    I am a piano teacher, raised classical and now I teach that and boogie. I'd like to say WOW! You are a GREAT teacher! I love that you use the theory numbers (one and five in LH) and you teach the counting. Thank you for posting. best of all to you in your classes. You are an amazing teacher!! Love the graphics too. Very helpful!!

    This is so incredibly helpful Jonny. Shortly after I started taking lessons I got bored and my piano teacher gave me Ragtime and Boogie-Woogie. I thrived after that. This intro is going to kick it up another notch. I plan on doing your complete course after I master this. Thanks Jonny.

    There are several ideas for how to learn piano
    Try practicing for an hour each day, or even 30 minutes if you are very busy.
    Do extra practice whenever you can. For example, on weekends you can do more than 1 hour, maybe two or 3, or even more. This is useful because it pulls you out of the routine of piano playing, and lets you practice more and perfects the pieces you play.
    (I read about these and more from Denelle Piano Lesson site )

    the one thing I wish these rock n roll tutorials told me about from the beginning is the importance of playing staccato. I got so used to slurring notes and pressing the pedal that I just can't make this sound the way it's supposed to, even with no pedal.
    So if you're a beginner, keep this in mind!

    when you learn to play boogie woogie/rock'n'roll on the piano, you don't need to go at the gym anymore...5 mins of this is like 1 hour at the gym lol.
    p.s. I got a question, how do you make the slides if you are playing in A. You have to go up instead of slide lol.

    • @JonnyMay
      @JonnyMay  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +0lvl haha yes it is a workout! I've been drenched in sweat a few times after playing this. For un upslide, I use finger two to finger three... it has the same effect (although I prefer downslides because I can use the same finger).

    • @0lvl
      @0lvl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm downslides are not available in every tonality. Or maybe I'm just ignorant, also upslide doesn't sound the same no matter how hard I try it, it's like a bit too slow to get that jumpy effect, although that might be my problem, I can't do trills too good either. I can play really fast arpeggios, scales, anything, but when it comes to trills, I'm so bad that it hurts. :))
