  • The church of Jesus Christ has a mission to fulfill: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19). This command requires nothing short of our complete obedience, for our Lord sends His people into the world bearing His own authority. In this message, Dr. Burk Parsons examines what it means to fulfill the great commandment at the heart of Jesus’ Great Commission, being disciples who make disciples of Christ.

I understand the gospel texts in a way that Christ himself needs to give a mandate personally as he did with Paul. But I wonder on how many apostles this actually does apply. Many apparently only 'attended a course' and read something in the bible and now think they 'fulfill the 'great commission''... But I think there is more to it.

Jesus has just called me to go on the Great Commission. I am scared and very nervous as I am about to leave everything to go. I have only been a follower for a short time and don't even know if I am equipped for the task ahead. But I am very grateful for this video and teaching as it is both comforting and motivating. Thank you very much for a wonderful sermon.

@@mariadonkova2759 Hi Maria, as Christians we are all called to spread the gospel. It is what a Disciple is. If we do truly believe in the message that is our Lord Jesus, then we must tell people the good news. But it doesn't mean we have to leave everything and go to another country to do it. For me, although I felt it in my spirit that it was something I needed to do, through prayer Jesus called me to do this. I left Australia 4 months ago now and have been travelling through Europe spreading the gospel. But we are all called to serve in different ways. Before I left I was working, going to the gym and living a normal life and was still spreading the message to anyone who wanted to listen. If you want to pursue a career you don't have to feel guilty for doing it, but never be ashamed of your faith and telling people about what Jesus has done for us. You can pursue your goals and still serve the Lord. I wish you all the very best and may God bless you with all that you do..

Apart from a life of filling of the Holy Spirit & the filling of the word of Christ, there is no discipleship. The Lord Jesus stated, "A branch cannot bear fruit if it does not abide in the Vine."

John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
_It appears by John 1:33 that Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit._
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
      John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
_If we love Jesus and keep his commandments Jesus will pray for us._
_Jesus will pray that we be given the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter (which is the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit) note: John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost..._
_Everyone knows that when Jesus prays, things happen._

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus commands his disciples to go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
If you are one of His and are filled with His spirit it doesn't matter if you have some credential or not. A pastor doesn't have "more" of the spirit of Christ than any other believer. All they may have is more seminary training.
So when the Lord is instructing us from His Word it is not for only those who went to seminary but for you and me, those who believe on Him. And his commandments are to those who love Him and want to share what He did for them to the world.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:20 *Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.*
Not only did Jesus instruct them to “teach all nations” Jesus foretold them he would be with them ... “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: *and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.*
(Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: *and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.* Amen.)
_This instruction given by Jesus has to happen. And why?_
_Because if this had failed to take place, then Jesus could not have been with them as they followed his command as he foretold them he would be with them._
_Which would make his foretelling false._
_Which would make him a false Messiah. A false prophet._
_In other words IF Jesus words in Matthew 28 failed to come true then he would not be, and he could not be the Messiah._

      _For just that day?_

It's for those that Christ authorizes to do so. That's more than an itchy feeling or "I read that in the bible, hence". The story of "Every Christian must" is a misunderstanding of what the text says... It becomes clearer with Eph.4:11.
The part of being crucified with Christ and fruits of the spirit is key and mostly missing. It isn't enough to cultivate the Flesh in fact it becomes a problem over time.

"Hard work of training"...evangelism is hard work. We shouldn't be surprised, then, that this work must be compensated. Matthew 10:10 and Luke 10:7 make this plain. If you choose to ignore these verses, you make Jesus out to be a _liar_ .
