Gone here three times and I love it! This was my first major water park and probably my only. My favorite ride is either Master Blaster or Dragon’s Revenge. I also love the surf simulator.
Oh and btw, on some tube rides, you end up getting stuck because the current is on one side and you go over lil bumps and you go back. might want to get up and move yourself manually. and pick up your butt because you might hit it on low floors and might scrape it
Thanks SO much for this video! I used to go to Schlitterbaun in the early 80s, when it was down the street from Bavarian Village, and right next to Landa Park resorts. The only rides were four chute rides down out of a tall tower, which you rode on slick mats, and a single tube ride, which the video shows exiting into the giant pool. Back then, that pool was a uniform 15 feet deep, and I was not a strong swimmer, so it always scared the crap out of me to tumble into that pool. They've obviously filled it in. The hot-tub area with the bar was also added early on.
Oh, P.S. You mentioned the exit from the tube ride to the Comal being closed. That made me laugh so hard. Dude, the "hillside" tube ride exit into the Comal was closed in the early 80s when I was going there. I think it's *always* been closed, and they just never put up a permanent barricade.
@@bozimmerman Thanks for watching. Hillside exits into the large pool. Raging River is the one that dumps into the Comal. I have taken this plunge into and down the Comal more than once, and others on this thread have stated that it re-opened later that summer (2019).
I love schlitterbahn i always go there every summer my favourite part its the waves its not like other water parks waves its much bigger and much funner
Omg...I lived in New Braunfels Texas. It was awesome. I remember going to Schlitterbahn. I remember that my favorite part was the pirate ship. I loved the lazy river, but the big gushers that shot water kinda scared me. The black night took forever, and I wound up bailing when I got to the top. New Braunfels was my home. Unfortunately, we moved away from Texas to the middle of the country. I recommend the Dragons one. It's been a while since Texas, but I remember there being a dragon ride.
If some people wonder why the water looks dirty on some of the rides, it's because the original rides used water which was pumped from the river and returned to the river.
Went to Schlitterbahn this week and it doesn't seem like Cedar Fair has changed too much thankfully. The tube chute that empties into the Comal river is still technically operable but it requires a lot of staff so they usually keep it closed. I was fortunate enough to experience it opened last year and I really think they should prioritize keeping it open as it was my favorite part of the day. I do also think they are somewhat limiting capacity on the chutes, as I didn't see anything remotely similar to what was shown at 17:35, and I went on a very busy day.
If the line is started at the bottom when you get to the top line (cuz the line is broke into 2 parts) is a 45 min line to get on the ride. Worth it cuz as you seen you get soaked in line at the top line. So on the nice 100 degree days in TX you stay a little cooled down.
My family has gone to schlitterbahn every year since my mom was younger! And I recommend Schlitterbahn for a vacation because every year holds fun and excitement!
Nevaeh Ives Yes it’s was so fun! I just got back. The lazy river ride are the best because in some parts there are little drops and it’s slashes you around and makes you go fast! The Congo river was open when I went and it was super fun as well. It’s looks boring at first but when you go to the part that’s like a mining theme there’s a huge drop and it’s soooo fun! The only bad thing is you have to wait a long time in the rides. Probably anywhere from 20-30 minutes but it goes by kinda fast for me :)
I am 50 and I grew up going to this park. My fav was the drop into the river at the end of the tube shoot. I hope Cedar Fair does not close that down, it made this water park so unique.
You’re correct! One of the first scenes of the movie sees the main character Juni meeting with a young Selena Gomez in front of Blastenhoff tower. She hires him to find out why all of the water from the park has gone missing
I think it has a lot to do with the river level since it dumps into the Comal. At least that is what someone at the park said to me. Could just be Maintaince issues.
@@davidmichael5573 that could be it. I also think since it has animatronics they tend to break down alot. I remember back in the day they kept shutting it down for that. Not to mention people stealing things from the ride.
You obviously aren't from Texas by starting with the East section. Sometimes we don't even go to the East section. Schlitterbahn is all about the toob chutes on the original park, or west section and it's just paradise.

I don’t remember there being any of those. Also I only got to go to the East side. I was not allowed to go to the West side as these were all for school trips.
was there 24 years ago and had a ball. im 62 now . can all this excitement still be safe for a senior citizen? I love the lazy river best. its like white water rafting
I worked there and I met a man that was around 60 with his grand daughter so I assume your probably good, I wouldn’t recommend any of the big slides tho

I just went yesterday to Schlitterbahn and a lot of these rides I didn’t see especially on the Blastenhoff side. I usually see the surf ride but didn’t see it this year. Some rides in the main park that I loved to ride were under construction or disassembled never to be seen again. I hope that’s not the case with what you said about new ownership.
The one time I went with a date and three kids (1995). The free parking was in an unsupervised lot and after seeing the admission prices , we left. I have never been back since.
They did make there own water slides tubes,etc..at a nearby company named NBG which the Henrie family owned ..well when they owned schlitterbahn...but now that company is now defunct..(NBG)That being said I believe cedar fair is ordering everything..I could be wrong but I'm an employee and that s what I've come to see so far..they are planning on many new concepts but probably not till next year since we're barely coming out the pandemic this season..so I'm guessing next year we will see some new stuff..maybe more peanuts/Snoopy advertising like they have in there other parks..But I will say that I really enjoy working for cedar fair.

I wish you would’ve gone on the lazy river with waves! That’s one of my favorite things there, it’s the one underneath the mater blaster!
Right, I forget to ride that when I had the action camera with me.
