What I like about Neil Young is he walks the walk. He doesn’t just talk the talk. He actually acts on his beliefs. His voice is pure gold. He is unique. No one else sounds like him. This is one of my favorites. He expresses pure emotion. Helpless. He expresses the pain of loss perfectly. What a great artist. Thanks Neil Young.
This song always puts a tear to my eye. I grew up not to far from where Neil lived in Omeme. Both of my kids even attended Scott Young public school. I remember about 10 years ago Neils old house came up for sale. Being a huge fan I was prepared to make the purchase. The wife on the other hand, not so much. We are no longer together.
Played that piano at boots and saddles . The bar tender pulled out a fiddle . It was a great night . A tenor sang just enough for the city . It was beautiful . Slept next to the ocean , went to thanksgiving in a house crushed by a redwood tree. Said thank you and drove to Florida . Such is life .
He SURE IS. Ambrosia Australia grew up with him. Played him forever, 70's. still adore his work. HE IS SO CLOSE TO GOD..in fact he is God. Child of LIGHT & LOVE.
Kurt my brother i hear this music and i remember all the great times we shared RIP i will see you when my number is up, thanks for being there for me love you only sister Sherrie💕💕💕💕
This is a beautiful song ,that accesses feelings that we try to keep locked away. It brings tears to my eyes. How I felt when I lost Diane. It reminds me where I have been and how life is so fragile. To keep holding my head up and be thankful for what I go
I'm sorry for your loss. This is the perfect song to grieve to. Let's bawl our eyes out. Though I don't believe in an afterlife, that could owe to my wiring, and I hope you are somehow reunited. (())
There is a town in North Ontario Dream comfort memory to spare And in my mind I still need a place to go All my changes were there Blue, blue windows behind the stars Yellow moon on the rise Big birds flying across the sky Throwing shadows on our eyes Leave us Helpless, helpless, helpless, helpless Babe, can you hear me now? The chains are locked and tied across the door Baby, sing with me somehow Blue, blue windows behind the stars Yellow moon on the rise Big birds flying across the sky Throwing shadows on our eyes Leave us Helpless, helpless, helpless, helpless
You know i listen to this beautiful soul and then i become comfortably numb almost every nite and i dont even need drugs love always neil from knoxville dano

"the time has come", the young man said, "to hit the colors with the color red..." one of my muses told me that one. it's cool...especially with the blue.

most of the greatest musicians from the late 60s and early 70s were far leaning liberals and wrote songs about their views. It is their way of expressing their concern just as republicans use fox news. its just another outlet for voices.
I have a ruined 100 year old family homestead in rural wisconsin. How bad does it have to GET when this is the soundtrack of your life ?
what do you mean
Neil didn't need new musical equipment. His talent took care of everything. The old piano was just fine.
Such a talented man. Today's artists have no musical sense they just sing with computer sounds, he composed this himself.
What I like about Neil Young is he walks the walk. He doesn’t just talk the talk. He actually acts on his beliefs.
His voice is pure gold.
He is unique. No one else sounds like him.
This is one of my favorites.

What a great artist.
Thanks Neil Young.
That’s why I respect him so much. He doesn’t just post on instagram about issues, he actually tries to find ways to act on it.
I was at this show. A junior in college. One of the most memorable single song performances I have ever experienced. Magical night indeed.
+Charles Schimmel I was there too. The next day I went to the Big Star re-union in Columbia, MO
Me too. Awesome!
I was there too. Was amazing. An incredible music moment.
He's a National Treasure. Folk and spirit of Americana.
You were? I'm very proud of ya.

A you a liberal as well??
Man song has helped me through some tough times. Absolutely beautiful.
I knew he could play the guitar and the harmonica at the same time….now I know he can play the piano and the harmonica at the same time. Dang.
I still need that place to go. I see the yellow moon on the rise... with shadows on our eyes.
I was there. Hearing Neil do "Helpless" was profound and magical.
Lucky you ☺️
Uau!! Fantastic!! ( from Belo Horizonte/Brazil)
Am jealous, 😊
I've learned most of my English with Him and started listening to Him when I was 13 years old. Thank You for being part of my life, Neil Young
Just piano and harmonica and nothing else , this song is the best

This song is about Thunder Bay. Lived there a long time.
I get tingles from this song
There is a town in North Ontario
Dream comfort memory to spare
And in my mind I still need a place to go
All my changes were there
Blue, blue windows behind the stars
Yellow moon on the rise
Big birds flying across the sky
Throwing shadows on our eyes
Leave us
Helpless, helpless, helpless, helpless
Babe, can you hear me now?
The chains are locked and tied across the door

Throwing shadows on our eyes

Helpless, helpless, helpless, helpless
Very nice live version, Neil's voice sounds so good here and just an upright piano and harmonica, fits perfectly for this song.
God I love you man. May you live forever. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!
Cant thank Neil enough… a special man.
He’s helpless ,, he shot his ol lady down by the river
He’s helpless

There are only a few perfect songs. This is one of them.
I love this
Amazing talent…
Beautiful boy....
CLinton and Gore - two places in Southland. Worth a visit.
Raw and real.
This is the only Neil Young song that I love. Thank you Neil!
I can’t think of a song of his I don’t love. He is a legend
"the time has come", the young man said, "to hit the colors with the color red..." one of my muses told me that one. it's cool...especially with the blue.
Knocking on heavens doors
I was there.
Thank you for everything neil
Thank you Neil Young You shall forever in my heart ❤️

“All my changes were there.”
God is this beautiful 😍.
Does anyone sing a song better than this man
love u neil
Love ya Brother!
Omemee loves you Neil
Molto bella e suggestiva
This is for his son, so moving.
The young shouldn't die.
Neil Young has two sons, Zeke and Ben, and a daughter, Amber Jean, and all of them are alive. What are you talking about ????
@@billenplum yep all born before this song was written. The age of (mis) information. This is about his childhood.... and yours and mine and ...everyone's
my comment should have said his children were born after this song was written.
Neil young is a good guitarist
But here he plays piano lol
brilliance
That was back in days very sad sometimes
The only thing better than Neil on acoustic is Neil on piano, goddamn this is good.
Maravilhoso!!! From Belo Horizonte/Brazil
The original Thom Yorke.
unico!!!! grande!!!!!
Me gusta más con la 🎸
un gran tema
Благодарю.
Feels like a Nick Adams' short story put into music
This piano would give a heart attack to any classical player...
Probably why i dont listen to classical
Classical pianist with a Steinway wouldn't have done justice to this song. Someone hurting, playing an out of tune stand- up in a smokey bar would.
Neil is always a bit out of tune. He is not, decidedly not, singing and plying along with everyone else. To all of our benefits.
great american treasure
Thunder Bay
I don’t think I saw him saw CSN
is that a Baldwin amp behind him?
Chords on Piano: Helpless - We all know them, on Piano, guitar.
Mr Young can play a piano that is 200 yrs old
the bridge between Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, from ephemeral wonder to the real of the now.
Absolut geiel
Baby… Sing with me somehow…..
Neil also plays Piano
Pease 👍
It's like a song from the Republicans:D
prtida pa yn lacing yn haha
I've always loved his music, It's too bad he's a liberal.

Hope you can sober up Neil.
great music but a horrible person, lack of character
Once upon a time I brought a big chunk of the AIDS Quilt to the University of Kentucky & we had a "Reading of the Names".
