Really enjoying the lessons and find them very useful. I'm hoping to guest conduct at one of our community orchestras in the coming months. I like the way Leonard walked in tempo to the Copland in the intro of the video
Just started learning to conduct in year 10 for a orchestral club and this video has helped me have a reasonable idea of what to do, thank you for making this!
Use the left hand to conduct? I'm left handed but I was taught that I had to use my right hand to conduct. Of course now after 60 years I can only conduct with the right. Great video.
Now I'm confused. I went to a "one time" conducting course and they started with teaching me how to conduct with both hands at the same time, literally the thing he said not to do... So?
@@gammafoxlore2981 What I can say is that conductors who are pianists themselves are considered by piano soloists to be more piano-friendly, as in giving them eye contact and cues.
This site is not for left-handed conductors. Believe me, there are [were] several great ones about. Take the late Elmer Bernstein and the current Paavo Berglund.
"You could have left half of you at home" is such an incredibly eye-opening sentence used in this context.
I think that statement would be pretty eye-opening in any context :P

I love his illustration of how difficult it is. Haha
These are so good! Thanks so much for doing this video series!

Your conducting school's method is better. Making the orchestra laugh helps limber them up for a better performance.

Thank you teacher
Thankyou so much🐯
it seems easy to see how he did it but it’s hard to do it actually
Thank you
2019?
As a keyboard student my questions is: Is conducting easier for keyboardists?

watch this site from the back of your screen
Thanks for your suggestion. However, I will watch Paavo Berglund instead.
jslasher1 I will watch that too thank you
Donald Runnicles too.
If you can't transpose right and left, conducting an orchestra may prove too challenging.
Ahah !! It's Physic finally !! 😆
