watch your videos man, Love your interaction. Respect
We still don’t know if that battery is going to degrade as fast yet. For all we know, it’s going to be 87% within a year again.
14 pro max battery degraded much faster than the 13 pro max.
again adam, thankyou for your service in the arirforce, i am sure you were awesome in your day. and still awesome. a great tech reviewer
@TEchArenaPhone I see your point, but I only chose the pro max because it satisfies my needs, as the faster usb c transfer for heavy school work is great, and I use the camera a lot nowadays, and the pro cameras satisfy my needs
no not for me
I have the 13 pro max and I like it a lot.
The best thing about the 16 PM so far is that it doesn't get hot doing regular things, the 15 pro Max would be on fire 5 minutes after plugging it in.
Of course its the best battery life, it just came out. Let's give it 6 to 8 months then we'll see how the battery measures up
U can also go to last 10 days, and click on every single day. It will show how much bettery was used and the screen on and off time for that 24 hrs
Did you order the 16pro non max?…. I love your take on the non gigantic sized phones
I did. Switching to it tomorrow.
I've got 13.5 hrs off my 15 pro max I've got screen shot to prove it
Every time I hear you say you’re having issues with the 15pm I’m like I don’t have these issues .
The iPhone processing is adaptive in the battery life and health active. It runs algorithms to learn your life cycle and phone usage.
With 18.7% extra pixels, S-pen, multitasking, ~2x RAM for AI ... (all missing on iPhone), the Galaxy S23 Ultra is outstanding. ~2y & 98% battery health (>20-80% charge cycles ~1/day. heavy use, 8K video, 522 apps on the phone
Truth truly hurts😂
Mind you Apples 4k video is better same as the battery but whatever makes you feel better under apple video comments
And Apple still can't put 120hz screens in all of their models 😂
Mainly because most ppl dont care.
They are on the Pros.
@@Lanshyy Because they've never tried it, since the only way you can't tell the difference is if you're quite old or have any sort of visual difficulties. If I pay 800$ for a phone that only has 60hz, while others that cost 30% of that have 120hz, I'd feel absolutely scammed.
my i pad is 60 herts and works fine, not quite as smooth as 120 but most people wouldn't notice
I love your personality man
What they need to change on android, especially samsung is the the orientation of the battery icon. From vertical to horizontal and a tad bigger like iPhone. I'm a UX designer, and the way the battery visually reads at a glance is 70 percent looks like 50 percent. It mentally gives you the impression that you have less battery life than you really have. And it runs down faster than it really does.
Battery is very good for me on 16 pro max!
Glad to hear it

This is potentially good news. The iPhone battery has been not that good since the iPhone 13 ProMax on iOS15. Be good if they can get back to where it was or maybe, just maybe, better.
Also an additional tidbit, I don’t know what magic is in this phone but putting low power mode on while streaming video the endurance feels to almost double, this phone appears to be a lot more efficient in low power mode than my old iPhone 14 Pro Max
Thanks for your service bro
You bet
One of the reasons I am still holding my 13PM is the battery😅
I’ve only had the phone since Friday so it’s hard to say. On the other hand, I’ve had the ultra watch since it came out and it’s still at 100% battery health, now that’s crazy and I do top it off daily and have never used it til it shut off because I’d have to let it go 3 days more than likely to do that. Not sure what my battery health was on my 15 pro max before I gave it to my dad
The battery is still learning your usage, and optimising.
Is it the lighting? Or you are just glowing...❤
Who knows
I was thinking the same thing. This one’s a lot more vibrant. Not a bad thing at all.
I don't leave home without a power bank. I have no battery issues.

That’s good to hear about the battery, I’m not in the market nut my 15 pro max is not great it’s ok but not great. I Agee the 13 pro max was the best battery I ever had. As far as the jackass with the treadmill remark goes, sorry you had to read that crap.
I watched that battery test & it’s being rumored he had the s24u on deep sleep mode.
13 Pro Max is what I'm still using to this day & the battery health is 90%. I really can't complain about it, although I'm thinking about trading it in for the 16PM
Those sot’s only works for wifi. Here in asia where a lot of people use mobile data it’ll probably just last like 4 hrs. No phone is going to last 8 to nine hrs on 5g
That's definitely wrong..my old S23U did last that long while out and about. I only dropped about 10% an hour which would give me 9-10 hours of sot.
you gotta think of it this way. if a new 13 pro max was doing what the 16 is doing rn with the chip and battery it has it would be dying way faster
Not really. The new chip is much smaller and uses less energy to create the same power.
Are you using only wifi?
Nope WiFi and 5G
the 16 Pro max is rocking a 4,685 Mah battery the best battery life ever I got gold color one in the 1TB I'm enjoying every minute of it I enjoyed the video
This phone has the best battery life since the 13 pro max which is the last pro iPhone with a premium feel to have insane battery life
Which hexagon lights do you use in your background? Did you use the sticky tape that came with it? Did you see any issue of it popping out after few weeks?

@@TechOdysseyLooking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Pro Sind enough had the 15 Pro last year. People keep saying it’s on par with the 15 Pro Max…Curious to hear if that’s true
Why will it hurt you. If you are a tech enthusiast and you don't take sides (like you often call yourself), you'll just pronounce the verdict. I stopped following some of your videos when you started spewing Apple hatred. It's not your company, why do you care. You should say what is technically right and move on. I use S24, but what Apple has got is great eco system. People often just do iPhone and say it is dumb. Just take for example the new H2 chip in Airpods. You can take phone calls, without touching your phone. I use Samsung ultra watch. All the gestures are a 100% copy from Apple. But that too, they lag. Yes, they carry a lag. None of you guys say it and that's why I have lost trust in YT reviewers, except for MKBHD and Dave2D.
He should say whatever he likes, it's his channel. He can read Middle-English poems all day if it tickles his fancy. I do appreciate a bit of neutrality, but I don't need one central channel on TH-cam that just reads the spec sheets, either. Looks like we do indeed have more than one channel on this platform, and you even managed to find several you like. Seems to work as intended for everyone involved if you just do your part and ignore this one.
@@Noodles.FreeUkraine I certainly ignore the pieces I find incorrect. I can’t control what he can say or what he can’t and neither do I have a need for it. This prejudiced language is a major reason YT reviewers loose subscribers and why there are stand outs in the space. More a feedback for Adam with complete respect to his likes and dislikes!!
@@krishind99 Ok, gotcha. Constructive feedback is important. That said, it's an unfortunate fact of our times that the most outrageous haters and clickbaiters receive the most traffic, so I'm not convinced that he'd profit much-considering that he's not all too biased in the first place.
And even if he were unbiased to a T, many folks would still hate on him if he reported on a downside on their favorite platform and vice versa. You just can't win this.
It may be different for channels like MKBHD and Dave2D, but they've also been around since the Mesozoic and have a ginormous following.
