"I never doubted him, I put everything into this, to get this kid started" Powerful stuff from a real father, for a lot of us kids that didn't have one around.
Listening to Old Man keeping his kids safe at home to party, and a million kids around 24/7 reminded me of how I did exact same to. Protect my 3. Love the channel, really different from most TH-cam B. S.. TY
Touching and truely down to earth story Mr Hoskins. I first wondered how this channel would run its course. But I'm seeing, as a man with some history under him, You'll do ok on this TH-cam thing. Don't forget. This isn't all about Billy. Consider the Prequel to your days racing also. I'm thinking this story is far from told yet. Damn fine channel so far tho.
Investing in your kids is worth more than anything. I too have my kid in jrs right now. She is doing awesome and I'd spend every dollar to watch her smile and get excited.
The hardest job in the world is raising your children and keep them pointed in the direction in life. It’s an awesome story that so many of us can relate to and we all do all we can for our children and I applaud you for taking that leap to protect your boys. God bless you and your family Bill. Wish you all the success and happiness you all deserve 👍👍👍
Bill ,I love how you tell stories ,it reminds me so much of listening to my grandad years ago . You and the boys have the best channels on youtube . You can just hear how honest and sincere you feel in your heart about everything. Thanks for the awesome story and GOD BLESS YOU .
You know, I have watched every video of SRC and the SRC Garage. This one here rates right up there as one of my top favorites. Thank you for sharing these stories, hell, thank you for serving us fellow racers and gear heads with these moments of your families life. These are trying times we are all in and to have someone like yourself (and Billy) share and serve others like you have, they are golden. Eagerly awaiting for part 2 with hopes of a part 3,4,5 and on and on. Thank you!
Only about 4 mins in and already feel the need to say it's awesome what you guys do as a family, the dynamic between you all, and the love that's clearly there. Good on you guys, always look forward to more from y'all. -edit Hahahahaha Billy tried for that "I was only like 12 years old." excuse and pops was having none of it!
Ol Man, my mother was the same way growing up. She'd rather us home "partying" safely, than out god knows where doing god knows what. I learned alot from those days. You a amazing man, and I look forward to learning more from you. God bless
I love the story of the truck, the constant growth, the success of the truck and the channels, and the downhome grassroots atmosphere. Keep doing your thing guys 💪🙏
*now that was refreshing to learn that people still care about their town's well being. I have 5 boys and replaced a lot of lawn and pulled a lot of trucks out of the field, Please keep the channels going love the content and thank you for taking the time to do this
Because of my grandparents and parents I'm involved with racing. That's all my family ever did. Kept me out of trouble. My parents knew where I was and I made many many friends that I never would have ever met because of racing. Our family was involved with Midgets, Sprint cars. You did the right thing. I had many memories with my father. He passed away at 44 and never got to see me win a championship.. it's the only regret I have. Enjoy your kids and enjoy everything about racing. Memories Last a lifetime. I really enjoy your kids and your channels. And Molly she's quite the racer. Good Luck 🏁🏁🏁
It’s crazy how your giving me a point of view on why my parents are the way they are me and my siblings, always wandered what there attentions were 😂I’ve been into racing for almost all my life, it’s a hobby that my dad shared with us at a very young age. I’m 17 and just gotten my first motor, a lil 388 stroker, I’ve been working my ass off in school, getting good grades, finishing all my work just so I could go outside and fuck with it and do little things. All I need now is to figure out what body to put it in, can’t wait to feel it on the streets, and hopefully, one day build something like Billy’s, running in the 9’s 😂 I appreciate this video man🔥 keep up the content✊🏽
My parents did the EXACT same thing for me when i was growing up. You definitely made their childhood great man. You are a great father and an amazing family my dude! Good on you for keeping up the grind and telling us this story
BILLY, DAD LUV'S U, U HAVE SURVIVED UR CRAZINESS. I'M 20 YRS. ON UR DAD & I WENT THREW THE SAME WITH MY DAUGHTER. WHEN THE FRIENDS GOT OLDER & STARTED HAVIN THEIR OWN KID'S. 1 ASKED ME. Mr. Hoskins (old man), I have watched just about every one of yours and billys videos and i got to say that it is on honor just to watch your videos and you sir are a great man and the boys are very lucky to have you as there father. The things you do for your family and crew shows the perfect example of a loving father, husband and friend. i have recently added 1 more thing to my bucket list and that is to be able to meet all of youaand spend the day at the track. i also grew up with a wounderful father that was involved in racing cars. I also wanted to thank you for being you..
