But instead she started from a deeper level, studying Teng’s singing skills and vocalization methods, which, after years of research, have been thoroughly drilled into her, and now can be freely applied by her as part of her own singing skills, and there is no need to deliberately imitate Teng.
Teresa Teng’s third brother also said that Chen Jia’s own voice was close to that of Teresa Teng, and she did not deliberately imitate Teng’s voice. If she did, she could only sing a few songs similarly, and it was impossible to sing so many songs so close.
In an interview in New York in May 2017, Chen Jia said that her singing is a synthesis of the singing skills and music knowledge she learned from Teresa Teng, her choir conductor and her piano teacher, not simply imitating Teng.
In November of the same year, Chen Jia said on Changzhou Radio in China that she did not listen to Teresa Teng’s songs anymore. She explained that if she twisted herself to deliberately imitate others, she would not sing naturally and would not sing well. She now sings only on the basis of her own feelings of the song.
In the evening of October 20, 2021 on Douyin Live, a fan asked Chen Jia to use Teresa Teng's voice to sing pop songs. Chen Jia replied that she could only use her own voice to sing Teresa Teng's songs and pop songs.

In a 2015 BTV《 我家有明星》TV show titled "我怎能離開你", Chen Jia said: Teresa Teng is her lifelong hobby, but it is certainly not her only pursuit.
Chen Jia is regarded by many as the best successor to Teresa Teng, but she has never regarded herself as such because her ambitions, strengths and actions are more than just being that.

(5) Chen Jia Has Achieved Quite Good Results in Her Singing Career
Although Chen Jia is not a big hit, yet she has over 30 original songs, and has performed in mainland China, HK, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and USA. She dubbed and sang for virtual Teresa Teng in the Jiangsu Satellite Television 2022 New Year's Eve Gala, and sang an interlude for a Chaoshan (a Chinese dialect) movie. To date (Feb. 28, 2022) she has held nearly 100 solo concerts on tour and released a total of 12 solo albums. She is highly praised by audiophiles and is ranked among the top most popular singers in the Chinese audiophile music scene, and her albums won many awards, including the "Best Singer of the Year Award in 2017".
