Nice to see Yogi amongst the runs. Such a laid back style and easy on the eye. That pull shot is so dismissive of the ball. Also a sign of batting well; seeing the ball early.
Another gem from Dan ... i really look forward to my Sunday morning in Australia watching Sanderstead videos and Dans great commentary and hopefully we get some Sunday village games soon weather permitting ..played cricket for over 23 years and never wore a headband ever as my team mates would have recommended i take up flower arranging or something .. oh plus my fringe is somewhere half way down my back these days
My goodness that is a seriously strong second team you have. I suspect 1 of the main reasons your club is so strong right now is Dan's hard work with this channel.
It is a full team effort by the committee to make the club more of a community (that happens to play cricket). I'm sure the profile afforded by the channel helps, but other factors are important too, especially our Chairman, Rusty Carter, and his brother Simon (1st XI skip).

Brilliant cricket, and a great team spirit throughout the team. Jogi in sparkling form and a real joy to watch. Opening bowlwers probably too good for this league, and then comes Matt the Harris to finish off the innings. Fielding also a joy to watch. And then all of this wouldnt be possible without the super filming and commentary, plus of course the uploading from Dan. Makes me realise what i am missing in a country without cricket. However, all is not lost thanks to these great sites on TH-cam
Unfortunately our game got cancelled today due to the horrible weather so I am so happy this came in my sub box to give me some entertainment and watch some cricket and always a fan of your video and even watch the old one alway too. Always enjoy them Thanks Sarah

Lots to savour in this morning offering , obviously Yogi and Dev , but Id like to show appreciation for the classy keeping , which helps lift the fielding to another level . I did keep occasionally when we wanted to give youngsters a chance to bowl in evening matches , and its hard on the knees . Standing back to medium pacers is quite easy , but the good keepers can stand up to quite pacy stuff and make it look easy . Wishing you continued success

Nice - reminds me of a match we played years ago at Sevenoaks where there was a bowls green near the square leg boundary. One of our players hits everything to square and had a good day (hit 60 from about 5 overs) - needless to say the bowls players scurried indoors to take cover until the match was won! Happy days….

Outstanding performance from yogi and dev , that style of bowling is a nightmare to play. Rory is a mean keeper as well, hard to believe this is a 2nd team sometimes!
Great effort from Sanderstead today well as Dan said it's a funny old game 57 all out working for the first,and 56 all out working for the 2and. And all win for Sanderstead, Someone ought to remind Yogi even the his target is a secret his batting on the film/video is not and a good bowling and fielding side may not give Him so many chances and sometimes egos or rushes of blood do not get you out of dropped catches. Someone needs to get him to practise hitting the ball along the ground for He would score.many many more runs. If the rain and wet keeps up tracks will be all the time a wicket of given chances and this wicket today was track that need good timing to hit the ball to or over the boundary. Yogi was the man today scored more than woking put together and still not out. As always Kline and length regardless of wicket and condition steam rolled woking. Amazing bowling would have bowled out any side or made it difficult to score. Bowling truly wins game in cricket and this was a fine example. Well done Sanderstead and Sanderstead CC TV.
Who is the chap with the glorious Carribbean accent we could hear in the field? Otis and Dev as an opening partnership is a very tidy new ball pairing for a 2's side. Wonderful to see a strong second 11 where any of them could step up into the 1's and not be out of place. Even in the current weather the ground still looks in great condition by the way so great work by the lads who have done the work on it.

The Windies made everyone's lives hell for decades but they are everyone's favorite side that isn't your own after all. Hard not to love them! The diversity your club has is just awesome, helps the location after all but a true definition of cricket family and how the game is able to unite everyone from anywhere. Really is why it's the best sport about because of stuff like that. Can't think of really any other sport that does it as well as cricket and really has been what everyone has needed this last year. Uniting together to enjoy this joyous game.

Dev Carr is like the lovechild of Malcolm Marshall and Derick Pringle. A beast of a man with the deft and elegance of Najinski. With a nagging pace and exaggerated, almost flamboyant swing, he looks to be the darling of Sanderstead's bowling line up for generations to come.