i watch this every so often as i raise my boys . i am a s10 guy . the s15 was my first love . i have had 2 v8 s10 truck so far . its a love of the truck and the racing
Hey old man, thanks for life advice to change my sons life. Family full of misfits and trouble, I feel confident in steering him the right way with the help of your family!
I absolutely love your videos. I love the kids as well with all the racing but this is a great channel to relax and listen to the “old man’s” stories, knowledge, and experience.
My father used mechanics and racing to keep me out of trouble when i was young. He is old now and i am entering my 50s soon. They are some of mine and most cherished moments. I love watching the channel and how true to life and down to earth you are.
Hi Billy hi old man hi Tommy. My names Adam I'm from wichita ks I wanted to say I love your guys channels I love hearing your guys stories and watching you hang out with your dad. The stuff you put on your channels are top notch. Be safe have fun and don't grow up to fast
Very cool story. I’m about your ago (52). I have to grown boys 27 and 25. Our house was like your house when they was in high school. I got my boys in motorcycles and diesel trucks. My oldest son turned into one of the best Diesel guys in Southeastern Indiana. My younger son joined the Marine Corps 2 weeks out of high school. He went Recon Marine. He turned into a real badass. Both my sons turned into great men because of the choices I made. I can see the respect your boys have for you, because my sons look at me the same way. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad... Great job dad...
Your good man I grew up with wild family drugs drinking I did 7 days in jail when I was 18 when I turn 20 all I did was lay block pour concrete thin night party .Got pills real bad drinking cocaine caught ccw at age 20 got put on probation thin few months latter still parties every night woman drugs drinking thin ended up messing up real good caught vialant crime caught 4 half to 7 years turn 21 in prison didn't get out to I was 27 felt like I was in night mare I never did no time besides 7 days.I didn't want live before I caught my prison case I had my uncle take me to nut ward try get help because I was going shoot myself they turn me away would not take me.So few days later I ended up with prison case.If I had someone to talk to like you things been different I became cop like I said all time growing up just figure I share little I been home since 2007 I'm 41 prison did wake me up but not help I needed I needed mental help but I didn't know that to after all bad happen much love to you guys if it was not for lord Jesus Christ I would not be here keep putting out video I love watch you guys look forward to it race hard be safe ...lee🙏
Looking at how calm and collected Billy is nowadays, you’d never think he was a wild child, but the responsibilities of a truck with that much power definitely grew him up!
@@theoldmansgarage same way with Rail cars, (trains) it’s all I know, been working at a family owned repair facility since 93’ working for your family can often times be very challenging, but when you grow up and that’s all you know, what do you do...
@@theoldmansgarage much respect for how you raised them boys, and still! I laughed so hard when Tommy said that ass chewing he got was well deserved when he was late for work lol it’ll make him a better man in the long run tho! Keep up the hard work Bill
I can tell you since literly being engulfed in a gas fire in front of my son while building his truck your channel and sharing your family has been a inspiration in my desire to get my kid into his first truck to drive to school and race on the weekends. Im not sure where id personally be if not for yous taking me into your lifes. Be safe this yr. God bless you all. With love out of beardmore on Canada. Andy Cory
Listen man I just wanna say, Im 24 years old and lost my dad almost 10 years ago. Listenin to you talk about your boys brings a tear to my eye, knowing my dad was the same exact way! Though he didn't get me into racing, he did get me into cars and did everything he could for me, and I'll forever be greatful to him for sharing his passion with me. Just started turning his old truck into a street truck! Big single 408 is the plan. That being said, Billy and you may but heads but I can guarantee whether he shows it or not he's greatful for the things you've done for him and the bond that grew from it. Once my dads truck is done it'll be on the streets, and hopefully one day we'll end up lined up next to eachother. Keep up the great content man!
