      dude i fu@ing hate pentatonic and power chords thats like so 70s 80s whatever and the worst thing is when u watch a guitar related videos and a dude plays the mfking pentatonic . like i wanna buy a guitar watch like thousand videos about it and every mfka plays pentatonic

      @@Dobro-gq8iq Because it's a commonly used scale. You can still play pentatonics and still be melodic. Of course you have to use them differently

    Guys, just learn your scales and triads. All these riffs are just numerous permutations and combinations of scales and triads. This style of playing is also done in jazz, known as chord melodies.

    Thanks bro your chords video and this have helped me a ton. I have been playing guitar for about 17 years but these videos really made something click in my head. I have been trapped in powerchord and pentatonic purgatory, and always have been thinking of scale boxes when i recently started to try and play more lead. i only started really getting into drop tunings last year and always thought there was some stigma to it and was so uptight about making sure every note i play is part of whatever scale. but damn, the best guitar players i have met aren't snobs about theory, and just play what sounds good and in key. after those two videos i can honestly say may melody and chord game have improved and am having a blast making chords/melodies in drop a on my new 7 string.

    So a little side note: From the looks of it, when he says the 0-2-4 chords, he is basically saying the chords that have root notes that are all two semitones apart and right by each other. so in a minor scale, it goes whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, half. The three notes fall on after the first half step, after the second whole step, and after the third whole step. I know that may be kinda confusing so basically pick your root note (the starting note of your key) and go up three frets, that is your first root note. From that note, go up two frets, and that is the second root. Last but not least, go up two more frets and that is your third root note. If you are in a drop tuning, you can just play the standard power chord on those frets and those will be your chords. (Side note: each fret on your guitar is a half-step).

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive

      When I record it’s always metronome and drum part in the background. I think my internal BPM clock has just gotten better over time. That part in the video where I play the whole riff just on guitar the the rolling tab, I coped and pasted that rolling tab from the actual song section and it just fit almost perfectly. Practice makes perfect

    • @jamesfindlay7276
      @jamesfindlay7276 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bryanbernstein83 try to play just the chords and focus on the down beats until you have a good feel for the outline of the whole riff/progression, and then start dropping in the lead lines and all that but keeping your focus on the down beats and chord changes. bring the tempo up slowly and things should start falling into place.
