  • Plasma is the fourth state of matter. We normally think of three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. For a common element, water, these three states are ice, water and steam. This video explains the physics of plasma and how the plasma arc cuts the metal workpiece by melting it, and blowing away the molten metal.

This is the best video on TH-cam on the explanation behind a plasma torch.

The illustration is good as shown in video, but since plasma is a superheated gas created by static arc between the nozzle metallic tip and and work piece in positive ground piece, the symbol flame must be replaced with a lightning symbol for clear understanding of the electrical path.

hi is there someone who wants to explain how sensitivity in plasma arc works ,what couses the torch to lift up when you activate the sensor is the speed ?the volts? i will realy appreciate if you respond tnks.

I know next to nothing about plasma cutting but I'll give you my best answer. The touch lfting up is probably the gas pushing against the surface. Emf causes the arc to develope. The difference in electrons and the fact that the atoms seek to be neutral cause it to arc. The arc is just the visual display of quadrillions of electrons seeking to neutralize the material you are cutting.

@@codystone2252 tnx for the answer îs an old comment i find out from elswere îs the arc voltage increasing the torch get's more stif, senzitive and the rection is faster

It’s the air pressure coming from the nozzle, that’s all it is.

Fun fact about plasma. If you cut a grape in half, but just barely leaving it connected, you put it in the microwave on high and turn it on, that bitch will make plasma. Just a regular ass seedless grape. It's amazing

can you remove energy from matter... yes...from air=refrigeration..friction from air on metal, from liquid...freezer...to solid... from solid..atomic...lasers frozen atoms...could you also use gravitational waves to solidify atoms?

hoyl shit i never thought of that! i think you are correct! It would have to be cause after the big bang it required a massive cooldown so atoms could form.