Best video yet. I had tears during the stories of burnouts, nitrous purges, and broking motors. The thing I love most about your channel is how obvious the depth of the relationship you and your sons have. I hope my sone and I can meet y'all one day at an event.
You are an incredible father. Much like my own. Grateful for people like you that actually value life and teach their youngins to be men. Good for you Sir.
This is what i love about this channel real people with a real story its america at its best, Your one hell of a father to your kids need a hell of a lot more examples like this.
Me and you are the same when it comes to our kids. Our house was the house to come to and that was the way me and my wife wanted it. We knew what they were doing and we could keep a eye on them. Great content. I’ve been binge watching all your videos. Keep up the great work.
Man I love your channel, it reminds me of my life in general and we always learn something, it's honest and real, entertaining, and knowledgeable. You rock old man keep up the good work sir
I have a 1992 s10 4.3 5 speed with 302,000 miles teal green. Smokes when I start it but runs like a little rocket. Planning on getting the engine rebuilt next month. Love my little green machine.
Much respect for allowing them to be kids and still be a parent....it was all worth it....Billy seems to be a great kid....keep up the good hard work old man
Love the videos and the channels in the family. I wish we lived closer to a drag strip when I was younger and even now. I got into circle track racing and had a fun time but going up to Sanair and seeing Top Fuel run put a dream in my head. I never got to pursue drag racing after becoming disabled at 24 years old. Thank you for the content.
Look now bill you never gave up to keep your kids out of trouble.. look at them and you now… god took care of them and blessed y’all for all the hard times and work..
Truly blessed I had a 85 s-10 in 2000 with a 385 got talked into selling it for 1 of my 2 boys I have..Not a day goes by I don’t miss that little truck.this video teared me up on I-20 coming home from work.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I grew up with "old dudes" telling stories, sharing wisdom, and wanting nothing more than to give us "kids" something fun or useful... Sometimes both. Watching your channel takes me back to a simpler time.
Keeping the kids under your own roof is probably the best thing you can do. My best buds old man had that philosophy and it worked for us as young man and I learnt alot from him. At 37 my best bud made some bad choices and my he rest in peace. That being said he's pops helped me get to where I am today. Means alot hearing the old man did what he could for all the wild kids in the neighborhood and they appreciate it now as adults. Cheers from Toronto Canada
Hey guys it's definitely an iconic truck but it also took one heck of a driver a great dad and mechanic and of course Tommy always there filming you guys put a lot of Blood Sweat and sacrifice into getting Where You Are and good for you guys love that your channels are doing good and keep it going guys you guys are awesome
You are alllright man. If I had kids, I would have handled the the kids like you did. But things didn’t work out for kids for me. so I enjoy my wife’s kids. You’re doing a great job! Keep it up! I enjoyed bracket racing back in the 90’s and wished I could’ve past in info to a younger gen. But am happy I got to enjoy some of the best years of my life racing and got to know some really good racers. Love all your channels! Sub to both.
My dad did the same thing while I grew up he kept us racing flatrack racing definitely a good story to have been able to watch. you guys are definitely good people love watching all your videos keep em coming
You have made the S-10 a part of all of our lives and we are so grateful for you guys and thankful for you guys to show us that it can be done and keep our heads up and keep moving forward
I'm a FORD guy and I can not stop watching the SRC / SRC Garage because of the content and the visuals, the pace of the content is just perfect. The way Bill Sr. translates what he has to say is just as straight forward a style as we the viewer deserve and quite informative. Now, what's up with the all white front clip, what happened ? Interview Mrs. Vicky for her side of the whole thing. I am sure she needs to debrief and share her story also. Have Molly interview her.
