I am a piano teacher, raised classical and now I teach that and boogie. I'd like to say WOW! You are a GREAT teacher! I love that you use the theory numbers (one and five in LH) and you teach the counting. Thank you for posting. best of all to you in your classes. You are an amazing teacher!! Love the graphics too. Very helpful!!
After not playing for 16 years you inspired me to go out and purchase a piano, just today I bought. You cost me $3000 dollars. Back to the drawing board for me. Great video.
This is so incredibly helpful Jonny. Shortly after I started taking lessons I got bored and my piano teacher gave me Ragtime and Boogie-Woogie. I thrived after that. This intro is going to kick it up another notch. I plan on doing your complete course after I master this. Thanks Jonny.
At the beginning I felt frustrated and wanted to quit, but after 30 minutes of practice I started to see the light shinning.....Gracias amigo...Muchas gracias From El Salvador!!!!
honestly you have been a huge inspiration for me!! i have only been playing for about 4 months, but i have ALWAYS told myself i would learn, i found these videos around christmas time.. Thank you so much.
There are several ideas for how to learn piano Try practicing for an hour each day, or even 30 minutes if you are very busy. Do extra practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you can do more than 1 hour, maybe two or 3, or even more. This is useful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfects the pieces you play. (I read about these and more from Denelle Piano Lesson site )
I have watched sooo many learn how to play piano you have to be the best I am serious I have learned so much after seeing one youtube video!! thank you!!
Thank you for all of your free lessons, Jonny. They are very much appreciated and you are a great teacher. Just to clarify, is the right hand lick at 10.51 as follows : F# slide to GC chord-C octave lower-FA chord-EbG(A) chord-Eb slide to EG chord-(C) G octave lower-F-Eb-E-F#slide to GC chord. Hope this makes sense to you :-)
DJ Vibe Glad you're enjoying the lessons! I had amazing teachers myself, so it is really an honor to share this knowledge with other piano players. You're description sounds about right :)
pianowithjonny On review of the vid., I think the C is omitted and the EbGA chord is also played. Sounds similar :-) Will definitely be buying the Latin / Cuban, Rock n Roll & Blues courses. It's never too late to improve, if one practises regularly. Thank you for your help.
Heh, I was playing piano in music school for about 6 years, 15 years ago... All that moonlight sonatas, Chopin etudes and much more. It was soo easy back then. And now I'm struggling with connecting left with right hand on this one... ^^ Subscribing on Your site when my Roland P30 arrives. Thanks for great lessons!
That's wonderful news! It's never too late to get back into it. I have a course called Two Hand Coordination that helps with just your problem. I look forward to getting to know you as your teacher :)
the one thing I wish these rock n roll tutorials told me about from the beginning is the importance of playing staccato. I got so used to slurring notes and pressing the pedal that I just can't make this sound the way it's supposed to, even with no pedal. So if you're a beginner, keep this in mind!
The video is superb and teaching nikel! Only, having practiced an entirely different style, when I see you making your right hand go, I say; Oh!? I did not see anything! death of laughter. If only we had piano lessons of this style here. I would be happy to! You have just made yourself a fan!
I really really like your way of playing Jonny! You are also a very good teacher and you have really helped me with some strange passages I couldnt fix myself earlier, thanks for great videos and have a good one man! Best regards from Magnus in Sweden :-)
Hi there. Lost my teaching job. Please how do you set up this over head camera and what software are you using. Haven't gotten any help yet and really want to set this up to continue teaching. Thanks in advance.
Hi man nice video. Where did you get that nice midi keyboard from? with the yellow look when pressing. I would really like to know which virtual keyboard program it is. :)
Hi, Jonny. I'm glad I found your video. It's amazing! I'd like to know if it's ok to play the left hand pattern while playing along with a bassist or the pianist must keep a simple piano arrangement for his / her left hand. Thanks in advance for your answer. Greetings from Brazil.
Great question! Yes, generally you can play the left hand with a bass player. The only time I wouldn't recommend it is if the bass player was playing other chords or if they were playing a bass line that doesn't match the piano. But most bass lines in this style will work with the left hand that you're playing.

I don't have one but it's a great idea! What kind of "slow rock" are you referring to? Any artists that come to mind?
Amazing as always!