Yet again more Sanderstead TH-cam cricket magic - second team magnificence - in fact I wonder whether you influenced and helped to persuade all the Counties to film their Championship matches for us poor humble cricket fans ( I'll speak for myself), I suspect at least a smidgeon. Thanks Dan (notice the magnificent compliments first). Hate to be too pernickety, and I know your not particularly inclined towards this fastidiousness especially towards the opposition, but could you keep us informed of the score fairly regularly - from a viewer's point of view it increases helps maintain my poor attention span (at least) and the already high level of YT cricket pleasure! Enjoyed Yogi's well deserved on field respite: may be more England cricketers could try that. Marvellous.

Really good question. There’s not a huge amount in it I reckon - but there is some true pedigree in the 1s which does make a difference, eg Si Carter, Chris Baumann, Josh Stacey, Tyler etc. Also, don’t forget the 2s are playing a level below the 1s so it’s not easy to compare. And why should we - it’s great to have such strength and depth, let’s just enjoy it! I certainly am - and why not?

Yogi is every (opposition) club side's nightmare. He won't win any awards for his technique but he is a strong lad and he puts his bat right through the ball. I used to open with a very similar player for my club years ago and it's amazing what these types of players get away with just by giving the ball brutal treatment. Every club side would love to have a Yogi in their line-up. Rory looks especially good I have to say - it's like watching Yogi but with the technique added in. Really good batting line-up for a second XI.
Rory’s my favourite player. Plays cricket with a big smile and gives the ball a good thump. He must have an excellent eye as he is also a super keeper.
So how does this league work regarding squads. Your opener get promoted to the first team or remains in the seconds even if someone is performing poorly in the firsts? Promotion/demotion amongst teams or registered first team members second team members etc?
The sign of a good keeper is not missing chances. Standing up or back isn't really the issue. The best keeper I've ever seen(Alan Knott) who was exceptional stood up to the wicket generally stood back to medium pacers as he calculated that over all it increased his dismissal rate. He reckoned you miss more slightly wide nicks than stumping chances come your way. It if course depends on the medium pacer and to some degree the standard you play at. Knott's work to nearly medium pace left arm cutter Derek Underwood was on a level that had to be seen to be believed particularly on wet and uncovered wickets. Knott took one catch stood up to Underwood in a test match in the early/mid 70's that is probably the greatest keeping catch I've ever seen.
@@SandersteadCCTV Uncle Phil reminded me of Devon Malcolm's 9-57, some similarity in action as well and those huge incoming deliveries.....it's difficult to get 4+ in an innings let alone 6. Yogi was brilliant but I think Uncle Phil today was the hero for me. Good keeping as well to Uncle Phil. This 2nd X1 team is solid!
Wouldn't complain if you stuck to this only filming home games after the restrictions are lifted, watching the 2nd team is just as entertaining as the firsts, both sides will be competing for the title this season no doubt
Yes I agree - though there are some nice, convenient away grounds to mix things up a bit. I will probably take it week by week and then as the season ends, follow the most interesting looking promotion run. It’s going to be fun whatever, as you say!

So how does this league work regarding squads. Your opener get promoted to the first team or remains in the seconds even if someone is performing poorly in the firsts? Promotion/demotion amongst teams or registered first team members second team members etc?

The sign of a good keeper is not missing chances.
Standing up or back isn't really the issue.
The best keeper I've ever seen(Alan Knott) who was exceptional stood up to the wicket generally stood back to medium pacers as he calculated that over all it increased his dismissal rate. He reckoned you miss more slightly wide nicks than stumping chances come your way. It if course depends on the medium pacer and to some degree the standard you play at.
Knott's work to nearly medium pace left arm cutter Derek Underwood was on a level that had to be seen to be believed particularly on wet and uncovered wickets. Knott took one catch stood up to Underwood in a test match in the early/mid 70's that is probably the greatest keeping catch I've ever seen.

@@SandersteadCCTV Uncle Phil reminded me of Devon Malcolm's 9-57, some similarity in action as well and those huge incoming deliveries.....it's difficult to get 4+ in an innings let alone 6. Yogi was brilliant but I think Uncle Phil today was the hero for me. Good keeping as well to Uncle Phil. This 2nd X1 team is solid!

Wouldn't complain if you stuck to this only filming home games after the restrictions are lifted, watching the 2nd team is just as entertaining as the firsts, both sides will be competing for the title this season no doubt
Yes I agree - though there are some nice, convenient away grounds to mix things up a bit. I will probably take it week by week and then as the season ends, follow the most interesting looking promotion run. It’s going to be fun whatever, as you say!