Man I can relate so much with your story. My dad kept me occupied with horsepower and I am doing the same with my son. You’re 100% correct if you have a child who is a free spirit and wild as a buck. You must find a way to harness that. You have my applause man. Great job!
Great story teller. Honest about his boys and his parenting skills and thought process. As a father of two I can relate to being a parent and making the tough decisions. Good times, great memories. Thanks old man ;) for posting these stories.
Wish i had not waited so long to watch this. Im 51 now and my father was by far my best friend. I sure miss him. "Ugly as a mud rail fence" was something my dad used to say too👍
You hit both the old drag stripes of my youth Thorn Hill Brags 😂 That's NOT misspelled I worked for the original owner Ralph Payne back when I still had hair. And the story goes Ralph Payne had some bumper stickers printed the print shop misspelled drags for Brags like the bumper stickers it stuck. Edgewater race park Friday night lights WAS originally called Time and Tune. I went back to Thorn Hill a couple years they actually have a "Tree" when I left the area they were ONLY Drag stripe still using the old clocks they were the last known working set they are now at Big Daddy Don Garlits Drag racing museum. I like to fell out of my chair when I seen you guys racing at Thorn Hill BTW 😂 Truly enjoy your channel. PEACE OUT 🐝😎😎😎😎😎😎🐝
Great video, it's a great story, makes me think about how racing changed my life and brought me back from a dark dead end road. I look forward to the hearing more.
You should be proud of that. I'm 27, been there, done that, young enough to remember it. It may not be glamorous but kids are gonna be crazy, but when they don't have a semi controlled environment to do it, with someone to watch over them. Thats when people get hurt, or dead.
Listening to you tell your story it reminds me of when I was in high-school. I hung out on a farm where we ran big block modified. We built our own chassis and everything. My high-school best friend was one of the drivers and his brother the other. There was a bunch of older guys there that drank. My friends Dad let us drink as long as we stayed at the farm no driving but we would have some great parties.
Just had to let y'all know I am captavated by it all. I just want to tell you how much just keeping up with you and your family has made life better . I haves shared your channel with my friends and family Thank you bill for being you. I haves raised my kids the same about friends and their get togethers , I gave them a pasture to play in it kept them safe.
Bill I just Re WATCHED this and am very moved by what Parents Sacrifice for there kids. Ive been a long time subscriber to both SRC Channel as well as yours. The latest video is of you blowing up the motor in Your Nova. And Billy Ordering you a Long Block Stroker. I can Not Wait, on a daily basis for all 3 channels New Video's. Back to the Basic's--Kids Today ARE IN TROUBLE with This Country In The Shape Its In. June 27, 2023.... Every Story started from a dream. There God Driven.. And Given.. Keep on Keeping On And Never Lift.
You know what know matter how much he liked partying u gave him a childhood and freedom to make choices. Yes early on it was to party but he matured and what U first got him into is what he fell in love with. So he actually had the seed put into his head and fell back on it. Great story man I love it
I love Mt Dew, my first truck was an 86 s10 with a 2.8. It was blue with black bed sides. It was a gutless turd but it took a beating. You guys are good people genuine, humble and compassionate comes to mind. Its crazy how a car (truck) can make you realize how much you have in common with other people. Its good to see good AMERICAN people like me.
Got to meet yall in Memphis parked next to the big rv my buddy is paraplegic racer. Love what yall do also pops Love ya pops means alot channel feedback everything love you all to death stay safe
S10s are the new box Novas. I bought mine brand new with 10 miles on it from Eagle Chevorlet in Chuck Co in June 1987. . Dark Blue short bed 4 cyc with a 4 speed trans. Factory 4 11 gears to give it hill climbing ass. Was meant to be sold in WV , but made it to me. Lil blue has 389 000 miles on it. Wouldn't sell it for 10 mil. Love that little truck to death.
