The only knife I figured this year, oddly enough, was a large pyrite light. I qc’d it myself and was surprisingly tempted to keep it missing lol. That says a lot considering my usual price range is the $400-1000 range.
Pyrite button lock . I got the CJRB for my brother the mini for my wife and I go tag points so I got one . My wife uses hers already and loves it , it is really small for my hands but she loves it . I highly recommend it for a great easy to use no nonsense getting used to flicking in a crossbar lock they press and the blade goes in. Great video buddy !
Very good list. When I am recommending to non-knife folks my list usually goes... (Back flipper)- Kershaw Oso Sweet or Conduit or Atmos Sencut Neches (most recommended) Kizer Swedge Miguron Talism or Perism Olitans G040 (Thumb stud)- Ontario Rat ll Qsp Parrot or Canary Kizer Original (Dual deployment)- Sencut Errant Sencut Fritch Sencut Scepter Kubey Belus
The only knife I gifted this year, oddly enough, was a large pyrite light. I qc’d it myself and was surprisingly tempted to keep it lol. That says a lot considering my usual price range is the $400-1000 range. Edit: the deka is a much better value and I loved my v2 in magnacut. But if you’re looking to BUILD a knife, the bugout, 740, pm2 or para 3 are the ways to go. Rockscale, original goat, mxg ……. The options are limitless
Think I’d have to go with the Pyrite Light this year. I may have gotten lucky, but the one have had better action and button lock than some I have that cost twice as much.
The Launch 16 in M4 and Launch 15 in Magnacut are arguably better values, though the blade shapes may not be as functional and easy to maintain for some. Nevertheless, I thought it was worth mentioning these other members of the Launch series as they are also great as high value side opening automatics. I also agree about the Zizzle package! Hopefully they will be in stock as everyone else with FOMO is chasing a garbage Ozark and Swisstech. Great list and really useful!
Civivi makes their Elementum with a Sheepsfoot blade. While it's certainly not an uncommon blade style, I think the Sheepsfoot is unique looking enough to start winning over the interest of a non-knife person.
If you ever let a non knife person use a knife... the problem is not deploying the knife... mostly the confusion for them is returning the blade into the handle. Not that simple or obvious in my experience. Or maybe i need to find some smarter friends.. lol😂
Non knife people like slip joints because they won’t cut themselves trying to figure out how to close (unlock) it. My wife got cut bad unlocking a knife. No drop shutty knives, bad idea. Two hand closing style is good. But all this depends on who you are gifting it to and their familiarity with pocket knives. Get grandma a sod buster and grandpa might like what you suggest, for example.
Had many, many Kershaws over the years, but when it comes to Chinese made budget knives, Civivi, Sencut, CJRB, Vosteed, Kizer and others are a better value these days.
I got my brother a qsp penguin in d2 and blue demin micarta I think he's gonna like it and use it a lot. Good list Wayne.

Nice list Wayne. Gifted several knives over the years but they were to knife people. Thanks for the video!

The Corgi is a great beginner knife. Would love if they made a higher end version too.

Skip the tweezers and pick and go with the Swiss tech wurdig. GREAT knife for the money. (29$ Walmart)

I feel like Kershaw should have some representation here.

My dogs name is: Zizzle P. Sanchez. 😂
Spyderco for non knife people!? What do you gift knife people then?
If you can’t show an adult how to use a flipper and button lock without a trip to the ER, maybe you should buy them something else.
The best present for non-knife people would be a SAK or a traditional folding knife. I don't agree with you on this point.