I bought one brand new in '92 with a 2.8 and manual transmission, wasn't fast by any means but drove it until '99 when I traded it in for another new one with the 4.3 and automatic transmission, paid that one off and it had around 250K on the clock when I sold it in '07...still regret not keeping those trucks to this day.
Not easy being a parent. Keeping our kids away from bad things yet still trying to be COOL is a fine line but..... you’ve done a great job. I too own my own paving business and share drag racing with my son. Keep up the good work. Love the channel
Bill I can’t put into words what you deserve to hear. It damn sure solidifies what I said on your first video and then some !!!!!!! Cheers 🍻 ole man you are a gentleman and a scholar !!!
We as parents try to do the best with and for our kids! You succeeded with your way of approaching it. My son said he would starve to death if he had to be a mechanic but, loves my and his rides.
Your such a good father you always show how much you love your family most fathers don’t deserve that title you do ! I think every father can learn from your example it’s been a real pleasure knowing you all over the channel thanx so much for including me in your lives by all your videos your channel is real and has heart you have something that most don’t !! thanks for showing me there still good morals and values in family’s today great job I feel blessed just watching your shows thanx again 😊also thanx for keeping everyone else’s kids safe aswell as your own ! Other parents should respect and thank you aswell ❤
I live about 10 minutes from where you got that truck , you driving down the roads I've been down all those roads man. I have been watching your videos and bought a first gen s10 and I got a 9" and a zz4 350 with a street fighter trans, buttoning everything up now, wanting to race it with my dad... Definitely an inspiration to me + I saw you once in Pataskala and smelled the racing fuel and loved it!
I might get the lunati kit from Jegs and have heads ported... my uncle built it almost 20 years ago and its sat in storage since then and it gave my dad so much inspiration I had to buy it now we got a project 👌
Wow, truth and reality on the TH-cam’s who knew. I appreciate your candor way to your channel. I love how much you love your boys. Such a great family. Thanks.
Awesome peek a bit deeper than 'Why we Race', but is as real as it gets. It is NOT the destination, it is the journey that counts. Being a Dad of twins and our journey in racing, this is so heart warming. I told you this platform was going to be a way to witness to many who need just this taste of reality to step beyond the confines of just existing. Your family our here is ready with open arms and applaud your humility and confidence in being yourself. That resonates more than anything. Got a kick when Billy reacted to the Trump sign and said they were on the Trump Train. You can cherish what got you here, and fondly look in the rear view mirror, but I do believe God has a plan for you much bigger than you may realize at this point. Their are Dads like myself, and kids like Billy and Tommy feeling the reality and sincerity coming our way. Thanks so much ' Old Man'. Lead on, we are right with you.
"I never doubted him, I put everything into this, to get this kid started"
Powerful stuff from a real father, for a lot of us kids that didn't have one around.

I love the real on this channel. No bull just a dad being a dad to his kids and sharing it. Also enjoy a TH-camr closer to my age. Gen X FTW
His channel is great I enjoy the information and content
Listening to Old Man keeping his kids safe at home to party, and a million kids around 24/7 reminded me of how I did exact same to. Protect my 3.

His channel is great
Come on be nice, she’s a little rough looking but it’s the look that brought me to the channel years ago.
That, and a twisted wheelie for me. Glad y’all brought her home back then.
Touching and truely down to earth story Mr Hoskins.

Dad: You did what ?!!!
Dad's face, "priceless". Lmao 🤣
That look.....lol.
Yeah, laughing my ass off - these two should be a comedy team.
Had me rolling when you said mentally 12 years old.

That, and doing excavation work with me for a few years. It’s hard work, and dangerous.
You ain't that old old man.
Damn I wish I went to school with Billy looks like a good time.
You be proud . Those are some cool ass kids man.
Memories like that last a lifetime. I remember the day Dad and I went and bought my 86 C10. I still have it and race it when time and money permit
You the man! I had daughters my youngest I did horses like you did cars and it worked! God bless you and your family
Much respect for allowing them to be kids and still be a parent....it was all worth it....Billy seems to be a great kid....keep up the good hard work old man
You're a good man Pops! And you did a damn good job raising your boys!
Truly blessed
I had a 85 s-10 in 2000 with a 385 got talked into selling it for 1 of my 2 boys I have..Not a day goes by I don’t miss that little truck.this video teared me up on I-20 coming home from work.
The Best old man on the internet, Sure wish mine was still here,he was a Drag racer from way back.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I grew up with "old dudes" telling stories, sharing wisdom, and wanting nothing more than to give us "kids" something fun or useful... Sometimes both. Watching your channel takes me back to a simpler time.
You are what this world needs WAY more of! Fathers who put the time in with there children, love and care! Great video Sr!
Bill this is truly awesome story and many of us can relate to it. So glad you are sharing with us. My lord this is 100% America rite here🇺🇸💪💪💪
Great history, v8 s10. Bringing father and son together, all a round the usa. My son loves our truck . Thanks again.
My all time favourite TH-cam vid, great to see the two Bill's relaxed and at peace with each other
Touching story of a Great Dad doing the very best he can for his sons
Pops can tell a story. I can listen to you all day. He is knowledgeable but is wise. Wisdom comes with age and humbleness.
Just like the others, I really, really enjoyed this episode of SRC Garage,Thank YOU 'ol Dad and Billy.
Story hits home, really does. Pops is killing it on the you tube channel.
I love the family connection on this channel!!
Feels so much like home!!!
Bob Beech built my olds rocket 350 20 years ago. Haven’t heard that name for a while. Keep up the good work.
Guys I’m glad there hasn’t been any new videos on SRC. It is making me go back and watch these older ones.
Wish i had not waited so long to watch this.
Im 51 now and my father was by far my best friend. I sure miss him.
"Ugly as a mud rail fence" was something my dad used to say too👍
Great vid. Billy and my husband started off the same way. A man named John King was his saving grace. He always talks about him. Small world!
You hit both the old drag stripes of my youth Thorn Hill Brags 😂
That's NOT misspelled I worked for the original owner Ralph Payne back when I still had hair.
I like to fell out of my chair when I seen you guys racing at Thorn Hill BTW 😂
Truly enjoy your channel.
PEACE OUT
🐝😎😎😎😎😎😎🐝
You are my hero. My dad hated everything about high performance an racing. That's all i ever wanted to do. Awesome story
Just had to let y'all know I am captavated by it all.
I just want to tell you how much just keeping up with you and your family has made life better .
I haves shared your channel with my friends and family
Thank you bill for being you.
I haves raised my kids the same about friends and their get togethers , I gave them a pasture to play in it kept them safe.
Bill I just Re WATCHED this and am very moved by what Parents Sacrifice for there kids. Ive been a long time subscriber to both SRC Channel as well as yours. Back to the Basic's--Kids Today ARE IN TROUBLE with This Country In The Shape Its In. June 27, 2023.... Every Story started from a dream. There God Driven.. And Given.. Keep on Keeping On And Never Lift.
Awesome FATHER AND MOTHER!!! I love y’all!!!! Mrs. Vikki and Mr. Bill what a real family is!! Y’all did great!!!
You know what know matter how much he liked partying u gave him a childhood and freedom to make choices. Yes early on it was to party but he matured and what U first got him into is what he fell in love with. So he actually had the seed put into his head and fell back on it. Great story man I love it
Good father..my dad got me into drag racing very young age..we did alot of street racing with big block 72 Nova
I love all these great old stories " ole man". 💪👊🤘🤙👍
I have always wondered how this story became, it’s always my biggest question is to know how people have gotten to where they stand. Thank you!
This is only my second video from your channel but Your a great example for any future & current fathers. Inspiring story.
Cant wait for part 2. Love your channel and Billy's. Thanks for posting this. Really cool to see how it all began and where it is now.
